Freshly Made Sketches #177

Wow, here I am with 3 new cards, and I made them all!  Shocking, I know!  lol  Okay, I actually made one last week and didn’t get a chance to post it;)  Still counts as me making it:)

The first card I made for the challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches #177.  Here’s their sketch for this week:

FMS Final 177-001And my card

SDC15053aYes, it looks almost exactly like the sketch;)  But the color is a little off:(  The background and the sentiment are both Very Vanilla from Stampin’ Up!.  The next layer is not grey, it’s Sahara Sand also Stampin’ Up!  The ribbon is Primrose Petals Seam Binding (retired).  The seam binding and the other embellishments come from a retired set from 2013 called Embellishments Artisan Kit from Stampin’ Up!  (Not the current Artisan kit)

OMGoodness, all that info is correct, but I couldn’t stand it, I had to stop everything and go take more photos!!

abSDC15057Ok, now does it look better?  It’s a little dark, but the colors are more true.  I’m happy now:) This is the card I will enter in the challenge.

This next card, I made for the challenge, but decided it had too much going on.  Any opinions?

SDC15052aFor all my cards today I used my favorite white cardstock bases from Michaels.  You can scroll down on my blog a bit and find all the info on card bases:)  Next I layered Stampin’ Up! Soft Sky, and the strip is some new DSP from Stampin’ Up! called Painted Blooms.  It’s in the new Spring catalog and I love it! 🙂  I used a Stampin’ Up! retired embossing folder on the Daffodil Delight oval, and Wild Wasabi for the sentiment with Chocolate Chip words.  Does anyone recognize the retired Stampin’ Up! Chocolate Bunny?  It’s embossed with clear so you can see a little glare on his ears, I cut him out by hand. Lastly I used the Bitty Banners Framelits for cutting my sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes, SU.  I think I’ll enter this one in the challenge over at SAS4Kids, you can check out more cards for kids here.

SDC15051aNow isn’t this little guy cute?!  This is a precolored digital image from Doodle Pantry.  I’m going to enter this one in the Doodle Pantry Challenge, ANTS IN MY PANTRY DIGITAL CHALLENGE  3.  They actually had a shorter challenge name and changed it. lol  It’s all good, I copied and pasted the title;)  This image is called Quirky Bunny, and can be found here.  The kit comes with the background paper as well, and a b&w image you can color yourself.  I used some pretty Easter egg ribbon, hmmm, where did I get that?  Sorry, I can’t remember:(  I did use Tempting Turquoise from Stampin’ Up! behind the bunny, and the same Bitty Banners Framelits to cut the sentiment, which also comes in the kit.

All my cards today will be going in the boxes for Send A Smile 4 Kids:)

Thanks for coming by today! 🙂  I still plan on showing more Easter cards, so come back and see:)

I’d like to remind everyone that in April, I will be having some blog candy!  All you have to do is comment on any of my blog posts in the month of April.  Any comment will be entered to win! 🙂  I’m not sure what I will have yet, but I’m pretty sure there will be three prizes and one prize will be a brand new stamp set from Stampin’ Up! called You Brighten My Day.  I’ll show it next month and make a card with it:)

This is my Stampin’ Up! blog where you can see the catalogs and more cards:)  See you soon! 🙂

SAS4Kids Easter/Spring with Guest

It’s Easter/Spring cards over at Send A Smile 4 Kids! 🙂  Maybe you’re thinking it’s too late to send in Easter cards:(  Not for my location! 🙂  I have until March 23rd to get my box in.  So if you’re done with your cards, or if you’re almost done, please send them in! 🙂  If you still want to send them in, go ahead, I’ll save them until next year:)

If you’re just starting your Easter cards and you’re looking for inspiration, I’ve got some! 🙂  Today my guest is Holly Blaskie from MI.  I’ve shown some of Holly’s cards before, she does a wonderful job with colors, papers and themes! 🙂  I love the way she can use the same supplies and make cards that look really different, yet similar:) Lets see how many I can fit in today:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAFour cards almost exactly the same.  See how just the different colors, can make the cards feel different?  Cardstock and Washi tape, I bet the kids will love them! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAHere are two different layouts with the same paper.  I think they have a completely different feel.  The eggs feel like a younger child, and the flowers feel like an older child, maybe a parent.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAI get the same feeling from these two cards.  I don’t know if that was Holly’s intention, but she sure did a great job! 🙂  These are wonderful cards with thought and effort put into every one!  I know the kids will love all of these cards, no matter which one they get! 🙂

Thanks to Holly for allowing me to share her beautiful cards with you all today! 🙂  Check out the SAS4Kids blog challenge page! 🙂  You can see more samples of cards for our kids:)  My location is the only Hospital right now accepting religious cards.  Always upbeat and cheerful, please no Angels waiting at the gates of Heaven.  Suggested sentiments:  Praying for you, Hugs & Prayers, You’re in my thoughts and prayers, all are good sentiments.  I will accept cheerful animal angels, such as cats, or bears.

Praying Birdie

This image is available at Doodle Pantry, very cute:)

This image is available at Fred She Said Designs.  Fred She Said is only taking email orders right now, but you can still get it.

These are both digital artwork and are downloadable to print out on your own printer.  Just suggestions on cheerful angels and prayers.

Thank you for coming by today!  I will be back by soon with some more Easter cards:)

Freshly Made Sketches #175

I finally made two cards myself, for Send A Smile 4 Kids! 🙂  Yep, it gets busy here with lots of kids running around! 😉  UPDATE:  This is a free image from Doodle Pantry:)  Check out the Freebie page, it’s the third row up from the bottom.  There’s lots more to see, I think these chicks are just so cute! I will also be entering this card into the Freshly Made Sketches #175.  Here’s their sketch for this week:

FMS Final 175-001

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis is the card for the challenge, I like to stay pretty close to the sketch most of the time.  Aren’t these little chick cute?  I actually named my photo wrong, it’s called Triple Chicks.  The background paper is also Doodle Pantry, from the set called, Easter Egg Ants.  I plan on using that image as well, in the near future;)  I made a second set of chicks and popped them up just with an extra sheet of cardstock. The entire sheet with the chicks has been popped up with dimentionals. The bling was just in my stash, the colored cardstock is a small piece of Wild Wasabi from Stampin’ Up! cut with a small die in a set from Impression Obsession (DIEO18-V).  This card has been approved by my granddaughters, 8 & 9 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERABoth my cards are A2 sized, but for this card, I made the chicks a little bigger.  Same background paper from Doodle Pantry.  If you click on this card and enlarge it, you can see the chicks all have little black dots.  There was one little black dot and my granddaughter (9) said they all had to have dots.  So here it is, also approved by both my granddaughters:)  The cardstock is a small piece of Calypso Coral by Stampin’ Up! also using the same small die cut.  The die that goes with it is much larger;)  The Happy Easter stamp is also Stampin’ Up!, Teeny Tiny Wishes.

I started out my blog giving lots of info regarding supplies and how I made my cards.  I stopped because I didn’t think anyone really cared.  But I’m starting again because when I go to Pinterest or someones blog to look at a card, I like to know the details.  Just looking, I can’t always tell what color was used, whose stamp was used, or where I might get the digital images or stamps used.  So I will try to add everything I can remember, if you have other questions, please feel free to ask:)

I had a virus on my computer about a month ago and lost a couple of my programs.  My favorite Print Shop that I used for almost everything, just disappeared! 😦  Apparently Windows 8.1 is not a friendly environment for a lot of older programs:(  So I’m working with a couple of new programs that I’m still trying to figure out.  My Watermark is not right:(  I’m struggling with making my cards the right brightness.  Very frustrating! 😦  But I’ll keep at it, and hopefully very soon I’ll get it right, please bear with me.

I do appreciate everyone who follows me or just drops in! 🙂  In April I will be having some blog candy for anyone who makes a comment in that month.  Keep an eye out for further details:)

Thanks for coming by today, see you soon! 🙂

SAS4Kids guest Diane H.

Some of you know that I’m collecting cards for Send A Smile For Kids.  For anyone who doesn’t know about SAS4K, it’s an organization that distributes handmade cards to Children’s Hospitals, in the USA and Canada.  I am collecting cards from people in the USA who make them and send them on to me.  I put labels on the back or add our stamp, add envelopes if needed and pack them by category. I then deliver them to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois.  A very worthy cause and if you are at all interested in sending in some cards, contact me by my email on the side bar, or leave a comment:)

Now on to a card! 🙂  Today I have a card sent in for the children.  I’ve contacted the sender and she has agreed I can show some of her cards:)  I’m only showing one card today because I’m going to show you the inside, outside and the envelope!  This is not a typical card, so if you would like to send some cards, please don’t feel they need to look like this one!  I just want to showcase some of her cards because they give me some great ideas to share and learn from.  And they are just plain awesome! 🙂

The guest for today is Diane H. from ON, Canada.  Even her envelopes are all handmade!  Diane includes a sticker to close the envelope:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis is the handmade envelope, the big square appears to be printed off her computer.   The Arrr! is a flat sticker, and the coins are a 3D sticker.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAIf you’ve ever wondered how to use stickers to make an incredible card, here you go!  The island, water, trees and bird look like one big, thin cardboard cutout.  I’m saying it’s a sticker, but I don’t know for sure, I don’t think you could make something this elaborate with a Circuit machine, but I actually don’t know.  The little pirate is a sparkly 3D sticker, as well as the pirate patch.  The circle with words appears to be a computer print out, cut with a die or punch.  Under all that is the striped paper/cardstock.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis is the inside, now I have to say most cards are totally blank inside, you do not have to do anything on the inside of any card you send.  I am just amazed at the work that has gone into these cards! 🙂  A cute find a word game, a nice little saying, great paper and look at those cute stickers!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis is the back of the card!  No, this isn’t required either, and as of yet, this is the only person who has sent cards in the manner.  But, wow, more cute sayings, stickers and some nice cardstock!  I had a hard time trying to find somewhere to put our SAS4K label!

I am very impressed by this card, and I know some child will be too!  But this is an example.  I am not promoting this card as better than any other card!  Children love to receive any card!!  That anyone would take the time to make and send in a handmade card, says so much about that person!  Please, if you are considering making and sending any cards, know that all types of handmade cards are accepted, as long as you’ve done your best, you’re cards are greatly appreciated!!!:)

I plan on sharing many cards from our cardmakers:)  Most of them are not at this skill level, but I consider them all to be wonderful cards!! 🙂 I am so thankful for every single person who makes and sends cards to SAS4Kids!!!! 🙂

I’ve decided to share one more card, I just received permission to use it.  This card is made by Holly B. from Sherwood, MI.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAOk, this is a very good example of what most of the cards received look like:)  The inside and the back are blank, but look how cute it is! 🙂  Perfect balance, beautiful colors, and a simple design.  I love the jelly bean paper! 🙂  The little bunny is a sticker, and I think the Happy Easter is computer generated. It has three little sparkly, circle stickers up in the top left, and has multiple layers.  This card is a perfect example of a card for the younger children, although it would be good for anyone up to teens.  I think it would be best for children who might pull off 3D layers, buttons, or ribblons and put them in their mouths. Everything is glued/taped down really well and safe for little hands!  The colors are bright and cheerful, a wonderful card!:)

Here’s an update from the cardmaker, Holly B.  The sentiment Hoppy Easter is actually a stamp from Paper Wishes/Hot Off The Press, as well as the 3 Jewel Dazzles in the left upper corner.  The bunny sticker & jelly bean paper are Doodlebug.

Both of these cards are great examples of how to make cards!!  They both have a place to fill for our children.  We also encourage children to send cards to their families.  This would be an awesome card for a child to pick and send to their parents or siblings! 🙂

I know you come to see cards and not hear me babble on, I am just so passionate about cards for children! 🙂  Please share my blog link or the link for Send A Smile 4 Kids.  The more cards we receive, the more hospitals and children we can share with! 🙂

Thanks for coming by today, I hope to see you again!:)
