Merry Monday #76 & Send A Smile 4 Kids

I’m back:)  I’m not sure about the wide awake part.  Some of you may have noticed that I’m making a lot of children’s cards.  I am stepping up my efforts to send more cards to Send A Smile 4 Kids, and more children’s cards for Operation Write Home.  There are rules to follow for both of these sites.  The most important rule for OWH is NO glitter!  It can be seen by the enemy with night goggles!  I would love to encourage you to consider either one of these causes! 🙂  I’m sure you may have some extra cards laying around, check out the rules and give it a try, or suggest it to a friend:)  Kids are not as picky as adults, usually, especially the small ones:)  I know my grandchildren love any card I give them, as long as it says I love them inside!

Ok, on we go:)  For my two cards today I used the same sketch, I think it’s an old Merry Monday sketch.  I actually went off the photo of the card I made and saved in a folder on my computer marked “favorites”.  I’m guessing Merry Monday because it’s a Christmas card;)  Anyway… is the first card:

Half-fold Card2This card will be entered in the Merry Monday challenge #76.  The challenge called for a snowman, and this is my favorite of all time, snowman!  The image is from Fred She Said, and is called, Emma The Hugger – Snowman Edition – Decoupage & Print Pack.  I know, another really long name, I think that’s because this is older, and as she has added more digital items, the names have gotten shorter;) lol  The kit comes with several sentiments, but I love this one! 🙂  The paper is from a separate set, called FSS – Christmas Papers 1 – 2009.  When you see the next card and then check out the paper set, you’ll notice I have adjusted the paper  a little, I did get permission from Fred She Said to do this;)  The FSS SALE still has a few days, check it out!

Now for my second card:

Half-fold Card1Yes, I made the FSS paper purple! lol  I love it, it makes the card more girly, I think:)  The next few will be more for boys.  The image is from Doodle Pantry, called Cocoa Cup Ants.  I like Doodle Pantry images because, besides being pre-colored, they have a lot of images that are geared toward children:)  This card will also be going to Send A Smile 4 Kids:)   I’m entering it in their challenge, they pick some nice cards, but also do a random choice for prizes! 😉  Doodle Pantry has a blog and a challenge, check it out here.

That’s it for today most likely.  My grandson should be up from his nap very soon and he is just a little tornado!  Nothing more will get done until he goes to bed for the night! LOL

Thanks for stopping by a second time! I’m always happy to have you visit! 🙂

Freshly Made #105 & Send A Smile 4 Kids

I have a Halloween card today for the Freshly Made Challenge #105.  I will be sending it to Send A Smile 4 Kids, but I will not be entering it there.  I already have two cards made and ready to show you tomorrow, or later today. It’s 1 am here now, so I may get to it later;)   One of those cards will be entered into the Send A Smile 4 Kids challenge.

Here is the sketch for this week, you still have time to join before Monday, noon I think.

FMS Final 105-001This is not as easy as it looks!  Lining up those 4 squares was really hard! LOL  Really though, it was hard……

I think it turned out really cute and some child on a hospital ward here in the USA will, I hope, enjoy it! 🙂 This is my favorite little girl, Emma, by Fred She Said!  This image is called Halloween – Emma The Cat Decoupage Sheet + extras.  Honestly, I think it’s one of the longest names in the store!  But she is soooo cute, and she comes with the purple pumpkin paper, and she can be layered too:)  What a deal, you need to go to the store because you won’t believe how inexpensive this piece of digital art is!  Also, there is a SALE going on, but hurry, it’s only until Sept. 30th!

FSS-FALL SALE 2013Well, that’s all for right now, I hope you can come back later:)  Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Friday Mashup #128 & Operation Write Home

Really quick card for right now, I hope to be back later:)  Here is a card I made for the Friday Mashup #128.

Here’s your Mashup Challenge:
Create a project with a “Fall/Harvest Food Theme (Preserves, Apples, Pumpkins etc.).”
Create a project using “Paper Piecing.”
Or Mash it Up and create a “Fall Food themed project with some Paper Piecing ”

Half-fold Card1The apple image is from Clearly Digital Stamps.  Sadly, they will be closing Oct. 1st, so if you would like something, run over there now!  Here is the info regarding the store closing and what will happen to the artwork after the close: Clearly Digital Stamps.

I will also sending this card along to Operation Write Home.  The troops like dimension, but you can’t add too much or it may get caught in the postal service machinery, also, the person who is mailing it might have to pay extra to send it:(  That darn “floofy” charge, I get hit with it all the time:(  For those of you confused, in the USA if you mail a card that is too “floofy” or thick, there is an extra charge added on.  I call it “floofy” because I get hit whenever I add bubble wrap to protect my embellishments:(

Ok, that’s it for now.  Thanks for stopping by! 🙂  I have lots more cards to make, see you soon! 🙂

Freshly Made #103 & Send A Smile 4 Kids

Wow, I have 5 cards to share today!  All of them are Halloween or Fall.  I won’t share a lot of details today because there are so many cards.  I will say they are all based on the same Freshly Made Sketch #103.  Here’s the sketch:

FMS Final 103-001The first card is the one I made that is closest to the sketch, so I will start with the images by Doodle Pantry. You can click on any of my cards to make them larger:

Half-fold Card1This one is Franken-Birdie, from Doodle Pantry.

Half-fold Card3Ok, I thought he was cute and I love the ribbon, even if it doesn’t look the best here, it’s shiny black, orange and purple squares are really a standout! See previous card for the links;)

Half-fold Card2This one is Pumpkin Carving Ants, also by Doodle Pantry. On this same page, at Doodle Pantry, you can see a pumpkin image Free with any purchase Sept 5th thru Sept 24th.  Here is where you can get a Free image just for joining this months challenge.  They have uncolored digis, but you know I’m loving their Pre-colored images;)

Now, I have two more cards, both made with digital images from Fred She Said.

Half-fold Card5Here’s Emma in the Leaves, from Fred She Said.

Half-fold Card4And my last card for today, Halloween Rosey, from Fred She Said.  I’ll be making extras of all these cards to share with Send A Smile 4 Kids, and Operation Write Home.  On the 15th of Sept., Sunday for those of you here in the US, Fred She Said will be one of the sponsors for the Glitter n Sparkle Challenge.  Head over there on Sunday and enter to win Fred She Said or other digital prizes!

OMGoodness, I’m exhausted!  I’m getting too old for these late nights!  Hopefully you won’t be reading this at 1am, unless you’re in Australia (Robyn), in that case it won’t actually be 1am;)  lol

Thanks for stopping by, I’m grateful for your interest! 🙂   I hope to be back soon with more cards for you to see! 🙂

Freshly Made #102 & Doodle Pantry #38

Wow, these one week challenges really run me ragged!  I have about 6 cards ready to put together, but not enough time to do it:(   I only have one card today, but I will be using the same sketch again.  This weeks sketch is brought to you by Freshly Made Sketches #102.  I will also enter this card over at the Doodle Pantry challenge #38, and finally, I will be adding it to my Operation Write Home box🙂

Here is the sketch for Freshly Made #102.

FMS Final 102-001Here’s my card:

Half-fold Card1I think this looks a little brighter than it actually is, but only a little.  I used the auto correct feature, but the card is really bright! 🙂  For this card, I used all Doodle Pantry, it’s from a kit called Vintage Stocking.  It’s one of the new images for September.  You can check out the blog, enter the blog challenge, or check out the sale going on until Sept. 11th.

Using my Print Shop, which I always do, I printed the green paper with the purple layered behind it and cut that layer out, I also printed the blue layer with the purple layer attached and cut that out.  I made the purple oval on PS also and cut it out backing it with plain cardstock, because the paper I print on for images isn’t very thick. The stocking is printed, cut out, then layered onto of the purple oval.  I cut and pasted to get the stocking border to look like a ribbon.  I think next time I will make it smaller.  I do like how it turned out though:)

When making cards for Operation Write Home, I try to give the cards some dimension, without making them bulky or have things that might poke through an envelope.  These cards go to a sorting and packaging stop before getting sent off to our troops and then sent back to our troops loved ones.  Lots of traveling, so it must hold up during the travels;)

I have a bunch of things started so I know I will be back sooner than later!  Thanks for stopping by today!:)  I truly appreciate your interest in my cards and causes! 🙂

Freshly Made #101

Here I am again:)  I thought I would whip together a quick card tonight;)  Ha, ha!  This card looks simple, and it’s not hard, but it took forever!  I was thinking of sending this to Operation Write Home.  Now everything I make for this cause gets taped and glued!   I’m used to using the Stampin’ Up! Tombow glue.  I use it for all my crafts and I think it works great, plus it gives me a few seconds to adjust my layers before setting them.  With tape, it grabs right away and I don’t have any time to adjust:(  Some of you may notice my layers aren’t as perfect as they should be:(  Next time will be faster and better……I’m hoping;)

Anyway….I made this card for the challenge over at Freshly Made cards #101.  Here is their sketch:

FMS Final 101-001I know, looks pretty simple, right?  Here’s my card:

Half-fold Card2Still looks simple, but keep in mind, every layer was taped and glued!  Also, I don’t remember where I got this digital paper from, but I love it, and I made the plain paper to match the image paper.  If you click to enlarge, you can see that the snowflakes are made with a Memory Box Die, that’s the top layer.  Then I have the blue snowflake paper, layer 2.  Below that is the dark blue paper that I printed on brochure-matte paper, layer 3.  There are two layers of cardstock under that layer to make it level with the flags, layers 4 & 5.  Under that is a layer of swiss dots, layer 6.  Then another layer of dark blue, layer 7, and finally the card back.  I also layered the flags onto each other, and mounted them on a piece of cardstock so the dots wouldn’t show through the papers, they aren’t very thick.

Wow, I’m exhausted just telling you about it!  I just printed the snowflake paper, and cut it to size.  All the blue sheets I made from the original snowflake paper.  I have a free program called Artweaver, I opened my snowflake paper, then two empty boxes.  I used the eye dropper tool to pick up the colors I wanted from the original, then used the paint bucket to fill the empty boxes.  After that you need to save the boxes to your computer  in a folder with a name.  You need to make sure you save it in jpg format.  Not so simply made, but I think I made it look simple;) lol

If you’ve left a comment on my blog in August, I will be choosing a winner this week from all the entries for the Stampin’ Up! embossing folder.  So be sure to check back:)

Thanks for coming by today, I said I’d be back soon;)  I’m always glad when you come by! 🙂   I’ll see you again this week, maybe twice:)

Merry Monday #72

OMGoodness, I’m down to the wire today!  I didn’t glue the Blue Jay circle down last night and when I got up this morning, it was missing!  My two year old grandson thought it looked pretty and walked off with it.  I spent at least 20 minutes searching for it, and then the Blue Jay was smudged:(  I had to quickly print out another one, cut it out and layer it again.  Not too worse for wear, I don’t think:)

Anyway……the card I have for you today is for Merry Monday #72.  Here is the sketch from Merry Monday:

MM72And here is my card, you can click on it to make it larger:

Half-fold Card1The main image is from the Fred She Said Store, called Blue Jay.  I used the pre-colored set;)  I popped up the Blue Jay and then had to add a second layer.  I hope you can see that the bird has been popped up, you can click on it to make it larger.  I used some silver paper behind the Blue Jay that I bought last year at Michaels.  For the Peace and the lined snowflakes, I used Class A Peel stickers from Stampendous! I had to add some glue to them to make sure they would stick as long as I wanted them to. The snowy background paper was on my computer, I’m sorry I don’t remember where I found it:(

It looks simple but the snowflake stickers were actually a pain to glue and stick down:(  I love how it turned out though:)  Now I have to run off to Merry Monday, the challenge is about to close and I want to be sure and enter:)

Thanks for stopping by today!  I’ll be working on another card today, so be sure and come back:)
