Freshly Made Sketches #228 & SAS4Kids

I know I say this all the time, but……I am so far behind!Β  I missed a whole week, I’m so sorry! 😦  I’m going to make up for it by showing you lots of cards! πŸ™‚Β  First, I have a card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge #228 πŸ™‚

FMS Final 228-001

aSDC19687

This card is mostly digital, with my main image coming from Raspberry Road Designs πŸ™‚Β  I can’t remember exactly which set it was from, but if you’d like to know just ask:)Β  The blue paper was also in the set, I printed it with the main image on Epson Presentation Paper-MatteΒ  I really like this paper because it’s nice and thick so you can print and cut things and still pop them up if you would like to.Β  The sentiment came from a stamp set that was gifted to me.Β  I think it was Markie’sΒ  Finest Paper, but I won’t swear to that;)Β  I mounted the whole thing onto a white base, because that’s what I usually do:)Β  Quite Simply Made, but I think a kid in the hospital is going to love it when added to a box of Send A Smile 4 Kids cards! πŸ™‚

Now for more SAS4Kids cards, I have a number of guests:)Β  We’ll see how many we can fit in;)Β  First up is Lisa Simokaitis of IL, Lisa is a first time sender to me:)

Lisa sent these really beautiful Easter cards and a number of others:)Β  Thank you Lisa for thinking of our kids, these are beautiful cards for our kids and/or their parents! πŸ™‚Β  I hope to see more of your cards in the future! πŸ™‚

Judy Martin is from PA, and has sent cards a few times:)

Judy has done a lot of water coloring on her cards, lovely! πŸ™‚

Aren’t these adorable! ?Β  I’m not sure about the chicks, but the other 3 cards are Lawn Fawn! πŸ™‚Β  I love how she used the pink polka dot cut-out on the green card! πŸ™‚Β  Thank you Judy for being on my team! πŸ™‚

Donna Wakefield has sent cards in many times:)Β  Her cards are usually one of a kind, and they’re always great! πŸ™‚Β  Donna has her own blog that you can go visit:)Β  http://designbydonna.blogspot.com/

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Don’t you just love these!?Β  Be sure to check out Donna’s blog to see how she makes her cards!Β  Thank you Donna for always keeping our kids in mind! πŸ™‚

Next is Andrea La Vigne from TX:)Β  Andrea has sent cards in more than a few times, and she also has a blog you can visit! πŸ™‚Β  http://andreaspaperantics.blogspot.com/

Andrea doesn’t send a lot of cards at a time, but what she sends are great cards! πŸ™‚Β Β  Andrea also does a lot of water coloring:)Β  Thank you Andrea for always sending cards for the kids, I know they love your cards! πŸ™‚

Karin Hendrickson is from MO, she also doesn’t send a lot of cards at one time, but she sends pretty often:)

Karin makes these really beautiful cards, I think they’re screen fold cards, but I’m not sure.Β  Beside Easter she sent a number for Mother’s Day, which hopefully I’ll remember to show you at a later time;)Β  I love all the cute images and the flower is just beautiful in hand! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Here’s a closer look, isn’t this wonderful! ?Β  She’s sent these in before for other holidays, these must be so much fun for the kids to sit next to their beds! πŸ™‚Β  Thank you Karin for making such thoughtful, and fun cards for our kids! πŸ™‚

I told you, tons of cards today! πŸ™‚Β  Two more guests!Β  First is Jan Kloss of TX:)Β  Jan is a friend of my friend Jill Blasche:)Β  They like to get together and craft, so you’ll see some of the same papers used by each, but their cards are not the same:)

Jan’s cards are so cute, I actually used some for Easter and some for Spring, she sent multiples of each of these! πŸ™‚Β  Thank you Jan, I love seeing your cards in Jill’s boxes! πŸ™‚

Jill Blasche is a good friend of mine from TX:)Β  I love getting her cards, she always sends multiples so each of my three hospitals are sure to get some! πŸ™‚

On the left are two of Jill’s examples of how she makes for my “regular” hospitals and for my “no embellishment” hospital.Β  She is so clever, they are pretty much the same, but the “regular” hospitals get ribbon and gems, the “no embellishment hospital doesn’t.Β  Not so hard, if I didn’t tell you, you probably wouldn’t see the difference;)Β  On the right, you can see some of the paper Jan used, but the cards don’t look the same:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I love these two cards! πŸ™‚Β  The one on the left is great for my “no embellishment” hospital and the one on the right is great for my other hospitals! πŸ™‚Β  Same sentiment, but totally different cards! πŸ™‚Β  Thank you Jill for always being open to a challenge and thinking of all my kids! πŸ™‚

I hope I didn’t wear you all out today with all the wonderful examples of cards to make for kids, or anyone! πŸ™‚Β  I can’t express how much my card makers mean to me and the kids I serve! πŸ™‚

I want to thank everyone for coming by today! πŸ™‚Β  I hope I can come back sooner to share some more great cards with you all! πŸ™‚

Be sure to visit the SAS4Kids challenge blog to see more cards or to join in! πŸ™‚Β  Tomorrow will start a new challenge, “For the Boys”.

I was sick, and down for a while, but now I’m better and playing catch-up! πŸ™‚Β  I have lots to show you tonight, so lets get started! πŸ™‚Β  First I have a card that I made and I will submit it to two different challenges.Β  Merry Monday #184 and Freshly Made #217.

Merry Monday’s theme is baking:

184Freshly Made Sketches, has a sketch;)

FMS Final 217-001My card stayed pretty much to the sketch, which is what I normally do;)

aSDC18622

UPDATE:Β  My card has the honor of wining the Merry Monday #184 challenge! πŸ™‚

Winner Badge

For this card I used a digital image from Raspberry Road Designs, from the Christmas Cookies collection.Β  I also used one of the papers from the paper pack that goes with this collection.Β  I used Stampin’ Up! Real Red, and either Wild Wasabi or Pear Pizzazz for the words.Β  I cut the words with a die from Elizabeth Craft Designs, and the middle rectangle, I cut with Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangles.Β  I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop-up my sentiment:)

I’m pretty pleased that I was able to pull a card of any kind together in the last couple days, so I hope you like it:)

I have 5 guests today!Β  I will be showing only a few cards from each guest, and then I’m done showing Christmas cards for this year!Β  So hold on tight, here we go! πŸ™‚

My first guest is Lee Mae Elkins:)Β  This is the second time Lee Mae has sent cards to me, personally, for my hospitals:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERALee Mae sent a nice selection of cards:)Β  I have to admit, it was really hard to pick just a few from each guest.Β  I picked these because I thought they were all so much fun! πŸ™‚Β  Kids love animals of just about any kind and dress them up for Christmas and it’s all the better! πŸ™‚Β  Thank you Lee Mae for sending such wonderful cards for our kids! πŸ™‚

Next is Kayla Ford from IL, not too far from where I live:)Β  Kayla is a repeat sender:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAAll of Kayla’s cards are bright and cheerful, with lots of colors and patterns! πŸ™‚Β  Kayla’s cards remind me of quilts:)Β  Thank you so much Kayla for thinking of our kids again to cheer them for Christmas! πŸ™‚

My next guest has sent in a number of times before, Andrea La Vigne from TX:)Β  Andrea has her own blog that you can check out to see how she makes her cards:)Β  Pop over to see her blog Andrea’s Antics, hereπŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAAren’t these all cute! ?Β  Andrea does wonderful coloring and water coloring! πŸ™‚ I know the Reindeer is from one of our sponsors at SAS4Kids, but I’m sorry, I don’t know which one:(Β  Maybe someone could fill us in on that?Β  I love how Andrea positioned him on her card! πŸ™‚Β  Great cards Andrea, thank you for being a repeat sender, I know the kids love your cards! πŸ™‚

Holly Blaskie from MI, is my next guest:)Β  Holly is also a repeat sender:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAHolly used some really cute cats this time, and some really pretty silver accents:)Β  The tall card next to the kitty has the silver, but it looks kind of black:(Β  Holly sent in 75 cards this time, it was hard to pick just 4!Β  Thank you Holly for your continued support of our kids, they will really love these cards! πŸ™‚

My last Christmas cards for this year were sent in by Geri Dean and her sister Melanie Carruth of MN:)Β  Geri and her sister sent in an amazing 151 cards! πŸ™‚Β  I know everyone can’t send in that many, and I assure you, every card counts toward a box for a hospital!Β  Don’t ever feel rushed or that you have to do as many as someone else!Β  I don’t care if you send 5 cards, you are making a difference in a child’s life! πŸ™‚Β  Every card made and sent, is a happy smile in an envelope to a child! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERANow aren’t these fun! πŸ™‚Β  The first cards are made with Lawn Fawn, I have those little birds! πŸ™‚Β  I’ve made some of these little penguins, and Geri has these wonderful horse stamps that she uses a lot:)Β  Here she’s added Christmas paper and a sentiment to really dress it up!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAOk, there were a lot of cards, I really had a hard time narrowing it down!Β  I love the soft, cute animals in the first set, and the last card is genius! πŸ™‚Β  The tree card had the background paper and sentiment added, and then included is a set of stickers that a child can decorate themselves!Β  I’ve never seen this, what a great idea! πŸ™‚Β  They can put on the tree and the little ornaments any way they want to, what fun! πŸ™‚Β  I took off the paper clips and put the cards and stickers into a clear envelope along with a regular envelope.Β  Geri and Melanie always send in great cards, thank you ladies for working so hard to made Christmas a wonderful time of the year! πŸ™‚

I want to thank every single card maker who spent time making cards to bring a smile to the faces of our kids here at Send A Smile 4 Kids! πŸ™‚Β  Without all of you, we would not be able to do what we, the volunteers, do! πŸ™‚Β  The world is a crazy place, I believe we, cardmakers and volunteers,Β  are doing an important job, that affects lots of kids all over the USA!Β  I am so proud to share your talents and pieces of art with our kids!:)

I thank you all for your help making Christmas brighter for so many! πŸ™‚

I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! πŸ™‚Β  I hope to continue working with you through the next year! πŸ™‚

Merry Monday #181 & Send A Smile 4 Kids

It’s been a busy week for me here!Β  The kids are off school for 5 days!Β  I’ve been busy filling my boxes to ship to my three hospitals!Β  It will be Christmas before you know it!Β  If only January and February would fly by so fast!;)Β  I haven’t had much time for making cards, but I looked at the Merry Monday #181 challenge and I had a card sitting on my desk that I hadn’t blogged yet, and it’s blue! πŸ™‚

181So here it is and I will be entering it over at Merry Monday #181πŸ™‚

aSDC18214A friend of mine sent me the tree branches and the blue trees (triangles).Β  I love the colors! πŸ™‚Β  I used some Stampin’ Up! Marina Mist cardstock and ink.Β  The embossing folder is also Stampin’ Up! (retired).Β  I used some sequins from Stampin’ Up! that I got last Christmas, and a misc. stamp I had in my stash.Β  I love this card and I know just who I’m going to send it to, but it won’t be SAS4Kids, I have a personal use for this card;)

Now, I have some guest cards to share with you:)Β  These cards were all sent in to me to share with my hospitals for Send A Smile 4 KidsπŸ™‚Β  My first guest is a new sender for me, Lee Mae Elkins from the state ofΒ  WA πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Look at these fun cards, I love the images, papers and layouts, simple but very effective! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

More fun cards, and look at the beaver card!Β  It’s a great example of a Winter themed card, that’s not Christmas:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAIt looks like Lee Mae has used Glossy Accents or something like it on quite a few of her cards.Β  A lot of her images are shiny and raised a little, very nice touch! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

These dinos are so cute for Christmas!Β  I love the fox with it’s mug of, I’m sure, hot chocolate! πŸ™‚Β  Thank you Lee Mae for sharing all of these wonderful cards with our kids at SAS4Kids! πŸ™‚

My next guest has sent me many cards for my hospitals, Janelle Klapperich from SD:)Β  I had made a special request and Janelle came through for me! πŸ™‚Β  I had asked for cards with no embellishments and these cards are perfect! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAJanelle had put buttons on some of her cards and I asked if she would add paper buttons instead.Β  You can see some here on the snowman’s scarf:)Β  The second set is perfect as well, great for “not so young” kids and also flat! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAJanelle had made some of these for me previously, using real buttons, and she replaced them with small black paper buttons:)Β  This is a Stampin’ Up! paper from last year.Β  When it came out, I wasn’t that fond of it, but Janelle has shown me a number of ways to make this paper really shine:)Β  I love both these cards, great for teens with lots of texture, but still flat! πŸ™‚

Thank you Janelle for helping me out with my special request! πŸ™‚Β  I have other senders who will also do special requests, I have wonderful cardmakers! πŸ™‚

Thanks for coming by today! πŸ™‚Β  I hope if you’re still making Christmas cards, you’ve gotten some ideas! πŸ™‚Β  I hope you come by again soon for more inspiration! πŸ™‚Β  Please go by and check out the SAS4Kids challenge blog, this week is Anything goes for Kids:)

Freshly Made Sketches #210 Simply Made

I have a really simple card today, although it take me longer than I thought it would;)Β  I tend to start with one idea and then change it a couple times before deciding on my final layout:)Β  Today, there is a really good reason for a simple card, you can read about it here at Send A Smile 4 Kids.Β  I’ve had a request from one of my hospitals for cards with NO embellishments!Β  I know, seriously!Β  I always try my best to fulfill requests, so I thought the Freshly Made Sketch #210 was a really good place to start! πŸ™‚ Here’s their sketch:

FMS Final 210-001Looks pretty simple, right?Β  Well, my card is pretty simple too:)

aSDC18093This may not be the most simple card I’ve ever made, but it must be pretty close!Β  There are no embellishments on this card!Β  The sentiment and the branch are both rubber stamped.Β  The birds are rubber stamped and then colored with my Stampin’ Up! Blendabilities (discontinued).Β  The stamp set is from Lawn Fawn, Winter Sparrows, as well as the dies.Β  Please stare at my wonderful coloring, since you know I hardly ever color! lol

I’ve chosen a guest who has done a wonderful job showing off her cards with no embellishments!Β  This is only the second box of cards I’ve received from Ruby Haugen of MN.Β  Ruby has done a really good job and I welcome her to my blog:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAAll of Ruby’s cards have really cute, kid friendly, images! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAI believe Ruby used mostly colored pencils to color her images:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERARuby has used some wonderful papers and colors! πŸ™‚Β  She’s also layered her papers and images so they are almost flat! All of her embellishments are paper!Β  There is nothing on these cards that can be pulled off that isn’t safe for children who may put things in their mouths! πŸ™‚

Thank you Ruby for your wonderful cards, I know the kids will love these cards with fun colors and great images! πŸ™‚

Over on the SAS4Kids challenge blog there’s still one week left to enter cards for the Celebration Cards 4 Kids card challenge!Β  On November 7th we will be starting Happy Holidays 4 Kids!Β  Enter our challenge or just check out what others have made! πŸ™‚

Thanks for coming by today! πŸ™‚Β  I appreciate your support! πŸ™‚Β  Come again soon for more cards! πŸ™‚

The Paper Players #265 & Halloween guests for SAS4Kids

Okay, we’re winding down on the Halloween cards, but not tonight!Β  Tonight, I have three guests with cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids! πŸ™‚Β  First, my card for the challenge over at the Paper Players #265πŸ™‚Β  It’s a Halloween challenge! πŸ™‚

pp265pumpkinThere were no guidelines, except to make a Halloween card.Β  I chose to make a Stampin’ Up! circle thinlits card.Β  I’ve been thinking about making this type of card for a few weeks.Β  Then some came in for SAS4Kids, and I knew I had to put one together! πŸ™‚Β  I even used one of the same papers:)

The card base is Stampin’ Up! Tangerine Tango, and I used Motley Monsters DSP from last year for the right side.Β  The cute puppy and the moon are from Lawn Fawn, they come with matching dies.Β  The candy corn on the left I bought at Michaels at least a year ago, it’s all sparkly:)Β  My granddaughter approved this card, as a matter of fact, she wants to keep it! πŸ™‚Β  I guess I’ll have to make at least one more! πŸ˜‰

Now on to our guests!Β  My first guest is a repeat sender, Nancy Simmons, from FL:)Β  Nancy makes great cards and usually uses a lot of ribbon.Β  Today she has used Bakers Twine.Β  I’m only showing some of her cards.Β  She made a few designs but changed up the papers and sent multiples! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis is how I display them in my log book.Β  I keep track of everything! πŸ™‚Β  There are even more than this, but here are some close-ups:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Nancy is another one of my cardmakers who is a wiz at changing papers around to make cards look different!Β  I’m not good at this, it takes me forever just to pick out one paper! lol

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAAren’t these great?!Β  I know Nancy uses Stampin’ Up! products a lot of the time! πŸ™‚Β  I love all these cards, they’re fun and definitely not-too-scary! Thank you Nancy for the great cards! πŸ™‚

Next I have Tammy Gullett from IA:)Β  Tammy is also a repeat sender!Β  I love all my cardmakers, I have a great group! πŸ™‚ Tammy also sent some great cards! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAWhat fun cards, I know the kids won’t be afraid of these! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis a great Frankie card!Β  I’m sorry my photo is a little blurry, but I couldn’t take a new photo:(Β  All these cards have been packed in boxes and are ready to be mailed out this week:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAHere is Tammy’s card that gave me the idea to use the Stampin’ Up! DSP.Β  Tammy used a similar technique, but I can’t tell if she used the die I used.Β  These are all wonderful cards to share with our kids, Thank you Tammy for sending them in! πŸ™‚

My last guest today is Andrea La Vigne from TX:)Β  Andrea has her own blog πŸ™‚Β  Please visit Andrea’s Paper Antics for more details on her cards:)Β  I’ve linked the page for this card, because it’s awesome, but she has plenty of other cards that are great as well! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis is an awesome shaped card with sequins inside! πŸ™‚Β  The kids are going to be jealous of whoever gets this one! lolΒ  Andrea tells how she made it on her blog, so be sure to check it out! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAI love the papers Andrea uses, and her layouts are great too! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAI love these 4 cards!Β  They are such gentle Halloween cards!Β  I know any age would appreciate these cards! πŸ™‚

Thank you Andrea for sharing your talents with us and the kids! πŸ™‚Β  Andrea is also a repeat sender:)

I don’t think I can thank my cardmakers enough for all they do for the kids at Send A Smile 4 Kids! πŸ™‚Β  Check out the SAS4Kids challenge blog to see what other cardmakers are sending in for our hospitals! πŸ™‚

Thanks for coming by today! πŸ™‚Β  I appreciate everyone who visits my blog too! πŸ™‚ I hope you can come back again soon! πŸ™‚

The Paper Players & SAS4Kids guest

It’s a beautiful Fall day here today, perfect for the card I’ve made! πŸ™‚Β  I’m going to enter a new card challenge for me over at the Paper Players PP263.Β  I think I’ve entered there before, but it must have been a long time ago.Β  The challenge there is to create a Fall scene.

pp263My card almost looks like sketch card of this scene, I didn’t realize it until I just set my card by my computer just now:)Β  So here it is:

SDC17743I found this awesome paper that had leaves all over it and it made me think of leaves falling on the ground.Β  I found several different examples on Pinterest and finally decided on this layout.Β  I used Lawn Fawn Sweater Weather for the tree and leaves.Β  For the pumpkins, I used So Thankful. I made the hills with Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders.Β  The yellow paper and the leaf paper were just misc. papers from my stash, and I used Stampin’ Up! Soft Sky for the background.

I decided not to put a sentiment on, because I will be sending it to Send A Smile 4 Kids and with no sentiment, it can be used for any occasion:)Β  Be sure to go check out the challenge blog over at SAS4Kids for more card ideas! πŸ™‚

Now I’d like to share some cards from one of my repeat card senders, Jill Blasche from TX.Β  Jill has been sending me cards since I started volunteering for SAS4Kids.Β  She sent one of my very first boxes! πŸ™‚Β  Jill does a wide variety of cards, but will also send multiples:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERALook at these great Fall colors, and they’re all so different! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAMore great Fall colors! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERALook at these icky spiders!Β  Just changing the colors makes them look so different! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAWhy do kids love spiders for Halloween?!!!Β  Yuk! lolΒ  Jill really knows her spider cards! lol

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERALook at all these cards with the same black and orange striped paper.Β  They all look so different!Β  I could send all these cards to the same hospital unit, yet everyone would have a different card! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThe pumpkin paper here is the same as the card above, but doesn’t look anywhere near the same!Β  Also, look at the black card on the far right, it has the orange and black stripe!Β  Jill does an incredible job mixing her papers! πŸ™‚

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERALast cards, but this is two boxes of cards!Β  Jill sent me a box that was lost in the mail! 😦  Every cardmakers worst nightmare! 😦  She sent me a replacement box of cards, and then, of course, the first box was found! πŸ™‚Β  So I got two awesome boxes of cards! πŸ™‚Β  I believe I’m set for older kids for Halloween, now I can use some little kid cards for Halloween! πŸ™‚Β  Thank you Jill, for all your wonderful cards, I know the kids will love them! πŸ™‚

Thanks for coming by today! πŸ™‚Β  I hope everyone is enjoying the Fall and Halloween cards! πŸ™‚Β  Hope to see you again soon! πŸ™‚
