Friday Mashup #212 and SAS4Kids

I made a card, YAY! 🙂  I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t really had a lot of time to just sit down and make any cards:(  I also have a guest today, I didn’t add it on the title because they’ve been getting kind of long lately;)

So first up is the card I made for the Friday Mashup #212.

This week’s Mashup Challenge is:

  • Create a project with an “Ombre’ Element (background, embellishment, etc.)”
  • Create a project with an “Embellishment Cluster.”
  • or Mash it Up! and Create a project with an “Ombre’ element & embellishment cluster.”

I didn’t use a big embellishment cluster, just a small cluster of crystals and one pearl.  I did however use some Ombre’ digital paper:)  I found it on Pinterest, but this is the link.  You just need to scroll down a little:)  My main image is also digital, it can be found at Doodle Pantry, one of my favorite places!:)  My sentiment is in a set from Stampin’ Up! called Warm Words (retired).

It looks deceptively simple;)  I actually had to print it about 6 times to get the sizing just right.  I printed the background with the main image onto Matte photo paper.  I then added a small pearl to the purple shell near the bottom and 3 crystal bubbles.

Lastly, I stamped the sentiment with Memento Black inkI used Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Delight for the backing cardstockHmmm, I guess it was pretty easy, except for the printing part;) lol

This card will be going into a box for Send A Smile 4 Kids🙂  They also have a blog challenge that is for two weeks at a time:)  A new one just started, you can find it here🙂

For my guest today, I have a new card sender, at least to me;)  Some of her cards are A2, and some are a note card size, they’re all cute! 🙂  The guest today is Vicki Luebke from Ft. Wayne, IN.

Aren’t these adorable?!  I don’t know where she got all her images, but I found a number of them at Dollar Graphics Depot🙂 I’ve used images from there before as well:)  Here are some closer looks:)

I think these are just too cute, but I have a couple more:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAI love all the images and the layouts are great for the younger children! 🙂  Vicki did an awesome job of using cute and happy images with basic layouts that any age would find fun! 🙂

Thanks for coming by today, I hope you enjoyed seeing all the cards! 🙂  I plan to come back soon, I have so much more to show you! 🙂

Fred She Said, Merry Monday #88, Friday Mashup #139 & Send A Smile 4 Kids

OMGoodness, I have a lot to share today!  I have three cards! 🙂  All of my images today are Fred She Said, they are having a contest with prizes!

Fred She Said is having a Christmas Party Giveaway! From Wednesday Dec. 18 until Monday Dec. 23 Midnight EST.

This first card was supposed to go to Freshly Made Sketches #116.  I was too late to enter:(  So….since it fits with the theme of the Friday Mashup #139, I’m going to enter it there! 🙂

Fm139Here’s your Mashup Challenge:
Create a “Winter themed project (Non Christmas).”
Create a project using “Embossing (Dry or Heat). ”
Or Mash it Up and create a “Winter Project using Embossing.”

Half-fold Card2The image is from the Fred She Said store called Emma & the Snowball.  Isn’t she just too cute! ? I used some new paper from Stampin’ Up! called Winter Frost.  I love it!  It has two sheets with Silver accents.  I used one of the silver here, it’s kind of hard to see how shiny and beautiful it is:(  But trust me, it’s gorgeous! 🙂

Now, my next two cards use the same image from Fred She Said, but I made them up two different ways;)  One of them will be entered into Merry Monday #88 this week.

MM New Look Sketches-021

Here’s the first one

Half-fold Card3And now the second one

Half-fold Card1I love this image from Fred She Said called, Catchin’ Flakes! 🙂  All of these cards will be going into the box for Send A Smile 4 Kids!

Thanks for coming by today! 🙂  I hope to be back at least one more time before Christmas, but just in case that doesn’t work out, I’m wishing you all a very  Merry Christmas!! 🙂

Merry Monday #79, Friday Mashup #132 & Operation Write Home

I’m having so much trouble fitting my card making in:(  I have two cards today that look pretty simple.  Actually they weren’t too hard, just time consuming.  To send to Operation Write Home, I have to make sure everything is glued down well, but no glue can be sticking out anywhere.  That way the cards don’t all get stuck together during shipment.  Here is my first card for Merry Monday #79, but first the challenge;)

MM New Look Sketches-012

Today we have a colour/theme challenge for you!!! We are looking for Blue, Silver/Gray and White with Snowflakes!!

Half-fold Card1I love the Memory Box die that I used for the bottom of the card!!  Boy, is it hard to glue down!!  I used Stampin’ Up! Tombow glue, and put little dots on the back everywhere!  For the really tiny spots, I put some glue on a piece of paper and used my craft knife to add just little, tiny bits of glue at the very tip of my craft knife.  I was walking through Michaels, and saw this ribbon that looked perfect for the challenge.  I glued it to my card using a tape runner.  The words are Peel-Offs.  Peel-Offs are very popular overseas, I “found” them about 5 years ago, on a card making site. Peel-offs are pre-glued like stickers.   You can find some here.  Here’s a photo of one page, you can see I’ve used most of the “Merry Christmas” and a few of the bells and trees.

Half-fold Card3

If you’re not good at heat embossing, you might want to try these.  They come in Silver, Gold, and a number of other colors like black, white, copper, or holigraphic. I used cardstock from Stampin’ Up!, Tempting Turquoise.  This card is going in the Operation Write Home box:)

My second card is for the challenge over at the Friday Mashup #132.

Here’s your Mashup Challenge:
Create a project with a “Tree or Leaves.”
Create a project using the “Color Orange.”
Or Mash it Up and create a “Project with Leaves/ Tree & the Color Orange.”

Here’s my card:

Half-fold Card2I struggled with this card, because I had sooooo many choices!  I finally settled on this digital image that I bought on Esty, from BaBaPuff.  I actually found it by accident so I don’t have a link for you:(  I printed it on my special brochure paper, matte.  Then I printed a second one the same size and cut out the small square.  I backed the square with Stampin’ Up! Tangerine Tango cardstock, also the bottom colored layer.  The little tag is Stampin’ Up! Itty Bitty Banners. This set has a matching die set called Framelits-Bitty Banners.

I’m getting pretty used to making everything close to the card.  Anything I send to Operation Write Home needs to not have “sticky out parts”.  They can catch to other cards and get pulled off.  My layers are glued as close to the card as I can get them.  Actually I tape them and glue them. It’s become a habit now;)

Operation Write Home is working on Winter cards now, Christmas has been sent or are about to be sent.  Here is a list of themes they will be needing, besides Winter, and Valentines Day:

Accepted themes:
Thank you
Missing you
Thinking of you
Blank (no sentiment)  All cards should be blank inside, with plenty of room for writing. Blank (no sentiment) means no sentiment on the front, just decorated.

Also, please don’t forget about the Children’s Hospitals.  Send A Smile 4 Kids has less restrictions, and is a very worthy cause.  I’m sending Halloween this week and than it’s on to Christmas! 🙂  Because the Hospitals are right here in the USA, cards can be sent closer to the Holiday:)

Do you know card makers with ties to the military, or just appreciates the sacrifice our service people are making, anyone who has a special place in their hearts for children?  Don’t have a lot of extra cards?  Don’t worry, any amount will do.  But think of card making parties, friends, relatives, anyone who crafts.  I know Christmas is very stressful for a lot of people, that’s why I make Christmas cards all year, at least one a week! 🙂  Take a look at my cards listed under the OWH, and SAS4K  categories, pop over to their websites and see what others are making.  Everything should be handmade, but it doesn’t have to be filled with embellishments.

As a matter of fact, if you want to send notes or letters to our troops, they can be store bought cards.  They do not need envelops. They can be sent anytime.  Our troops love hearing from people back home, you don’t even have to craft.  There are coloring pages on the OWH website, children can color or write letters.  Ask your school or church to help out! 🙂

Ok, sermon over.  I guess my Holiday Spirit has kicked in already! 😉  It breaks my heart to think of anyone alone and sad on a Holiday, or anytime really:(

I’m so glad you stopped by today! 🙂  Crafters are one of the best people to know, they are kind and giving, and usually patient;)  I hope to see you soon:)

Friday Mashup #130 & OWH Midweek throwdown

I have a lot of cards tonight, so not much explanation, but please feel free to ask if you have questions on supplies or anything else:)  My first card is for the Friday Mashup Challenge #130.

Here’s your Mashup Challenge:
Create a project with “Ripped paper.”
Create a project with a “a fussy cut image.” (Cut something out)
Or Mash it Up and create a project “with some Ripped paper & something Fussy Cut.”

Here’s my card:

Half-fold Card1I have to say it doesn’t look as nice in the photo than it does in hand.  I love how this card turned out!  I have used a similar flower and have also used this  layout before, but I think this one turned out the best of all of them!!:)  You need to click on the card to really see how beautiful the flower is and the awesome middle embellishment!  Okay, all of this is just my opinion, maybe you’ll like it too:)  The flower image is from Fred She Said called, Pointy Poinsettia Flowers.  I can already tell those of you who know me well are thinking this is a pre-colored image, not this time!  I took out my Aqua Painter from Stampin’ Up! and used Read Red and Always Artichoke to hand paint this flower!!  And yes, I followed the rules, it’s all hand cut!  I painted it and then cut it out. It’s so pretty and it stands up quite a way, this will definitely be going to one of my family members, because it will have to be boxed and maybe hand delivered!

Now I have three more cards, yes three!  These cards are for a challenge over at Operation Write Home called the Midweek Throwdown.  The challenge is to make multiple cards that are easy to make over and over.  Mine are kind of multiple, I did make three, but they aren’t exactly the same;)

Half-fold Card2A great image from Fred She Said, I’ve used this image a lot of times, it’s called Christmas Poinsettia Lanntern Set.  I’m assuming that’s the way you spell Lantern in Canada;)  Yes, it’s pre-colored;)

Half-fold Card3

Another awesome digital image from Fred She Said! 🙂  This one is called Catchin’ Flakes. I adore this image, it reminds me of my baby brother when he was small, quite a few years ago! 😉

Half-fold Car4

This last card is made with a pre-colored digital image from Doodle Pantry called, Cocoa Cup Ants.   You can shop by colored images, the are about 368, but there are plenty of un-colored digis and paper packs as well.  I love pre-colored digital images!  I have three of my grandchildren staying with me.  They’ve been here for a number of months and it’s practically impossible to make cards:(  Pre-colored digital images have helped me make a lot more cards, because the coloring is already done:)  And, of course, I don’t color that well anyway:(

I hope you’ve enjoyed viewing my cards today:)  Thanks for stopping by! 🙂  I hope to see you again soon:)

EDIT with second card*****Friday Mashup #123 & Operation Write Home #186

OMGoodness, I am so late posting for the Friday Mashup # 123!  I’m going to post my card now and come back tonight and add all the details:)

Ok, I’m back, all the little ones are in bed and I have a little while before I have to head to bed myself:)  This card is for the Friday Mashup #123.

Here’s your Mashup Challenge:
Create a project using “Clear Block Stamping (use your clear block as a stamp).”
Create a project using “Color-blocking.”
Or Mash it Up and create a project using “Clear Block Stamping & Color-blocking.”

Here’s the sketch I used, it’s from Operation Write Home #186:

owh sketch canvas copyHere’s one of the cards I made:

Half-fold Card1Here’s the second card I made:

Half-fold Card3Here’s the first card with a little sentiment added:

Half-fold Card1aI thought these would be nice for our female military to send home to their husbands or boyfriends.  Operation Write Home doesn’t require sentiments, but I felt they were missing something without at least a small sentiment.  Just my opinion;)

Now, what didn’t I use, you might ask?  I used mostly Stampin’ Up! products, except for my main image from Fred She Said, Fallen Maple Leaf.  Of course, the leaf is the same on both cards, but the Stampin’ Up! colors are totally different.  For my first card, I used my SU acrylic blocks with Wild Wasabi, Cajun Craze and More Mustard.  For the second card, I used the new DSP Sweater Weather, which can be found in the new Holiday catalog.  I also used Stampin’ Up! cardstock, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango, and Basic Gray. I did use, for the Tangerine Tango,  an embossing folder that was a gift from a friend, not SU:)

Thanks for coming by today….. twice;)  I really appreciate every one of you! 🙂  I’ll be back again soon:)

Friday Mashup #122 & Operation Write Home #185

Oh, dear, another late night for me:(  My husband hates when I stay up late because then I don’t want to get up in the morning;)  Oh well, I’m going to try and finish this quickly:)

For you today, I have two cards!  The first card is for the Friday Mashup Challenge #122.

Here’s your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project with a “Tag (as an embellishment on you rproject or as the project itself ).”
  2. Create a project using the colors “Crisp Cantaloupe, Soft Sky, Primrose Petals & Bermuda Bay”.
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project “with a Tag using the color combo above”.

Wow, lots of colors!  I squeezed them all in, lets see how you like it:)

Half-fold Card1I don’t know where this card is going yet, but it’s very colorful:)  Both of my card are all Stampin’ Up! products today.  If you have any questions regarding supplies, feel free to ask:)  Oh, and I did “mash it up”  I have one tiny little tag in Primrose Petals;)

My next card if for Operation Write Home, because our military men and women deserve cards! 🙂  This card is for someone to send home to a loved one.  Here is their sketch for this week:

owh sketch canvas copyOnce again, all products used on this card are from Stampin’ Up!  Oooops, wait a minute, there is one other product on this card.  If you click on my card, you can see I used an embossing folder from Darice.  It was gifted to me by a friend:)

Half-fold Card2Yes, this is a short post today.  I’m so tired I can hardly think:(  Good thing I can go back and fix my spelling;) lol

Thank for coming by today!  Remember to make a comment to be entered into my personal give away, a Petals-a-Plenty Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up!  It’s going on all the month of August! I will do a random draw from everyone who makes a comment this month:)

Also check out the Friday Mashup blog and the Operation Write Home Blog.  Check out the great cards and plan to join in yourself! 🙂

Friday mashup #120 & Merry Monday-July

This is a post edit, in case you’ve already seen it.  I missed the deadline for Merry Monday….again:(  But here’s the happy news, I won a top pick from Merry Monday for the second card on this post! 🙂  That’s the one with the little Elf:)

Winner Badge for Merry MondayAnd that’s only the first thing I want to tell you.  If you scroll down and look at the Elf card, you will see the embossing folder I used.  It’s Petals-a-Plenty by Stampin’ Up!  I love this embossing folder and if you do too, you can have a chance to win one!!  All comments this month (August)  will be going into a drawing , and one lucky winner will receive a brand new Petals-a-Plenty Embossing Folder for FREE! 🙂

This is sponsored by me, Janet Kay:)  I’m happy to be a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and would be happy to have you as a customer, as long as you live in the USA.  I’m a “no pressure” salesperson, so you won’t be seeing me trying to get you to buy anything. I pretty much sell to get enough money for supplies for the two charities I support, Send A Smile 4 Kids and my newest endeavor, Operation Write Home:)

These are two very worthy causes if you have the time, please consider at least one:) I have links for both on my sidebar, take a look and give it some thought:)

I hope to be back very soon so that you have as many chances to comment as pobbible:)  Thank you for taking the time to read my post and visit my blog! 🙂

Lots to show you today! 🙂  I’ve made two more cards with the sketch from Freshly Made #96.

Here’s your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project for “Christmas / Hanukkah”.
  2. Create a project with “Stripes”.
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a “Christmas / Hanukkah project with Stripes”.

Here’s the card I made for the Friday Mashup #120:

Half-fold Card2This card features a pre-colored digital stamp by Fred She Said called, Little Fat Santa.  It also features some handmade, striped paper made by me! 🙂

I’m pretty sure there’s an easy way to make striped paper, and if you know how, please let me know, but this is what I did;)

christmas stripes sample 1I went to my favorite Print Shop program and selected “add a line”.  It allows you to make different sizes and colors.  Sounds easy?  Do you see how many stripes there are?!  It took me all day, in between dealing with my grandchildren!  I made a bunch of stripes in red, green and black.  I stored them on the side of the page.  Then I layered them one by one.  I finished two or three times and didn’t like it and changed it up.  I was up until 4am!  Here is how it looked when I was almost done, I put in a “shape” of white and covered the ends to make it all one size.  Then I added my images to the “white” side so I could print everything on one page.

christmas stripes sample2Here is a close-up of the tag I made:

Half-fold Card3I stamped on some thin, long paper, then I folded it in half and attached it with a silver, sparkle brad.  I left a little loop in the paper to make it stand out.  I also made a silver, sparkle snowflake with a retired Stampin’ Up! punch.  The red snowflake background paper is also Fred She Said, Christmas Papers 1-2009. The white cardstock was embossed with an old Embossing Folder by Cuttlebug.   The Santa and the tag are both popped- up with SU Stampin’ Dimentionals.

Now for my second card, I will be entering it over at Merry Monday-July. There was no sketch this month, the entire month has been “anything goes”!

July ChallengeHalf-fold Card1Same basic sketch, I just changed it up a little;)  I used my handmade paper, some leftover red snowflake, and regular cardstock embossed with a Stampin’ Up! folder called Petals-a-Plenty.  I believe this is my favorite embossing folder!:) At least for Christmas;)  The pre-colored digital image is from Fred She Said, Naughty or Nice Elf. The sentiment is also included with a few others:)  I used a silver glitter snowflake and a sparkly green brad.  Here I popped-up only the striped section.

Wow, that sure seems like a lot!  I hope you were able to make it all the way through;)

Thanks for coming by today!  I’m always happy to have visitors! 🙂  I don’t know what will be next, but I hope to be back soon!

JanetKay_RetroNoelP.S.  I’m not proofreading this so if you find errors, please let me know:)

Friday Mashup #119 with cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids

OMGoodness, three hours of quiet tonight!!:)  Kids all went to bed early and I started making cards! 🙂  I made two today and they will both be going into the box for Send A Smile 4 Kids! 🙂  I’ve already entered their challenge, they run for two weeks, so you have plenty of time to enter for a chance to win some nice digital prizes:)  This time the theme is Christmas in July.

So today’s cards are not Christmas, but I think they’re pretty cute.  If you check out the Send A Smile 4 Kids challenge, I was the first to enter! 🙂  I will be entering these two cards in the challenge over at the Friday Mashup #119.

Here’s your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the “Sketch”.
  2. Create a project with a “Favorite New Stamp Set”.
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project “using the Sketch with your Favorite NEW Stamp Set”.

Here is their sketch for this week:

fm119Here are my cards, I used the sketch and my favorite NEW digital stamps:

Half-fold Card4Half-fold Card5If you click on them to make them larger, you can see the Yellow Brick Road;)  Now hold on to your hats, I have lots of info to share!

First off, the “glitter” paper is actually digital “glitter” paper from Sassy Designs.  I’ve never tried digital glitter paper before, because I thought it would look too fake.  Of course it’s not like real glitter paper, but it looks kinda cool, AND it suited my purpose for these two cards;)  I cut the arrows out of the paper, I wouldn’t be able to do that if it was thick glitter paper.  Here is what the first step looks like:

Half-fold Card1Onto my second step:

Half-fold Card2The first step is the front after cutting.  Here is a photo of the back and the template I used to make my arrows.  The template is from POP-UPs Etc.  On the lower left there is a link for FOLD-em templates, I used #2 here.  And here is what I did:

Half-fold Card3I used my template and cut my arrows with my special knife I bought with the original template Lace’  (Lay-say).  These are no longer sold, so I am directing you to the site where I know similar template are sold:)  I cut them out on the red side and then turned my paper over and folded part of the arrows in. Then I cut them off for the effect I wanted.  You would usually fold them out to the front and fold them under the little flaps.  Because I’m using digital paper, it’s pretty thin.  I just taped the brick road under it to show through.

The glitter paper came from Sassy Designs, Inc. Here is some info on them, they are having a great sale with digital paper SETS for only 25 cents!!!  Yes, really!  I don’t remember how I even found them, but check it out! 🙂

“The 12 Days of Christmas in July Sale is ENDING THIS FRIDAY! The sale is
scheduled to end promptly at 11:59pm EDT on Friday, July 26, 2013. (PLEASE
NOTE THE TIME ZONE difference: Sale end time of 11:59pm EDT is 8:59pm PDT,
9:59pm MDT, and 10:59pm CDT.) “

Okay, now that brings me to my images.  These images are  from Doodle Pantry in a set called OZ.   I got the entire set and will be making more cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids.  The set comes with images, papers, and sentiments! 🙂  I, of course, used pre-colored digital images, but they have lots of un-colored images.  There are links on the left side of the page:)

OMGoodness, it’s after 2:30am here!  I have to go to bed, the little ones have no sympathy for my staying up too late! LOL

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! 🙂

Thanks for coming by today!  I hope I haven’t overloaded you with info:)  See you soon:)

Friday Mashup #118 & Top Tip Tuesday #105

Oh bummer!!   While I was preparing my card to post to the Friday Mashup #118, I ran out of time and the link closed:(  But, you still get to see it because I’m going to point the way to a different challenge over at Top Tip Tuesday #105🙂

Here’s your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the colors “Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral & (Smoky Slate or Soft Suede) “.
  2. Create a project with a “Nature Theme”.
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a “Nature Themed project using the Challenge Colors”.

I think I did pretty good with this one; lots of nature (Stampin’ Up! Nature Walk (retired) All Stampin’ Up! supplies.  I used Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral, and Soft Suede.  However, I did add some Wild Wasabi on the leaves;)

Friday Mashup #114 & Send A Smile 4 Kids

It’s been crazy around here, as always!  I’m staying up late to post this card I just made:)  I’m going to enter it into two different challenges.  Send A Smile 4 Kids, and the Friday Mashup #114.     Send A Smile 4 Kids challenge, is to make a card for a girl, teen girl if possible.  The SAS4K challenge is open until July 5th so you have time to pop over there and join in:)

The Friday Mashup #114 challenge will end tomorrow:(  But there is still a little time if you hurry, it’s open until 6pm, or you can still head over there and look at all the great cards and then Friday join in for a new challenge:)

Here’s your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the “Sketch”.
  2. Create a project using the “Brick Wall Technique”.
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project using the “Sketch with the Brick Wall Technique”.

FM114I toyed with the idea of the Brick Wall Technique, but decided I just didn’t have the time or the patience to try a new technique right now:(  Maybe some other time:)  I did use the sketch and turned it on it’s side:

Half-fold Card1I did use a “mashup” of products today.  This Hotrod Pickup is a pre-colored image from Doddle Pantry.  I made this especially for a teenage girl.  What girl wouldn’t want a pink pickup truck?  Ok, maybe me, I would prefer blue;)  As it happens, in the kit are a lime green and a pale blue pickup and some matching papers:)  I used the matching pink paper here, as well as some Stampin’ Up! DSP, Night and Day.  I also used Stampin’ Up! Basic Black. I used a Martha Stewart punch, and I printed the sentiment using my Print Shop23.

Wow, it’s after 1am, I better head to bed!  Toddler Lawrence, he really isn’t a baby anymore, will be up bright and early;)  We like to go for walks when it’s cool in the morning and late afternoon.

Thanks for coming by today!  I really do appreciate all your comments, suggestions, or questions:)  See you soon! 🙂
