SAS4Kids, Happy Holidays or AG

Hello everyone! πŸ™‚Β  Are you getting excited for Christmas or something like it?!Β  I’ve had a request from one of my hospitals for more generic sentiments instead of “Merry Christmas”.Β  I didn’t pick the title, but it reminded me that some people don’t celebrate Christmas.Β  Feel free to send in cards with different sentiments like: Happy Holidays, Seasons Greetings, Holiday Wishes.Β  There are lots to choose from lately, but you can also make “Christmas” cards and leave the sentiment off πŸ˜‰

I have my own card to share that you can find over on the SAS4Kids blog πŸ™‚Β  Check it out for other cards with inspiration! πŸ™‚Β  Here is my card:

DSC00871

I used the same paper pad as last week, “Sugarblush”, by Recollections, from Michaels.Β  The black with snowflakes was printed off my computer, as well as the sentiment.Β  I thought pink would be fun for the kids πŸ™‚

Now I have a guest this week, Debbie Caldwell from MI πŸ™‚Β  Debbie is a repeat sender and she’s made some great cards for the kids that are Post Office friendly for the kids to share with their family or friends πŸ™‚

Debbie has used some great papers, a lot are the same with different layouts πŸ™‚Β  She used some great layouts more than once as well πŸ™‚Β  These cards all still look different and will not all go to the same hospital, so these are great choices! πŸ™‚Β  These are more Winter cards than Christmas, but she also sent Christmas that I will share another week πŸ™‚

Thank you Debbie for sharing these wonderful cards with our kids in the hospital! πŸ™‚Β  I know these cards will be loved! πŸ™‚

Thank you to all my card makers for sharing their talents! πŸ™‚Β  Your cards bring lots of smiles to our kids! πŸ™‚

If you’re just stopping by for some inspiration, I hope you found some! πŸ™‚Β  We are happy to share what we do for kids in the hospital to help cheer them and make them smile! πŸ™‚ We have volunteers in a number of states, we would be happy to accept your donation of cards, if you would like to share πŸ™‚Β  We appreciate A2 cards as they are easier to mail.Β  You can contact any of our volunteers on our contact page and see if the size cards you make would be acceptable πŸ™‚

If you already make and donate cards, I’m pretty sure you’ve had this conversation with your volunteer πŸ™‚

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ll visit again! πŸ™‚

Personal share with a senior center

Hi Ladies πŸ™‚Β  Some of you know that I have a personal card share with a senior center.Β  For those of you who don’t know, it is in no way part of Send A Smile 4 Kids!Β  This is personal in honor of my mother who has passed.Β  My Mother lived in the same town since I was born, more than 50 years!Β  My siblings and I all grew up there.Β  My brother still lives in the same house.

My mother really enjoyed the senior center after my father passed.Β  She made many friends, went on trips, and enjoyed many other activities πŸ™‚Β  After she passed a few years ago, I decided to do something nice for the seniors that attend there now, in honor of my mother πŸ™‚Β  Since I am a card maker, I make cards for the seniors to send to their family and friends πŸ™‚

I’ve decided to share some of these cards with you so you can see how I make cards that are flat for mailing πŸ™‚Β  You can send me cards for “my” seniors, but, of course, you don’t “have” to.Β  This is not part of SAS4Kids!

These cards are as “flat” as can be made.Β  The Post Office loves to add on postage, but I don’t want the seniors to have to do that πŸ™‚Β  They do not have glitter, buttons, brads, bows, large gems or anything that might make them bulky.Β  You can use layers, without pop-ups πŸ˜‰

The cards I send are some of the same sentiments as SAS4Kids:

Winter, Christmas, Valentines, Spring, Easter, Patriotic, Summer, Fall, Thanksgiving, Get Well, Sympathy, Miss You, Hi/Hello, Thinking of you, or Birthday.Β  All cards are blank.

I’m sorry for such a long explanation 😦  Here are some samples I made this week:

DSC00856

I love how the first card came out! πŸ™‚Β  It’s a layout I use a lot, but it’s so pretty with the pinks and gold.Β  I used a paper pad from Michaels, Recollections,” Sugarblush.”Β  It has pink Santa’s that I’m using for the kids πŸ™‚Β  I used two gold cardstock papers that I bought at Micheals in the individual section. I also used Stampin’ Up! Melon Mambo, and their new snowflakes that are available from Nov. 1st to Nov. 30th only.Β  I can help you order them if you don’t have a demo πŸ™‚Β  I also used all Stampin’ Up! punches and dies.Β  The sentiments were printed on my computer.

Next I have the masculine cards I made:)

DSC00853

This card is the same layout as the first pink one above.Β  I think it still needs something, a snowflake?Β  Suggestions?

DSC00858

DSC00859

For these three cards I used a paper pad from Carta Bella called, “Let It Snow”.Β  For these three cards I used general sentiments.Β  Any “theme” paper can be made into a general sentiment card. This last card is a great example of using Fall paper and making it into one of the sentiments we use all the time πŸ™‚Β  It could just as easily say Hi/Hello, Smile, Happy Birthday, or any other sentiment you have πŸ™‚

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the cards I made! πŸ™‚Β  I will be back again on Nov. 3rd with a card post for Send A Smile 4 Kids, I hope you will come back! πŸ™‚

Thank you to anyone already sending cards for “my seniors”! πŸ™‚

SAS4Kids with Fall or Holiday Wishes

Hello everyone! πŸ™‚Β  What a beautiful day it is here where I live, lots of sunshine! πŸ™‚Β  I have a short post for you today.Β  I haven’t been getting very many cards yet, so I have a few I’ve made πŸ™‚Β  They’re general sentiments with a Fall and Winter themes πŸ™‚

First, here is my card for today’s Send A Smile 4 Kids challenge πŸ™‚

a1DSC00804

For my card, I used Stampin’ Up! cardstock, the pumpkin paper is from Carta Bella, Hello Fall.Β  The pumpkin image is from Etsy, I added the “Happy Birthday” with a digital file.Β  The pumpkin embossing folder is from Cuttlebug, and I used a Stampin’ Up! die to cut out the Happy Birthday pumpkin πŸ™‚

I love this card, a great example of Fall theme with a general sentiment! πŸ™‚Β  I have a couple more for you πŸ™‚

aDSC00836

This card info is below, except I used Stampin’ Up! Crumb Cake card stock on this one.

aDSC00834

For both of these cards I used Echo Park, Celebrate Winter πŸ™‚Β  All of my paper pads are 6×6, I think the graphics are just the right size for cards πŸ™‚Β  Although I did buy the 12×12 solid paper pack.

I love the sentiments on both of these cards!Β  You may be surprised where I got the Celebrate Winter sentiment.

DSC00825

I cut it off the bottom of one of the solid 12×12 sheets, it runs across the bottom of the card stock!Β  I’ve probably seen it before, but it never occurred to me, that I could use it as a sentiment! Β  I don’t usually get the solid paper packs because Stampin’ Up! has such great colors, they match almost everything! πŸ™‚Β  I did use Stampin’ Up! Real Red for behind the sentiment πŸ˜‰

DSC00826

I hope you enjoyed my cards πŸ™‚Β  Hopefully I’ll start getting some Winter and Christmas cards in so I can share them with you! πŸ™‚

Thank you to everyone who donates cards to our cause, Send A Smile 4 Kids, we couldn’t do this without you! πŸ™‚

If you’re just stopping by, I hope you’ve gotten some inspiration from my cards today πŸ™‚Β  The holidays aren’t the only thing going on in any given month!Β  Kids still need general cards to fill in πŸ™‚Β  I’ll be having more Winter and Christmas cards to share soon, I hope you’ll come back! πŸ™‚

Send A Smile 4 Kids Challenge #180

Hello visitors! πŸ™‚Β  I’m so happy to be here for the SAS4Kids Celebration Cards 4 Kids Challenge #180! πŸ™‚Β  I’m posting my card and you can go to our blog to see the other cards made for the challenge, and you can join in too! πŸ™‚Β  Here is my card:

aDSC00796

I was thinking boy, Winter, Birthday πŸ™‚Β  I used a Birthday die from Stampin’ Up!, and all Stampin’ Up! cardstock.Β  The printed paper is from a stack by Carta Bella, called Cabin Fever, I love this paper stack.Β  If you can’t find the paper anymore, you can get it digital from Snap Click Supply.Β  I used the digital 6×6 paper #1&2.Β  I have a nice Cannon printer and I used Matte, photo paper.

This post will be a little long, I have two guests to share their cards! πŸ™‚Β  First is Brenda Zellner πŸ™‚

Most of Brenda’s cards are Winter cards, but there are some Christmas included as well πŸ™‚Β  Thank you Brenda for these wonderful cards, they are perfect for our kids! πŸ™‚

Next I have cards from Paula Kysilka πŸ™‚Β  Paula lives in FL but truly understands Winter, and Christmas from a lot of other states! πŸ™‚

Thank you Paula, these are also wonderful cards that our kids will love! πŸ™‚Β  Thank you both for sharing your talents! πŸ™‚

Lots of these cards have general sentiments, and very few actual “Merry Christmas” cards.Β  I’ve been asked to send more cards that have Non-“Merry Christmas” sentiments, such as “Happy Holidays”, “Seasons Greetings”, and such.Β  I know it’s a sign of the times we live in, but it makes me sad just the same 😦

I want to thank all of my donors who can “go with the flow” and adjust to whatever our hospitals ask for! πŸ™‚

Thank you all for stopping by! πŸ™‚Β  I hope you’ll come back again and maybe join our challenge! πŸ™‚Β  You don’t have to make cards to enjoy our wonderful card makers efforts! πŸ™‚

I hope you all can celebrate the holiday season whatever way makes you happy! πŸ™‚

Now, on to some cards! πŸ™‚Β  I have two cards from one of our sponsors, Fred She Said Designs πŸ™‚Β  This link goes right to the page of this set called Christmas Poinsettia Packs: Red or Blue πŸ™‚

My Project2

This first card was made with items in the pack, except for the shiny gold medallion behind the flower.Β  The medallion is from Stampin’ Up!, it’s retired, but I had a few left over from last year.Β  It’s just an idea how you can make the pack items look a little different.Β  I also used Stampin’ Up! Real Red cardstock for my base layer πŸ™‚

aDSC00439

This is the second card I made using the Christmas Poinsettia Pack, from Fred She Said πŸ™‚Β  I’m sorry, parts of this look a little blurry to me 😦  I hope you all can see it okay πŸ™‚Β  I used just the Poinsettia from the pack and mounted the whole thing of Stampin’ Up! Real Red.Β  The black paper is from Carta Bella, Christmas Delivery paper pack #2.Β  Nope, I don’t have it sitting around, I bought it from Snap Click Supply.Β  It’s a digital paper pack, and it printed out beautifully on Canon, Matte, photo paper.

Behind the black designer paper is just some Stampin’ Up! Basic Black. For the Memory Box, Holly Vine, I used Stampin’ Up! Garden Green. I used a set by Avery Elle called Winter Woodland Wonders for the “Merry Christmas” sentiment. Lastly, I used a retired embellishment for the middle of my flower from Stampin’ Up!

The Poinsettia was so easy to cut out once it was printed, also on Canon, Matte, photo paper.Β  This card shows that you can take items you have sitting around, add a FSS Christmas Poinsettia and you have a beautiful card! πŸ™‚

Now, I will be giving away, free, to one of my commenters, one of two Stampin’ Up! Party Pandas stamp sets! πŸ™‚Β  All you have to do is make a comment on my blog and you will be entered to win! πŸ™‚

I made a card for this occasion, the set is usually for Birthdays, but I saw a panda with a Christmas hat somewhere and thought it was so cute! πŸ™‚

DSC00468

I used Stampin’ Up!Β  Real Red cardstock.Β  The tree is from Peaceful Pines, the sentiment from Snowflake Sentiments, The hat is from Jolly Friends, it also had a punch for the hat, and of course, the panda is from Party Pandas, all sets from Stampin’ Up! I believe they are all retired, but Stampin’ Up! has a lot of sets that are similar and the new Holiday catalog will be coming out before you know it! πŸ™‚

I cut down the hat and white hat band, it was a little too big, but it helped to have the punch πŸ˜‰Β  The panda actually has a card in his hand.Β  I cut out his arms and made a little Christmas gift and colored it with Stampin’ Up! markers.Β  I drew the bow right onto his lower face πŸ˜‰Β  The inks I used were Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Real Red and Early Espresso on the tree trunk.

I am personally supplying 3 Stampin’ Up! stamp sets.Β  One on Dena’s blog and 2 on my blog.Β  I have two sets of Party Pandas πŸ™‚Β  These were very popular and very cute! πŸ™‚

DSC00469

I enjoyed making all these cards and encourage you to check out Fred She Said and Stampin’ Up!

Thank you so much for supporting Send a Smile 4 Kids and our wonderful sponsors of this blog hop. Good luck in the drawings! Leave a comment here and hop for more chances at many prizes.

THE NEXT STOP IS: Anne Slattery

Freshly Made Sketches #319 & Encouragement

Some of you must wonder what I do that I don’t have time for many cards.Β  I adopted one of my grandsons, and he’s only 6.Β  Quite a handful for someone in their 60s, at least I think so! lolΒ  I also have 2 sons, 3 daughters and 10 other grandchildren! πŸ™‚Β  Four of my granddaughters live right down the street and their family doesn’t have a car so I do all the driving.Β  Plus I manage cards for 4 hospitals!Β  There is seldom a dull moment in my house! lol

You may think all this time I haven’t made any cards, but I have πŸ™‚Β  I’m going to show you some of my cards today, because my theme is Encouragement cards.Β  A number of people have asked about Encouragement cards, so I’m going to show you some, and give my advice for making them, and it’s easy! πŸ™‚

First off I want to show the card I made for Freshly Made Sketches #319, I will also post it on the Send A Smile 4 Kids challenge blog πŸ™‚Β  Here is the #319 sketch:

FMS Final 319-001

And here is my card:

aDSC01813

What can I say, my cards aren’t really exciting, I make them for kids, I try to make them cute and fun πŸ˜‰Β  What can be more cute and fun than this adorable little panda?!Β  You can get it free from Stampin’ Up! with a $50 purchase during Sale a Bration! πŸ™‚Β  I bought the cute envelope paper at Snap Click Supply Co.Β  I got it last week on $1.00 Wednesday.Β  They have rotating digital products for sale every Wednesday πŸ™‚Β  I saw the paper and knew right away what I wanted to do.Β  I fussy cut my little panda.Β  As always I kept close to the sketch and my card is clean and simple πŸ™‚

Now for some other cards I’ve been making:

This is mostly digital papers that I printed with my computer and printer, but you could use paper stacks.Β  You could use any paper, with any theme.Β  People seem confused when I say Winter theme cards.Β  These are Winter themed Encouragement cards.Β  Winter papers with Encouraging sentiments πŸ™‚

Also Winter themed with Encouraging words.

I made these Winter themed Encouragement cards with older (teen, pre-teen) kids in mind.Β  All Stampin’ Up! products.Β  These are certainly not the only type of card that is Encouraging.Β  Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer all have nice papers and images that can be considered Encouraging πŸ™‚

I’m including some cards from Vicki Luebke of IN πŸ™‚

Now click on the images to enlarge and read some of the sentiments.Β  Some of my sentiments were rubber stamps and some printed off my computer.Β  I’m pretty sure Vickie’s were computer generated.Β  It works out great if you can size them so they fit into punches or dies that you already have.Β  Please no hand written sentiments.

There are many more sentiments that you can find or print.Β  Great Job, Good Job, Have a Wonderful Day, Wishing you Sunshine, You Did it, Congrats, Be Brave, Be Strong, Be Happy, Smiles, Hugs, Enjoy Your Day, Make Memories, Have Fun.Β  If you can think of anything that might be good for Encouragement, feel free to add it to the comment section!

If you still have questions, you can ask in the comments or email me for a more personal answer πŸ™‚Β  I plan to make more Encouragement cards for other Seasons.

Thank you Vicki for letting me share your Encouraging cards!

I hope you all have enjoyed these cards! πŸ™‚Β  Thanks for coming by whether you send in cards or just join us for inspiration, I appreciate your interest! πŸ™‚Β  I hope you can come by again! πŸ™‚

It’s was warm earlier this week but we’ve fallen back down to the single digits 😦  Hence my signature of snowmen! lolΒ  Spring is coming…….sometime…….wait for it! πŸ™‚

Freshly Made Sketches #311 & guests

Hello! πŸ™‚Β  It seems like I never have time to make cards myself anymore 😦  But I made one today, plus I have guest cards to share, I hope you’re ready! πŸ™‚

My card will be submitted at Freshly Made Sketches #311 I will also post it on the Send A Smile 4 Kids challenge blog πŸ™‚Β  I’m thinking this card would be good for a teen πŸ˜‰Β  Here’s this weeks sketch:

FMS Final 311-001

Here’s my card:

aDSC01515

I thought it was a little hard to see, so I took the photo again with a green background.

aDSC01518

It’s hard to tell about the silver accents in either photo I think 😦

Well, on to my guest donors πŸ™‚Β  First I have Deborah Caldwell of MI πŸ™‚

Thanks Debbie for these great Christmas cards! πŸ™‚Β  I love to get cards early for a holiday! πŸ™‚Β  Some of our kids need to mail their cards and I like to have plenty of time for them to get where they need to go πŸ™‚

Next I have Janelle Klapperich of SD πŸ™‚Β  Janelle sent her cards in Oct. so I have some Fall and some early Christmas to share πŸ™‚

Thank you Janelle for the great cards and the early Christmas! πŸ™‚

Now I want to share some cards from Trish Cudney of MN πŸ™‚Β  Trish sent in Winter cards! πŸ™‚Β  Winter cards are really important, Christmas isn’t the only thing going on during Dec., Jan., and Feb.

Lots of Thinking of You, and “no sentiment” cards, these can be used for anything in the Winter! πŸ™‚Β  Really cute examples of layouts and look at those same images with different layouts and papers, you know I love those! πŸ™‚Β  Also, don’t be afraid to send up to 10 of the same card.Β  I have 4 hospitals now and can divide them up πŸ™‚

Thank you Trish for sending some early Christmas cards! πŸ™‚ Trish shared that the papers she used were 6×6 pads from Echo Park, “A Perfect Winter” and Carta Bella, “Cabin Fever”.

I appreciate you all and the wonderful cards you send for our kids! πŸ™‚Β  I can’t imagine our kids without holiday and general cards, I don’t even want to 😦  It must be so exciting to receive a card while in the hospital! πŸ™‚Β  You are the ones spreading those smiles, be proud! πŸ™‚

Thanks for coming by today and looking at the great cards that donors share! πŸ™‚Β  If you are part of our group, I’m so glad you’re here! πŸ™‚Β  If you just come by for inspiration, I hope you found some! πŸ™‚Β  I appreciate every one of you!! πŸ™‚

Please take a few minutes and check out both of the blogs linked above for more card ideas! πŸ™‚Β  Hope to see you again soon! πŸ™‚
