Tis’ The Season…#52, Christmas that is

This week I mailed out to my hospitals, all my Halloween boxes of cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids! 🙂  I will still be accepting Thanksgiving and Fall cards, but it’s time to get in the mood for Christmas cards! 🙂  It may seem early, but we need cards not just for the kids, but for the kids to give to their parents, siblings, favorite staff members! 🙂  That’s a lot of Christmas cards! 😉  Of course, there are the every day cards that can be made with Winter themes and colors! 🙂  I love Christmas, I hope you do too! 🙂

And, I made a Christmas card! 🙂  I’m going to enter it over at Tis’ The Season….#52.  I’ve never entered a challenge at TTS, so this should be fun! 🙂  Their challenge is Christmas all year, this week they have a sketch.

ts52fFor those of you who know me, you will be surprised that I didn’t follow the sketch exactly, but I’m not far off;)

SDC17912You may also be surprised that I made a square card.  I almost never make square cards, but this design just worked out better that way:)  No, I didn’t make the bokeh by hand:(  I bought it on Esty, I’m not sure where, sorry:(  But I love it!  The vine is from Memory Box, as well as the ornament and the ornament background shape.  You may not be able to see it well, but the ornament was cut from Stampin’ Up! Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, it’s beautiful! 🙂

The ornament background was cut from Stampin’ Up! Red Foil Sheets, they’re in the new holiday catalog.  I also cut the berries from the Red Foil using my Owl Builder Punch.  The Owl Builder punch has so many uses, it’s amazing!  The Holly is also a Memory Box die, and I used Stampin’ Up! Garden Green. The silver ribbon is also Stampin’ Up!

I’m very thrilled the way it turned out, especially since I was going to go another way at the beginning.  I couldn’t find the die I wanted to use, so I went with another die, and the whole concept changed:)  Life is just full of surprises! 🙂

Now, I have even more inspiration for you with some guests!  First up is Vicki Luebke of IN!  Vicki is a repeat sender, and I love the way she makes cards that can easily go into an envelope and be mailed! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAI actually love when cardmakers use the same papers and change the layouts and/or images! 🙂  I love all of these, they’re so cute!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThese 4 cards are all Fred She Said images, I love FSS! 🙂  Here’s the store link for Emma the Hugger, but you can scroll through the Christmas list and find all of these images! 🙂  Thank you Vicki for all these wonderful Christmas cards! 🙂  I know they’ll be loved whatever hospital gets them! 🙂

Next I have Alissa McKinney from IN also:)  This is the first time Alissa has sent in cards to us, but she’s off to a good start!  Alissa has told me she bought a Silhouette Portrait, and she buys cards online to cut out her images.  I have a vague idea how this works, so I hope you understand:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Alissa has used lots of designs and bright colors, perfect for kids!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAAren’t these cute?!  Mugs of Coco and a fun Santa.  All of the main images are popped up.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAAll of Alissa’s images are colorful and fun, but wait for the next ones!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERALook at all these fun Santas enjoying the sunshine on the beach!  These are so cute!  I think the kids will have a good laugh when they image Santa taking a break from his work to go to the beach!  Thank you so much Alissa for these great cards!  I hope to see more of your cards in the future! 🙂

Now because it is still Fall, I want to end with a few Fall cards also using Fred She Said images.  These cards are made by a repeat sender, Holly Blaskie from MI:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAHere’s the link for Emma in the Leaves, that’s the one with the leaves in the air.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAHere is the link for Raking, I love both of these images and have used them quite a bit myself! 🙂  Thank you Holly for these great Fall cards for the kids, I know they’ll enjoy them! 🙂

All of these cards will be going into boxes for Send A Smile 4 Kids!  Thank you to all the cardmakers who make this possible for the kids! 🙂  SAS4Kids also has a challenge blog where you can enter a card or just check out what others are making! 🙂

Thanks for coming by today! 🙂  I’m thankful for your interest, even if you don’t send in cards;)  I hope you come again to see more cards for inspiration! 🙂

Merry Monday #165 and SAS4Kids

Here’s another really short post.  I’ve been working on this card for two days!  Hubby has been off work all the kids are home and my daughter took two day trips and let me with everyone!  It’s been slow going making a card:(  But, everyone is finally in bed and I have a few minutes before I fall over and go to sleep!  This card actually took a while because I had to search for all the components and I changed my mind half way though;)

I’m going to enter this card in the Merry Monday #165 challenge🙂 This weeks challenge is candles and flowers:)  Of course, my card will be going into the Christmas box for Send A Smile 4 Kids! 🙂

165Now, I was going in a totally different direction with this card, I even had the design “approved” by my daughter;)  I was going to use gold glitter paper as my background and gold ribbon.  Well, that’s not what I made;) lol

abSDC16843

This is the paper I started with, I didn’t make it, I found it on Etsy listed as Bokeh Christmas Digital Paper.  I love this paper!  It’s actually a deeper red down on the left  and bottom.  I have so much trouble getting all the colors to look just right with the lighting I have available:(

The Bokeh looked like reflections of the candle light to me.  Anyway…..I used an image from Fred She Said called, Christmas Rose Coloured Set.  I cut it out with a Spellbinders die, and popped it up with Stampin’ Up! dimentionals.  I also used Stampin’ Up! 1/8″ Ribbon Taffeta (retired).  The top corner snow is called Snowflake Corner, by Memory Box.

I’m still living partially out of boxes, so I had to search for my ribbon and my Memory Box die, so annoying! 😦  I was going to use what I had on hand (gold) but then decided I really wanted the white:)  I hope you like my card, it really was Simply Made;)

Thanks for coming by to look at my blog! 🙂  Most people will probably be out watching fireworks, but two of my little ones are afraid of the noise, so I put them down early, hoping they would sleep through it.  So sad:(  Lawrence was actually excited about the fireworks until he remembered how loud they are:(   I hope you all have had a safe and happy 4th! 🙂

Happy Mother’s Day at SAS4Kids

Mother’s Day is coming next month! 🙂  I finally made some cards that I’ve been seeing everywhere!  I love these cards and I think they’re great for Mother’s Day:) So I’m going to get right to it.  I made all these cards myself:)  I’m going to enter one into the challenge over at Send A Smile 4 Kids, take a look:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis is what the paper looked like before I cut it up.  It’s a sheet from Stampin’ Up! called Painted Blooms.  The other side is beautiful too! 🙂

abSDC15175abSDC15169abSDC15178

I did the top row first. I used Soft Sky for the words and background.  I felt the words came out too light.  One the second card, I also used Soft Sky for the background, but Blushing Bride for the sentiment background.  I used Rose Red for the rest of the sentiments because I liked the way it looked;)  The third card, I used Crushed Curry, even though that wasn’t one of the colors listed for the paper package.  I thought it went better with the flower centers.

abSDC15172abSDC15174abSDC15170

On this row, I used Blackberry Bliss, Soft Sky and Rose Red for the backgrounds.  The center one has a little butterfly cut from the reverse side.  The card on the right has Dazzling Delights added to the purple flowers.  I couldn’t find any SU sentiments that I liked so I used a Mother’s Day stamp from Recollections, the Michaels brand.

There’s no shipping charges on any Stampin’ Up! order this week until Friday, April 10th! 🙂  Let me know if you would like to order anything:)

Here are some Birthday cards I made:)

abSDC15323

abSDC15181For this one, I used some paper out of a stack by Prima, called Firefly, I think it’s retired, but still beautiful:)  This is one of the more plain papers, my granddaughter picked it out:)  I cut it with a Memory Box die, Grand Happy Birthday.  I added a little bow in Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Delight.  The bird I got from Dozens Of Paper Cuts on Etsy.  I ordered two sets and I requested Stampin’ Up! Brights and Subtles.  Sue does a great job! 🙂

abSDC15201Another bird from Dozens Of Paper Cuts. I used the same Memory Box Die as above.  I stamped the birthday hat from a SU set that I just can’t remember right now:(  I cut out the hat part and then cut a small circle with a Stampin’ Up! hand punch, I think the 1/16th.  The paper is Night of Navy, and the DSP is from the current Occasions catalog, it’s called Birthday Bash Specialty because it has some embossed gold foil.  I printed mine with My Digital Studio.  I’m going to use the “real” paper next time to get the gold embossing:)

abSDC15203Again I used Designer Series Paper, Birthday Bash Specialty, and Night of Navy. I used the same Memory Box Die.  The little dragon is from Lawn Fawn, called Critters Ever After.  It has a matching die set.  The balloons I cut out of SU cardstock, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, and I think Old Olive, but I could be wrong about the green.  I colored the dragon with my Stampabilities markers.  I drew the balloon strings with my SU white pen.  I did use My Digital Studio to print my Birthday Bash paper, so it doesn’t have any gold in it:(  I like it, but I will use my paper package next time:)

I forgot to post some of my own Easter cards so I will add those here.  I made them for SAS4Kids, I was thinking teenager cards;)

abSDC15120

For these I used a new stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog called, For Peeps’ Sake.  The SU DSP is retired, Kaleidoscope.  I got it when it was in the Clearance Rack! 🙂  I used SU Crushed Curry and Bermuda Bay as my background cardstock.

Please be sure to read my post about my May Blog Candy!

Thanks for coming by today! 🙂  I’m not sure what I’ll be posting yet, it will be a surprise for all of us;)

Valentine: Send A Smile 4 Kids

Wow, you’re not going to believe that I actually made 4 more cards this week!  Good thing they invented lights, because I’m up very late at night making cards!  It doesn’t get quiet here until about 10pm, my hubby has been taking over in the morning:)  Even still, I’m up by 9am, that’s when I have to get up whether I want to or not;)  lol

I’m just posting cards today, if you would like info regarding supplies or techniques, please ask:) These cards are all for Send A Smile 4 Kids, except the last one, it’s going to my granddaughter;)  All digital images are by Doodle Pantry, so far, I have only worked with the pre-colored images.

Half-fold Card2 Half-fold Card3 Half-fold Card4 Half-fold Card5

I CASEd the card with the XOs from Susie B at SplitCoastStampers.  I think I found it on Pintrest.  Susie’s had a bear, really cute, thank you Susie for the inspiration:)

I hope you like my cards today.  Lawrence was taking a nap but he’s up now, and Grandpa is sleeping so I have to go be in charge:)

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look:)  I hope to have more cards by next week.  Hopefully it will be warmer next week and the kids will all go back to school so I can make cards;)  Please stay warm, or cool, wherever you may be! 🙂

I wanted to be sure and tell you about the Fred She Said Party over on the FSS blog! 🙂  Be sure to check it out for some great giveaways!

Now I have three cards to share! 🙂  I’ve already entered one at Merry Monday #88, but I think I can enter one more:) I’ve given all the cards away, so I will have to post details as I remember them.

Here’s their challenge:

MM New Look Sketches-021Here’s my first card:

Poster3This is a very simple card, but I love it!  I know my DIL checks out my blog now and then, so I have to ask her to not tell Matthew this is his card;)  I got the background from Raspberry Road Designs.  It’s called Blue Christmas Paper Set.  There are other Blue Christmas sets to match, including a freebie:)  Right now they are having a 50% off sale, so hurry over there!

Anyway……I picked out the paper and thought about what I would do next.  I flipped the image, and knew the deer would be perfect!  The deer are a Memory Box die called Deer Trio.  I cut them apart and placed them in the “snow”, I glued them down with sticky dots, not pop ups.  Then I looked at it a few days and thought about what I wanted to add.  I decided I didn’t want to add anything;)  It’s clean and simple, and I love it, I hope my grandson will too! 🙂

My next two cards are alike in that they use a technique called Starburst , I found the technique instructions here.  My next card:

Half-fold Card2I just couldn’t get the colors right for this photo, at least not to my satisfaction;)  But the card is gone so I had to do the best I could to present it.  The papers are from imaginisce, the series was called Polar Expressions.  I had a number of the papers and some chipboard stickers.  The bear is a chipboard sticker that is popped up with Stamin’ Up!,  Stampin’ Dimentionals.  I bought it several years ago, but I still love it! 🙂  I used the fronts and the backs of the papers to make my Starburst.

Last card for tonight:

Half-fold Card1Now the colors in this photo look awesome and I don’t know why, I took the photos one after the other.  This card uses a chipboard sticker from the previous pack of stickers, but the paper is something I found on ESTY.  I am so sorry to say I don’t remember where on ESTY:(  It was listed as Christmas paper, but it looked a little Spring like to me.  Finding Cardinal papers was almost impossible!  I do love how it turned out though! 🙂 I attached the Cardinal with glue dots.

Well, I’m off to get more done.  The grandkids will be home from school for two weeks, so I have to use my time wisely…..if that’s possible;) lol

Thanks for coming by today, I hope you’ll come again! 🙂  Be sure to check out all my links for special deals! 🙂

In case I don’t get back, please have a safe, peaceful, and very Merry Christmas!!!! 🙂

Freshly Made #101

Here I am again:)  I thought I would whip together a quick card tonight;)  Ha, ha!  This card looks simple, and it’s not hard, but it took forever!  I was thinking of sending this to Operation Write Home.  Now everything I make for this cause gets taped and glued!   I’m used to using the Stampin’ Up! Tombow glue.  I use it for all my crafts and I think it works great, plus it gives me a few seconds to adjust my layers before setting them.  With tape, it grabs right away and I don’t have any time to adjust:(  Some of you may notice my layers aren’t as perfect as they should be:(  Next time will be faster and better……I’m hoping;)

Anyway….I made this card for the challenge over at Freshly Made cards #101.  Here is their sketch:

FMS Final 101-001I know, looks pretty simple, right?  Here’s my card:

Half-fold Card2Still looks simple, but keep in mind, every layer was taped and glued!  Also, I don’t remember where I got this digital paper from, but I love it, and I made the plain paper to match the image paper.  If you click to enlarge, you can see that the snowflakes are made with a Memory Box Die, that’s the top layer.  Then I have the blue snowflake paper, layer 2.  Below that is the dark blue paper that I printed on brochure-matte paper, layer 3.  There are two layers of cardstock under that layer to make it level with the flags, layers 4 & 5.  Under that is a layer of swiss dots, layer 6.  Then another layer of dark blue, layer 7, and finally the card back.  I also layered the flags onto each other, and mounted them on a piece of cardstock so the dots wouldn’t show through the papers, they aren’t very thick.

Wow, I’m exhausted just telling you about it!  I just printed the snowflake paper, and cut it to size.  All the blue sheets I made from the original snowflake paper.  I have a free program called Artweaver, I opened my snowflake paper, then two empty boxes.  I used the eye dropper tool to pick up the colors I wanted from the original, then used the paint bucket to fill the empty boxes.  After that you need to save the boxes to your computer  in a folder with a name.  You need to make sure you save it in jpg format.  Not so simply made, but I think I made it look simple;) lol

If you’ve left a comment on my blog in August, I will be choosing a winner this week from all the entries for the Stampin’ Up! embossing folder.  So be sure to check back:)

Thanks for coming by today, I said I’d be back soon;)  I’m always glad when you come by! 🙂   I’ll see you again this week, maybe twice:)

Freshly Made #60

I just can’t stop making Christmas cards!  I have two more for you today:)  First I have a card for Freshly Made #60.  Here is the sketch for this week:

Here is my card, clean and simple, you can click on it to make it larger:

The hardest part for me is always picking papers!  For this card it might seem obvious, but I actually tried a different green and rejected it.  I used Stampin’ Up! Garden Green and Elegant Eggplant:)  I used a Memory Box die for the snowflakes, with some gems for accents.

The main image is from Fred She Said simply called Christmas Wreath. It comes in several different colors and also B&W if you like to color yourself;)  That is pretty much it for  this one.  I told you, it would be clean and simple:)

If you have a printer, you can make a card today! 🙂 Here is my second card:

This is a really simple card as well:)  The main image is the same set as above, Christmas Wreath, by Fred She Said. The red paper is also Fred She Said, Christmas Papers 1-2009. These are digital images and papers, you can purchase them, download them and then print them out to make a card,  all in about an hour, start to finish! 🙂  Oh, I forgot, the wreath set comes with several sentiments:)

Fred She Said has a Blog Hop coming up next week!  You could win credits toward her store and get free images!!  If you sign up for the FSS newsletter, you will get updates on contests, new digital images and sometimes freebies!!  There are new images in the store right now, so go have a look! 🙂

Thanks for coming by today!  I’ll be back again soon! 🙂
