Freshly Made Sketches #319 & Encouragement

Some of you must wonder what I do that I don’t have time for many cards.  I adopted one of my grandsons, and he’s only 6.  Quite a handful for someone in their 60s, at least I think so! lol  I also have 2 sons, 3 daughters and 10 other grandchildren! 🙂  Four of my granddaughters live right down the street and their family doesn’t have a car so I do all the driving.  Plus I manage cards for 4 hospitals!  There is seldom a dull moment in my house! lol

You may think all this time I haven’t made any cards, but I have 🙂  I’m going to show you some of my cards today, because my theme is Encouragement cards.  A number of people have asked about Encouragement cards, so I’m going to show you some, and give my advice for making them, and it’s easy! 🙂

First off I want to show the card I made for Freshly Made Sketches #319, I will also post it on the Send A Smile 4 Kids challenge blog 🙂  Here is the #319 sketch:

FMS Final 319-001

And here is my card:

aDSC01813

What can I say, my cards aren’t really exciting, I make them for kids, I try to make them cute and fun 😉  What can be more cute and fun than this adorable little panda?!  You can get it free from Stampin’ Up! with a $50 purchase during Sale a Bration! 🙂  I bought the cute envelope paper at Snap Click Supply Co.  I got it last week on $1.00 Wednesday.  They have rotating digital products for sale every Wednesday 🙂  I saw the paper and knew right away what I wanted to do.  I fussy cut my little panda.  As always I kept close to the sketch and my card is clean and simple 🙂

Now for some other cards I’ve been making:

This is mostly digital papers that I printed with my computer and printer, but you could use paper stacks.  You could use any paper, with any theme.  People seem confused when I say Winter theme cards.  These are Winter themed Encouragement cards.  Winter papers with Encouraging sentiments 🙂

Also Winter themed with Encouraging words.

I made these Winter themed Encouragement cards with older (teen, pre-teen) kids in mind.  All Stampin’ Up! products.  These are certainly not the only type of card that is Encouraging.  Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer all have nice papers and images that can be considered Encouraging 🙂

I’m including some cards from Vicki Luebke of IN 🙂

Now click on the images to enlarge and read some of the sentiments.  Some of my sentiments were rubber stamps and some printed off my computer.  I’m pretty sure Vickie’s were computer generated.  It works out great if you can size them so they fit into punches or dies that you already have.  Please no hand written sentiments.

There are many more sentiments that you can find or print.  Great Job, Good Job, Have a Wonderful Day, Wishing you Sunshine, You Did it, Congrats, Be Brave, Be Strong, Be Happy, Smiles, Hugs, Enjoy Your Day, Make Memories, Have Fun.  If you can think of anything that might be good for Encouragement, feel free to add it to the comment section!

If you still have questions, you can ask in the comments or email me for a more personal answer 🙂  I plan to make more Encouragement cards for other Seasons.

Thank you Vicki for letting me share your Encouraging cards!

I hope you all have enjoyed these cards! 🙂  Thanks for coming by whether you send in cards or just join us for inspiration, I appreciate your interest! 🙂  I hope you can come by again! 🙂

It’s was warm earlier this week but we’ve fallen back down to the single digits 😦  Hence my signature of snowmen! lol  Spring is coming…….sometime…….wait for it! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches #308 & SAS4Kids

OMGoodness, it’s been too long again! 😦  I thought when school started it would calm down here……not so much 😉  But, I made a card!  Big laugh for those of you who send in cards for my hospitals!   Yes, I made one card! lol  And I’m going to enter that card at Freshly Made Sketches #308.  Here’s their sketch 🙂

FMS Final 308-001

Those of you who know me, know that I stick pretty close to the sketch, so here’s my card:

aDSC01409

Everything on this card is Stampin’ Up!  Almost everything is from the new Holiday catalog that you can see here on my page, upper right.  The sentiment is from an older set, but still Stampin’ Up!  I used the new Christmas Quilt Stamp set, Quilt Builder Framelits Dies, Quilted Christmas 6×6 Designer Series Paper, Stitched Felt Embellishments and the Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Quite a mouthful, but I can hardly wait to use it for other occasions than Christmas!  Also used is Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green Cardstock, and one of the sheets from the Designer paper stack.  I hope you like it 🙂

Now, on to my guests! 🙂  First I have Janelle Klapperich of SD 🙂

Thank you Janelle for these great Halloween cards and I love the Dinos! 🙂

Next, I have Andrea La Vigne of TX, who has a blog of her own that you can see here 🙂

Ok, the last one on the right, is because I just thought they were so darn cute! 🙂  Not for Halloween, just because 😉  Thank you Andrea for these wonderful cards, these are sure to please! 🙂

Last is Lillian Abrams from MI 🙂  Lillian says she has a friend who colored a lot of the cards and then she put them together, great job ladies! 🙂  Now this is a set up to get you in the mood for……..Christmas! 🙂

Thank you Lillian and your friend for these wonderful cards! 🙂  Look at all the girls cards, we need some boy cards 😉  Boy images are so hard to find 😦  Although I’m sure they would like Santa and the snowmen! 🙂

Thank you ladies for all your effort and dedication! 🙂  You make the world kids live in a better place! 🙂

Thank you all for coming to visit today, I hope you found some inspiration, and had some fun! 🙂  I appreciate every one of you, even if you don’t make cards! 🙂

I hope to see you again! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches #295 & Guests

It’s been busy around here but I found time to make a card! 🙂  I’m glad you could join us for some inspiration! 🙂  I’m back with another card for Freshly Made Sketchs #295.  Here is their sketch for this week.

FMS Final 295-001

Here is my card for this week 🙂

aDSC00827

Yes, another card for the kids we serve at Send A Smile 4 Kids 🙂  I used an adorable pre-colored digi from Fred She Said called “Emma in the Leaves Coloured“.  You can also get it uncolored in the section named Autumn.  I used Stampin’ Up! Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler, and Crushed Curry.  I also used the Stampin’ Up! Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  Included in the set are circles, squares and ovals.  I do have some buttons shaped like leaves, but couldn’t find them, so I used some foiled leave that I found in my stash 🙂

I like having Seasonal cards with different sentiments for the kids.  There’s more going on in every Season besides a holiday or Birthday! 😉  You can add encouraging words, general sentiments, as well as Happy Fall, Happy Halloween,Merry Christmas, etc.

I have guest cards today to share, I know everyone likes to see what everyone else is making! 🙂  First I have Jill Blasche of TX 🙂  Jill makes and sends in lots of cards! 🙂

Thank you Jill for this wide variety of wonderful cards! 🙂  Jill sent multiples of most of these cards! 🙂  A lot of cards for our Peds ICU!

Next I have Vicki Luebke of IN 🙂  Vicki also sends lots of cards and specializes in sending Encouragement cards! 🙂  Not sure what to send as an Encouragement card?  Look at some of these sentiments 🙂

The little boy with the frog is also Fred She Said, it’s called “Nolan & The Bullfrog“.  Thank you Vicki for these great cards for our boys and girls! 🙂

Lastly I have cards from Dr. Robin Hayworth of NY 🙂  Robyn has sent many cards 🙂

Robin doesn’t just send to me, I’ve seen thank yous on our gratitude page.  Robin is sending to several of our volunteers! 🙂  Thank you Robin for your dedication to our kids, with your beautiful cards! 🙂

Lots of variety today for just about everyone! 🙂  I’d like to thank, not just these three ladies, but all of my donors for their wonderful cards and their inspiration to me! 🙂

For the Send A Smile blog post, please visit here 🙂

If you come by just to visit, I’m thankful for your interest! 🙂  It’s easy to be a donor if you’d like to give it a try, please visit here, and then check out our other links at the top of the page 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches #242 & SAS4Kids

Summer has been hard!   With all the grandkids home and lots of medical and other appointments, I’ve had less time to spend crafting! 😦   Well, today, I found time to make one card! lol  Yes, one! lol   But, I have lots of cards sent in for Send A Smile 4 Kids to share!

First my card, I will enter it in the challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches #242 and also at the challenge for Send A Smile 4 Kids 🙂

FMS Final 242-001

a2SDC10663

OMGoodness, I love this new set from Stampin’ Up!, it’s called Best Birds 🙂  You can also get a die set to go with it! 🙂  I have to say, I love dies!  I cut a piece of magnet sheet and tape it (with very strong tape) to the back of my stamp box and they all stay right where I need them!  The stamps fit right on top of the dies 🙂

Everything on this card is from Stampin’ Up! unless noted! 🙂  I used a retired embossing folder with clouds for the background.  The So Saffron sun was die cut.  The bird is Marina Mist, and the branch is Pear Pizzazz.  The little thank you stamp is from Wishes Your Way (retired).

I had a lot of fun making this card, until I got Memento black ink fingerprints on it! 😦   It was so bad, I had to make a second one!  How disappointing! 😦  This card will be going into a box for one of my SAS4Kids hospitals 🙂  I’m a little short of Thank You cards right now, so I’m going to try and make more 🙂

I know you’re all waiting for more card inspiration and I  have a bunch for you! 🙂  First I have Judy Martin from PA 🙂  Judy is a repeat sender, thank you Judy! 🙂

Wonderful selection of cards, Judy! 🙂  I love all the fun Summer and water cards! 🙂  It was so much fun to add these to the boxes I just sent out!  Thank you Judy for being on my team! 🙂

Next is Lisa Simokaitis from IL 🙂  I love getting cards from my home state! 🙂

Great cards Lisa! I love all the animals, I know the kids will too, thank you! 🙂

Karen Peterson from NE is next 🙂  Karen makes a lot of her cards from kits and they’re wonderful! 🙂

Beautiful 3D flowers, Karen! 🙂  These cards are shiny and have gold accents 🙂  Thank you Karen! 🙂

Last for tonight is Lillian Abrams of MI 🙂  Lillian has a blog you can visit here 🙂

The last two cards are 6×6, aren’t they adorable! ?  I love all these cards Lillian! These are all fun and colorful, just perfect for kids! 🙂  Thank you so much! 🙂

That’s all I have for today, I hope you all have enjoyed looking at these great inspirations! 🙂   Please use all my links and check out all the sites mentioned! 🙂

Thank you to all my card makers who make it possible for me to send cards through Send A Smile 4 Kids to my 3 hospitals in IL! 🙂  I couldn’t do this without you!! 🙂

Thanks for coming by today, I appreciate your interest! 🙂  I hope to see you all again soon! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches #231 & SAS4Kids

I started feeling much better this week after taking some antibiotics! 🙂  No one knows what was exactly wrong, but the meds worked, YAY! 🙂

Today I have a card I made for Freshly Made Sketches #231.  I will also enter it into our own Send A Smile 4 Kids challenge, which is For Moms or Special Females from kids:)

FMS Final 231-001SDC19882

Yes, I stay pretty close to the sketches;)  you’re probably thinking I cut the two pieces on the right.  Nope, I actually cut two very small strips of black.  I should have added one on the left of my image too, I still may, before sending to one of my hospitals 🙂

The back is black, on top of that is my background image.  I should have taken a photo because it’s not a very wide image and what I did was put one image on the left and the other on the right and there is white in the center.  You only see one image that way.  The background image is from PC Hugware.  They’re no longer in business:(  But, you can get the cute Nolan & the BullFrog from Fred She Said! 🙂

I was reminded of this image by my daughter telling her kids the other day how her and her brothers went fishing one year and when they came home they knocked on the door.  When I went to the door, they had this big bull frog right in my face, made me jump! lol Right away I thought of little Nolan taking his mom a bull frog for Mother’s Day 🙂

The sentiment is from Stampin’ Up! Teeny Tiny Wishes 🙂

Ok, that’s enough from me, I have two guests today, the first is Ann Merkins of MN 🙂

You really need to click on these and make them bigger! 🙂  Ann has told me she makes these cards with napkins!  She didn’t tell me how she does it though:(  They’re sparkly! 🙂

I have never seen napkins this pretty in my life! 🙂  They really make beautiful cards! 🙂

The card on the far left is so beautiful, the colors are stunning!  I really like the card on the far right too! 🙂  Ann made several quilt cards in different colors and designs, they’re all beautiful! 🙂  Thank you Ann for such wonderful cards for our kids to share with their moms! 🙂

Next I have Janelle Klapperich of SD 🙂

You all know I love when you use the same papers, layouts or images in different ways! 🙂 The two cards on the left look really different, even though they’re basically the same 😉  Now I could split these up and send to two different hospitals, but I don’t think it would matter, even if they were on the same floor 😉

Janelle uses a lot of Stampin’ Up! products! 🙂  All three of the cards to the right are made with Botanical Blooms, stamp and die bundle.  Also the one above with the yellow flower 🙂  It’s still available in the Stampin’ Up! Spring Occasions Catalog until May 31st! 🙂  Yes, I do sell Stampin’ Up!, I just don’t push anyone to buy it 😉

I didn’t buy this set, because I didn’t care for the examples I had seen 😦  If I had seen Janelle’s examples I would have had this already! 🙂  The green card in the center is gorgeous!   Janelle did such a great job, you should enlarge it 😉

Here’s a peek at some Father’s Day cards! 🙂  More Stampin’ Up! products! 🙂  These are all great Father’s Day cards! 🙂  I really love the plane, and I have that set! 🙂  Thank you Janelle for sharing these wonderful cards with our kids! 🙂  I’m sure the dads will be thrilled! 🙂

Well, I’m off to bed, I won’t stay well if I don’t get my sleep!  It snowed here last night and was still on the grass this morning!  I hope you all are having some better weather! 🙂

Thanks for coming by today, I hope you all have a great week and come back again soon! 🙂

Doodle Pantry #14, SAS4Kids, Guests

It seems I’ve settled into posting once a week, but I’m going to try and post twice a week:)  It’s just so darn busy around here!  With 7 people in one apartment, we just seem to recycle all the germs! 😦

Anyway, I’m going to enter this card in the challenge at Doodle Pantry, ANTS IN MY PANTRY DIGITAL CHALLENGE 14.   Also, at our own, SAS4Kids, Anything Goes 4 Kids Challenge.

aSDC19170

aSDC19176

I actually made this card for my brother’s birthday.  My “baby” brother just turned 57, so hard to believe!  I like this card so much, I’m going to make more than a couple of them for the kids! 🙂

I used an image from Doodle Pantry, they are one of our sponsors over at our SAS4Kids challenge! 🙂  This image is called Sweet Stuff and it’s free with any purchase! 🙂 The stripe paper is also in the kit with other candies and papers:)

I used a number of Stampin’ Up! products and I will list them in this paragraph.  Embossing folder Large Polka Dot, cardstock, Real Red & Daffodil Delight, Stamp set A Round Array,  with circle punches 1″ round, 7/8″ scallop, and for the inside I used the 1/2″ circle punch for the gumballs, and Smoky Slate ink pad.

The little blue gumball was cut from one of the papers I printed from the DP kit:)

Now on to some guests! 🙂  I have quite a collection tonight of mixed cards and some Easter:)  My first guest is Robin Hayworth from NY:)  Robin is a retired Dr. and her cards are clean & simple! 🙂

Aren’t these cute, I love them all!  These are great cards for not only the younger ones but up into the next age group:)  Great encouragement cards!

I love all the colors on these, bright and fun! 🙂

Here are some that would be great for the older kids!  The flowers look hand painted! 🙂 Thank you Robin for these great cards! 🙂

My next guest is Kayla Ford from IL, my home state:)  Kayla is going to knock you out with her colors and papers!

What did I tell you, bright and fun!  🙂

Even the “plain” kite card is adorable!  These cards will bring sunshine to any room!  Thank you Kayla for sharing your talent with our kids! 🙂

Jill Blasche from TX is next, she has been with me since I started and I love how I can ask her to make cards a certain way, and she does 🙂

Jill has a lot of sentiment stamps that I love!  Look how different these cards are!

I had asked Jill to make some cards for teen boys, aren’t these great! ?  Not girly at all!

I hope you get a kick out of the ones on the left:)  My grandson, 4, colored these dinos, and I showed Jill, she asked if Lawrence would color some for her, and here they are!  I think she did an awesome job, and so does Lawrence! 🙂  On the right, the tea cup card, has some beautiful gold stitching across the center, and I sent her the rose.  It’s new from Stampin’ Up! the stamp set is called Rose Wonder, but all I used was the Rose Garden Thinlits Dies.  I used my Big Shot to cut it out of white card stock, then I colored it with Blendabilities (retired).  I love the way Jill put it on the sparkly craft cardstock and embossed it with dots all over! 🙂  Thank you Jill, for sharing with our kids and being a wonderful friend! 🙂

This post is getting pretty long, so one more guest, Ruby Taylor, from MS:)

These are so cute and bright, Ruby made several of each design, so more kids can enjoy them! 🙂  Thank you Ruby and all of my card makers, you are talented and generous! 🙂  I appreciate every single one of you! 🙂  I’m excited every time I get a box to share with our kids! 🙂

Thank you everyone who has stopped by today to visit, I appreciate you too! 🙂  I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing the cards and maybe got some inspiration for your own cards.  Please visit our sponsor, Doodle Pantry, and our SAS4Kids challenge blog! 🙂  Hope to see you again soon!

The Paper Players #265 & Halloween guests for SAS4Kids

Okay, we’re winding down on the Halloween cards, but not tonight!  Tonight, I have three guests with cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids! 🙂  First, my card for the challenge over at the Paper Players #265🙂  It’s a Halloween challenge! 🙂

pp265pumpkinThere were no guidelines, except to make a Halloween card.  I chose to make a Stampin’ Up! circle thinlits card.  I’ve been thinking about making this type of card for a few weeks.  Then some came in for SAS4Kids, and I knew I had to put one together! 🙂  I even used one of the same papers:)

The card base is Stampin’ Up! Tangerine Tango, and I used Motley Monsters DSP from last year for the right side.  The cute puppy and the moon are from Lawn Fawn, they come with matching dies.  The candy corn on the left I bought at Michaels at least a year ago, it’s all sparkly:)  My granddaughter approved this card, as a matter of fact, she wants to keep it! 🙂  I guess I’ll have to make at least one more! 😉

Now on to our guests!  My first guest is a repeat sender, Nancy Simmons, from FL:)  Nancy makes great cards and usually uses a lot of ribbon.  Today she has used Bakers Twine.  I’m only showing some of her cards.  She made a few designs but changed up the papers and sent multiples! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis is how I display them in my log book.  I keep track of everything! 🙂  There are even more than this, but here are some close-ups:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Nancy is another one of my cardmakers who is a wiz at changing papers around to make cards look different!  I’m not good at this, it takes me forever just to pick out one paper! lol

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAAren’t these great?!  I know Nancy uses Stampin’ Up! products a lot of the time! 🙂  I love all these cards, they’re fun and definitely not-too-scary! Thank you Nancy for the great cards! 🙂

Next I have Tammy Gullett from IA:)  Tammy is also a repeat sender!  I love all my cardmakers, I have a great group! 🙂 Tammy also sent some great cards! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAWhat fun cards, I know the kids won’t be afraid of these! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis a great Frankie card!  I’m sorry my photo is a little blurry, but I couldn’t take a new photo:(  All these cards have been packed in boxes and are ready to be mailed out this week:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAHere is Tammy’s card that gave me the idea to use the Stampin’ Up! DSP.  Tammy used a similar technique, but I can’t tell if she used the die I used.  These are all wonderful cards to share with our kids, Thank you Tammy for sending them in! 🙂

My last guest today is Andrea La Vigne from TX:)  Andrea has her own blog 🙂  Please visit Andrea’s Paper Antics for more details on her cards:)  I’ve linked the page for this card, because it’s awesome, but she has plenty of other cards that are great as well! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis is an awesome shaped card with sequins inside! 🙂  The kids are going to be jealous of whoever gets this one! lol  Andrea tells how she made it on her blog, so be sure to check it out! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAI love the papers Andrea uses, and her layouts are great too! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAI love these 4 cards!  They are such gentle Halloween cards!  I know any age would appreciate these cards! 🙂

Thank you Andrea for sharing your talents with us and the kids! 🙂  Andrea is also a repeat sender:)

I don’t think I can thank my cardmakers enough for all they do for the kids at Send A Smile 4 Kids! 🙂  Check out the SAS4Kids challenge blog to see what other cardmakers are sending in for our hospitals! 🙂

Thanks for coming by today! 🙂  I appreciate everyone who visits my blog too! 🙂 I hope you can come back again soon! 🙂
