Merry Monday-July & Freshly Made #96

Today I have one card, but I’m entering it in two challenges.  Merry Monday’s July challenge is Anything Goes, so I’m using the sketch from Freshly Made #96.

July Challengefms96sketchMy computer is acting up today:(  Excuse me if I hurry through this today, well, I’ll try anyway, it’s taken half and hour to get this far:(  It’s not this site, it’s the internet connection, slow, slow, slow! 😦

Here is my card:

Half-fold Card1I’ve tried to create a nice simple card today, last weeks was not all that simple;)  Of course, I used a really cute Fred She Said image;)  The set is called Naughty or Nice Elf . It’s been printed and cut out , layered onto some “real” sparkle paper by Stampin’ Up!  Under that is plain white cardstock embossed with a Sizzix Christmas folder with Holly leaves and berries.  The background color is one of my favorites from Stampin’ Up!, Garden Green.  I added one little embellishment from my stash.

Be sure to check out the Fred She Said store, there are beautiful new images!  I’ll be using some very soon:)

Okay, I’ve got to go for now, but I’ll be back soon with the card for the Friday Mashup🙂

Thanks for coming by today! 🙂

Friday Mashup #119 with cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids

OMGoodness, three hours of quiet tonight!!:)  Kids all went to bed early and I started making cards! 🙂  I made two today and they will both be going into the box for Send A Smile 4 Kids! 🙂  I’ve already entered their challenge, they run for two weeks, so you have plenty of time to enter for a chance to win some nice digital prizes:)  This time the theme is Christmas in July.

So today’s cards are not Christmas, but I think they’re pretty cute.  If you check out the Send A Smile 4 Kids challenge, I was the first to enter! 🙂  I will be entering these two cards in the challenge over at the Friday Mashup #119.

Here’s your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the “Sketch”.
  2. Create a project with a “Favorite New Stamp Set”.
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project “using the Sketch with your Favorite NEW Stamp Set”.

Here is their sketch for this week:

fm119Here are my cards, I used the sketch and my favorite NEW digital stamps:

Half-fold Card4Half-fold Card5If you click on them to make them larger, you can see the Yellow Brick Road;)  Now hold on to your hats, I have lots of info to share!

First off, the “glitter” paper is actually digital “glitter” paper from Sassy Designs.  I’ve never tried digital glitter paper before, because I thought it would look too fake.  Of course it’s not like real glitter paper, but it looks kinda cool, AND it suited my purpose for these two cards;)  I cut the arrows out of the paper, I wouldn’t be able to do that if it was thick glitter paper.  Here is what the first step looks like:

Half-fold Card1Onto my second step:

Half-fold Card2The first step is the front after cutting.  Here is a photo of the back and the template I used to make my arrows.  The template is from POP-UPs Etc.  On the lower left there is a link for FOLD-em templates, I used #2 here.  And here is what I did:

Half-fold Card3I used my template and cut my arrows with my special knife I bought with the original template Lace’  (Lay-say).  These are no longer sold, so I am directing you to the site where I know similar template are sold:)  I cut them out on the red side and then turned my paper over and folded part of the arrows in. Then I cut them off for the effect I wanted.  You would usually fold them out to the front and fold them under the little flaps.  Because I’m using digital paper, it’s pretty thin.  I just taped the brick road under it to show through.

The glitter paper came from Sassy Designs, Inc. Here is some info on them, they are having a great sale with digital paper SETS for only 25 cents!!!  Yes, really!  I don’t remember how I even found them, but check it out! 🙂

“The 12 Days of Christmas in July Sale is ENDING THIS FRIDAY! The sale is
scheduled to end promptly at 11:59pm EDT on Friday, July 26, 2013. (PLEASE
NOTE THE TIME ZONE difference: Sale end time of 11:59pm EDT is 8:59pm PDT,
9:59pm MDT, and 10:59pm CDT.) “

Okay, now that brings me to my images.  These images are  from Doodle Pantry in a set called OZ.   I got the entire set and will be making more cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids.  The set comes with images, papers, and sentiments! 🙂  I, of course, used pre-colored digital images, but they have lots of un-colored images.  There are links on the left side of the page:)

OMGoodness, it’s after 2:30am here!  I have to go to bed, the little ones have no sympathy for my staying up too late! LOL

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! 🙂

Thanks for coming by today!  I hope I haven’t overloaded you with info:)  See you soon:)

Freshly Made #95 & Glitter n Sparkle

Okay, It’s after lunch now and I’ve already put my 2 year old down for his nap:)  I feel like I’m ready for a nap too, up way too late last night;)  It’s hot, hot here, as most of the planet probably!  A couple of weeks ago, it was hotter in Alaska than here in Illinois!!  So here I am with another Christmas card to cool you off:)

This card is for the Freshly Made challenge #95.  Here’s there sketch for this week:

FMS Final 95-001And here is the card I made:

Half-fold Card2You guessed it, another wonderful image from Fred She Said! 🙂  This image, background writing, and sentiment all came from the same set, Christmas Poinsettia Lantern Set.  I also used cardstock by Stampin’ Up!, Basic Black and Real Red which I ran through with Stampin’ Up! embossing folder  Petals-a- Plenty.  I love this embossing folder! If you click on my card, you can get a better look;)

This week, Fred She Said is one of the sponsors for the challenge over at Glitter n Sparkle.  They have some nice digital prizes, including a $10 Gift Certificate to the Fred She Said store!

When I was over at GnS this morning, the Linkey was missing, but I reported it to the blog, so it should be up and running soon:)

Thanks for stopping by again today:)  If you have comments, suggestions, or questions, please feel free to leave a message, I’m always happy to hear from you! 🙂  I appreciate every comment! 🙂

Merry Monday-July #3 & Send A Smile 4 Kids

I actually made two cards today! 🙂  I’m only posting one tonight, it’s getting pretty late.  I’ll post again when it’s a reasonable time on Sunday;)

My card tonight is for two different challenges, Merry Monday and Send A Smile 4 Kids🙂  Here’s the challenge for Merry Monday:

July ChallengeI love Christmas, and Christmas cards! 🙂  Here’s the challenge for Send A Smile 4 Kids:

Christmas in July 4 Kids!

It’s Saturday and time for another fun challenge here at Send a Smile 4 Kids! This time our challenge is Christmas in July 4 Kids. Create and link any holiday card for a child and you could win one of our great prizes.

“We are running this challenge now to remind you that it is never too early to start making our holiday cards, and we would love for every child in the eight Children’s Hospitals we serve to receive a holiday card. But even better would be if there was enough holiday cards that each could pick out a few for special people in their lives they are missing while spending Christmas in the hospital, or to say thank you to the medical staff. You do not have to send in your cards when you participate in our challenges, but our kids would sure love it if you did!”

I know, I promote Send A Smile 4 Kids a lot, they even have a spot on the upper left side of my blog.  I love kids!!  I was happy to see Fred She Said start to sponsor some of the challenges for SAS4K this year! 🙂  She’s not sponsoring this week so I get to enter the challenge:)  Because I’m on the Design Team for Fred She Said, I can’t enter or win whenever FSS is sponsoring.

Anything goes for July, so I went back and found one of my cards that I liked and made another one, only different;)  My first card looked like this:

Half-fold Card1The new one looks like this:

Half-fold Card1They both contain Fred She Said images, the first one is Emma The Hugger-Snowman Edition.   The new card is also Fred She Said called, Catchin’ Flakes.

I hope you’ll take the time to check out both of the challenges:  Merry Monday and Send A Smile 4 Kids:)

Thanks for stopping by today, well it’s 2am here in Illinois, barely Sunday!  Tomorrow, also Sunday for real, I will have another post.  I hope you can come back and join me for another card:)

Friday Mashup #118 & Top Tip Tuesday #105

Oh bummer!!   While I was preparing my card to post to the Friday Mashup #118, I ran out of time and the link closed:(  But, you still get to see it because I’m going to point the way to a different challenge over at Top Tip Tuesday #105🙂

  3. Or Mash it Up and create a “Nature Themed project using the Challenge Colors”.

I think I did pretty good with this one; lots of nature (Stampin’ Up! Nature Walk (retired) All Stampin’ Up! supplies.  I used Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral, and Soft Suede.  However, I did add some Wild Wasabi on the leaves;)

Top Tip Tuesday

Doodle Pantry- DPDC36 & Merry Monday-July

I had company this week who spent some time with the kids, so more “free” time for me:) LOL   Of course, I made cards! 😉 I’m entering two different challenges this week.  The first challenge is Doodle Pantry-DPDC36.  They are first because D comes before M.  I had to decide some way;)

This challenge was pretty simple:

Tag/Keyword: DPDC36
THEME: Use a Doodle Pantry image

So here is my card:

Half-fold Card1How cute is this?  I made 4 of these cards in different colors.  Two for my grandgirls and 2 for Send A Smile 4 Kids.  The pre-colored digital artwork is from Doodle Pantry, and is called Popsicle Ants.

I used Stampin’ Up! River Rock (retired) cardstock as backing papers.  All the other papers, the image & the sentiment are from the Popsicle Ants kit.  I did use some 3D Popsicle stickers to embellish, I bought them at Michaels.  I went back for more and they’re sold out:(  Turns out they are already putting up Fall stuff!  Wow, time does fly!!  Anyway…I will post the second card at a later date:)

Now on to Merry Monday-July:

July ChallengeThis is the second week of July… my second card;)  I had started this card for a previous challenge but simply ran out of time to enter it:(  July is “Anything goes”so I decided to go back and pick up this challenge that I missed:)MM New Look Sketches-004  This card came to my mind as soon as I saw this sketch:

Half-fold Card2I think this one is really cute too:)  This card is all Fred She Said, except the sentiment.  The background stripes, with the Pine Cone and branches are all one digital image from FSS called Pine Cone Spray.   I cut out a 2nd Pine Cone and popped it up, then added some sparkle to the Pine Cone and branches.  I previewed this photo and you really can’t see the sparkle, even enlarged:(  I took about 8 photos and wasn’t impressed with any of them:(

The Santa image is also Fred She Said called, Little Fat Santa.   I used one of the pre-colored, PNGs, and fit it right into the frame using my Print Shop program.  I used a misc. rubber stamp to make the sentiment flag.  Now for an interesting side note. I took the background paper with the oval over to a different image product and used the thin line around the oval and made my own background paper.  I bet you hadn’t given that another thought.  If you think making digital card parts is easy, you have either never tried it or you have done it for years! 🙂

I did print and then cut out the dark blue background paper, layered the pale striped paper on top and then added the 3D Pine Cone and the sentiment flag.  Hmmm, now that I think about it, I should have just printed the words and layered it on the dark blue in my Print Shop.  But what I actually did, was painstakingly pull one “ho!” off a stamp with three different styled “ho, ho, ho’s”.  Yes, I seem to like to torture myself (rolling eyes here).  The flag, banner, whatever you want to call it is not glued at the end and curls up a little.  I saw someone else do this and liked the effect:)

OMGoodness, I am quite the chatterbox today, sorry.

Thanks for coming by today, and thanks so much if you’ve read this entire post! 🙂  Check out all my links if you have time, lots to see! 🙂

Freshly Made #93

I got about an hour today of free time, kinda, so I’m posting another card:)  This card is for the Freshly Made #93 challenge. Their cards are Clean And Simple.  This is about as simple as I can make a card;)  My granddaughters were eating strawberries the other day and it reminded me how much I really love them!  Can’t afford them very often, but I remember some years ago, we used to go to the strawberry patch and pick them ourselves! 🙂   Anyway… is the sketch for this week:

Here is the card I’ve made:

Half-fold Card1What do you think, too simple?  It actually looks better in person:)  My strawberries came from Fred She Said, it’s part of the Emma in the Strawberry Patch Set.  I’ve used Emma many times, she is just so cute standing in the strawberry patch!  I used Stampin’ Up! Garden Green as my backing color.  I used paper from the set Strawberry Hill by Raspberry Road Designs.   I love using their papers with my Fred She Said images!  The ribbon is just misc. ribbon from my stash.

I made a little tag that says “YUM” but I can’t decide where to put it:(   I’ll think about it some more:)

Thanks for coming by today:)  I know two posts in a week!  I’m taking advantage of some sorely needed quiet time! 🙂

Merry Monday Month of July Challenge #1

July ChallengeYes, it’s time for Merry Monday🙂 !  This is a month long challenge and this is my first card.  I went through my “leftover” box and found some items that I could put into a card quickly.  The kids have all been challenging this week, and it does say “anything goes” 🙂

Half-fold Card1Ok, I think they’re pretty nice leftovers;)  The paper is awesome!  It has foil-like elements, I love it!  The ornament, is a Stampin’ Up! punch, now retired and a free image I got some time ago that I cut out and never used.  Actually, I cut out several more, I must have been planning to make a number of cards.  I used Stampin’ Up! punches for the labels, also foil and a Stampin’ Up! sentitiment.  Almost forgot, the little bow is foil and I believe it’s a Memory Box die.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope to be back soon!  Hubby is off for two days and hopefully will help with the little darlings;)
