SAS4Kids Challenge July 2, 2018

Ok, I think it’s been 2 weeks and here I am! 🙂  I’m so glad you’re stopping by! 🙂  The first thing I want to remind everyone is about the upcoming Blog Hop! 🙂

175th Challenge Celebration Coming!

SAS4Kids is celebrating our 175th Challenge on July 21, 2018 with a Huge Blog Hop with Many Prizes to be WON! The theme will be Christmas in July 4 Kids and you can win prizes by just commenting and/or entering the challenge!
That’s in 2 weeks from Saturday!! 🙂  There will be prizes along the Blog Hop for many to win!! 🙂  I will personally have two prizes to be given away for people commenting on my blog! 🙂  It should be lots of fun, I hope you can all join us!! 🙂
aDSC00458
I saw a card on Pinterest that was similar, but not the same.  I’m always saying how I need more “boy” cards, so I made one 😉  Using the Doodlebug, Dragon Tails, 6×6 pad, and also the Dragon Tails odds & ends pack.  I popped up the dragon and the sentiment with Stampin’ Dementionals from Stampin’ Up!, also some Tombow glue.  Deciding what to do was the hardest part.  Once I got going it was really easy! 🙂
Now I need to apologize to my cardmakers.  I’m sorry, this last month has been really busy and I didn’t have time to do individual card photos 😦  But I am going to share some of the group photos 🙂  So first I have Melissa Jackson of MO.  Melissa has group card making events and some of the ladies share their cards with us as well 🙂  So in her grouping of cards, other cardmakers could have actually made some of the cards, but they were all sent by Melissa for our kids! 🙂
DSC00437
Melissa’s group makes well made and fun cards, great to share with our kids! 🙂
Next up is Judy Martin of PA 🙂
DSC00442
Judy’s cards are all different, you can see her cards are fun too! 🙂
Next is Ruby Haugen of MN 🙂
DSC00451
Ruby tends to send themes, like holidays, this time was mostly baby cards which are so cute!  I’m also loving the three cards right up front! 🙂
Next is Dr. Robin Hayworth of NY! 🙂
DSC00455
Robyn sends some of the same cards almost every time, but she throws in new ones
also 🙂  Great selection for all ages! 🙂
I want to thank all of my card makers, including these four! 🙂  Your dedication means so much to me and the kids at our hospitals! 🙂  You make a difference! 🙂
Thank everyone for joining me today, even if you don’t make cards for SAS4Kids, I appreciate your interest! 🙂  I hope you’ve found some inspiration! 🙂
I hope you will join us on July 21st for our Christmas in July Blog Hop! 🙂  You can visit us on our blog, or start with me, here! 🙂

Blog Candy Winners! Paper Pumpkin and SAS4Kids

Wow, another long title, sorry, I couldn’t resist! 🙂  There is a lot to cover, so lets get to it! 🙂

I did draw the Blog Candy winners! Anyone who know my Lawrence, knows he’s very generous! 🙂  Yep, he didn’t want to stop at 4 winners, he wanted to draw 6!  So I’ve been searching through my boxes (yes, still living out of boxes) for some extra Blog Candy;)  I was successful in my search, so I’ll post the winning names, and you will all have to look at my new list of prizes:)  But first, I have a card I made with my May Stampin’ Up! Paper Pumpkin set! 🙂

04d5ca6e80621c44cf2a1d359a1a4d40So, this is the sample of what you can do with your May Stampin’ Up! Paper Pumpkin kit.  You can go on Pinterest and find a lot more samples, that’s what I did;)

And this is one of the cards I made:

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThe whole center portion I CASED from Patricia Allison, I found her card here on Pinterest.  I believe you need an account to see it, but signing up is free:)  Anyway….I cut the card base (supplied) in half and embossed the back (dark blue) with the stars embossing folder from Stampin’ Up!  Because the inside of the card base is white, I was able to sand off some of the stars and get it to look white in places.  I then mounted the whole thing on a white card base.

The central portion is almost all supplied in the kit!  The striped paper is the front of the card base.  The blue spotted paper is from one of the supplied gift bags, it has the balloon shaped cutout already done for you.  The yellow did come from a separate Designer Series Paper pack, but you could use the yellow tissue paper that’s supplied.  I cut the star out with a separate Stampin’ Up! punch, not included, also not included is the gem in the center of the star.   The Celebrate stamp is included, and I just stamped it on a white scrap and cut the ends with scissors.

Pinterest has a bunch of different samples, and I want to try a bunch of them! 🙂 This card will be going into a box for Send A Smile 4 Kids! 🙂 You can also visit their blog challenge here🙂

Okay, now for the Winners of the Blog Candy, in no special order:

Angie Seyer

Karen Peterson

Vicki Luebke

Holly Scheibe

Bev Schoepke

Holly Blaskie

I need all of these ladies to please email me with your choices A-G, numbered in your preference from one to 7.  That means one will be left over for next time;) Please email me at bspruce2000@yahoo.com

Now, just for fun, are some photos of Lawrence picking names from an Easter bucket! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis is Lawrence helping with a digger, also named a hair clip;)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAHe is so helpful! lol  Yes, it’s upside down! 😉  The rest of the names were pretty much the same;) lol  The first draw was everyone who commented, the second was everyone who sent in cards, and the rest of the draws were people who commented and sent cards:)

Here is my final list of prizes:

A-From Stampin’ Up, Framed Tulips Embossing Folder.  I love this folder! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAI cut these out myself and took a photo, all are included.  I have cats in black, top center and white so you can color yourself.  Kittens, in white, below the cats, and black.  I have puppies, in Stampin’ Up! Chocolate Chip and white.  There are two guitars one in silver and one in black.  Bottom left is a boy on a sled in black.  I love all of these cut outs, so I thought someone else might like them too:)

The last three items were purchased by me, but are brand new, and never used.  I was saving them for a future Blog Candy, but Lawrence feels very generous and he is so darn cute, how could I say no?! lol

E-simply sent-Happy Hello

This is a kit from Stampin’ Up! like the Paper Pumpkin, only simpler.  There are no stamps or ink, just card bases, embellishments and envelopes.

This is a single wood mount stamp, great for guy cards:)

G-Stampin’ Up! Lotus Blossom

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis is a clear stamp set.  You need to have your own acrylic stamp blocks.

As an example-you could send me a list like:  G-1, A-2, D-3 etc

You will only get one prize, I will do my best to match you with what you like, but I will have Lawrence draw again to see what you win:)  Yay, winners!  I hope you’ll enjoy your final prize!! 🙂

Thank you all for coming by, even if you didn’t win.  I plan on having another drawing for Blog Candy in the Fall, probably Octoberish:)  I hope to see you again soon:)

Merry Monday #159, Father’s Day, and SAS4Kids

I have lots of cards to show you today! 🙂  First, I would like to remind everyone to check out the Blog Candy I have for the month of May! 🙂

Next, I have a new card to enter into the challenge over at Merry Monday #159.

Need a little bit of inspiration for your Christmas cards?! You’ve come to the right place! There is still plenty of time for you to play along with Merry Monday #159! This week’s challenge is brought to you by our super talented, Debbie:

“Remember…have fun creating a Christmas card using “non-evergreen tree(s)” Have fun!

abSDC16053I’m assuming these are non-evergreen trees, at least I embossed them in Gold;)  I used half of a stamp for the Stampin’ Up! Christmas set, The Newborn King.  I love this set! 🙂  I can tell you how to get it at a discounted price!  If you’re interested, just let me know:)  I know it looks easy, but it actually took me almost a dozen tries to get it so I was satisfied!

First I stamped and embossed the entire stamp, which has more trees where the Glory is.  I had trouble getting the embossing powder to be just right😦  Then, I decided to go a whole different way!  This card actually has three different stamps from the set of 4.  I tried just stamping the left side, but I kept getting residue from the right side:(  You can tell I’ve never done this already;) lol  Then I took one of the images I didn’t like and cut it in half to make a template.  Ok, it was late and I really haven’t done this before…..really, my first time!

I stamped and embossed the left side, did the same for the right, and finally added the star.  I’ll be prepared to do this again! 😉  I didn’t have any Stampin’ Up! Gold paper on hand, so I used some from Recollections.  If you click on the image and make it larger, you can see the sparkle in the Gold paper:)  I really like how it turned out! 🙂  Of course, this will be going into a box for Send A Smile 4 Kids:) I actually make my cards so they can be found, many years from now by archeologists, I’m sure it will last until Christmas! 😉 lol

Now be prepared to be overwhelmed by Father’s Day cards! 🙂  My guest today is Holly Blaskie, from MI:)  Holly has sent cards several times and has done a wonderful job each time!  I truly appreciate all the cardmakers who send cards to me for SAS4Kids!! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Two beach scenes, these are really nice, great images for June:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis one could be Father’s Day or any day for a kid who loves their dad:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA    SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERATwo awesome trees! 🙂  Even though they both have trees, they are totally different! Holly has done a great job with both of these! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAI know most dads love cars, and this one is really special:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAHow cool is this one?!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAI love these!  The same sentiment, but totally different cards! 🙂  I’ll have to ask her about the footprints, I’m assuming it’s an embossing folder, but I’ve been wrong before;)  These could either be Father’s Day or just I Love You Dad cards:)

If you have a card for a kid, check out the challenge blog sponsored by Send A Smile 4 Kids, here🙂

Thanks for coming by today! 🙂  I still have some Father’s Day cards to share, but I’ll also be adding more kids cards, so please come back and have a look! 🙂

SAS4Kids with guest for Father’s Day

Wow, this month is going by so fast!  We’re well on our way to Father’s Day! 🙂  I have some wonderful cards to share today!  I DID NOT make any of these cards!!  These are all guest cards, made by card senders to Send A Smile 4 Kids🙂

The first cards are from Diane Herniman from Canada:)  Diane has been showcased here before, she makes beautiful cards! 🙂 This is what she has sent in for Father’s Day:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The card is on the left, it looks like a button down shirt:)  On the right is the envelope, isn’t it fun!?  Diane makes all her own envelopes!  In the front is the inside “shirt”, it says Dad, you’re awesome.  You then put it into the “shirt”, you’ll see it in some more photos:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Here it is in place on these two cards, aren’t they great!?  I think the kids will really enjoy giving these to their dads! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I received 26 of these cards from Diane, all different!  She sent me directions to make them and she insists they’re easy to make!  We’ll see next year;)

Now I have a few cards from Donna Wakefield:)  Donna has also sent cards before that I’ve shared here.  Donna also does a wonderful job of making cards! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

This one is really neat, I don’t think I’ve ever received one like this.  The tag pulls right out of the envelope!  And, it’s plaid, I love plaid!  My father was famous for his plaid shirts! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I really like this one, besides being plaid, it has a wonderful verse inside! 🙂  Now, it’s one of our rules at SAS4Kids, that the insides be blank for personal messagesHowever, for my hospital, I called ahead and made sure these cards were okay to send with the messages;)  Donna has also sent one more with a message.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Diane and Donna both included sentiments, and I’m sure a tongue tied teenager will most likely appreciate not having to actually write a note themselves;)

The next card is from Gail Beggs:)  Now Gail sent in a box way back in March.  The box had lots of different cards, but only one Father’s Day.  I try to take photos of most of the cards when they come in, so even though this card has been sitting in the Father’s Day box since March, I can still share it with you all:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAI love the colors and layout in this card, Gail has done a wonderful job! 🙂

I have one more set of cards today, sent in by Jill Blasche of Texas.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAJill sent 2 or 3 of each of these, they’re all blank inside:)  Wonderful cards for our kids to give their dads! 🙂  Jill has also sent cards before:)  We appreciate all of our card makers! 🙂  That’s why I want to remind everyone of my May Blog Candy! 🙂  Please scroll down or go here to find out more! 🙂

Thank you for coming by today! 🙂  I’ll be back with more cards soon! 🙂  Don’t forget to leave a comment and read up about the Blog Candy!  If you leave a comment, please follow me so you’ll know who the winners are in June! 🙂

Blog Candy & Freshly Made Sketches #185

This will be another short post today.  I hope everyone enjoyed their Mother’s Day! 🙂

Today I have a card that will be going into the Send A Smile 4 Kids box🙂  It’s for Father’s Day, yes we just keep rolling along;)  I’m also going to enter this card in the challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches #185. Here is their sketch for this week:

FMS Final 185-001ab fathers day glove 1Yes, I do stay close to the sketch;) lol  One day I’ll surprise you all….but not today;)  I’m a little annoyed with this card:(  I printed two papers to use, I wanted to use the other paper first.  Sadly, I mounted it crooked:(  So this is plan B paper.  Since I was in a hurry, because I won’t be able to finish up tomorrow and still submit it on time, I went ahead and used this paper.  I love this paper, it’s from Stampin’ Up! and is called Well Worn.  I actually use it a lot:)  I don’t have the actual paper anymore, it’s retired, but I have it on My Digital Studio.  I just print what I need, whenever I need it:)

Anyway, the other paper is from the same set, so it uses the same colors.  I picked the colors for the first paper, so the Soft Suede, looks a little lost:(  I was going to use Not Quite Navy, but it’s hiding somewhere, because it’s retired:(  I was going to find it before I used this paper. It actually does look better in hand:)  That’s a long story, sorry:(  The colors I used are Soft Suede and Cajun Craze.

The image is digital and I bought it from Fred She Said Designs, it’s called Valentine’s Day-Catch Your Heart.  I took the image over to my Print Shop program and added the “Dad”.  I think it works for Father’s Day:)

Be sure to either scroll down or go here to find out about my Blog Candy!! 🙂

Thanks for coming by today, I’m happy to have you visit! 🙂  Be back soon with more Father’s Day cards! 🙂

BLOG CANDY, SAS4Kids Father’s Day with guest

Happy Birthday to me Blog Candy!

My birthday is in May, two of my grandsons have birthdays in May, and my husband’s birthday is in May.  What a great month!!:)

So here’s what I’m thinking…..throughout the entire month of May, you can make a comment on my blog, this will get you one chance to win.:)

You can send me a card for a “child” 1 year to 19 years, that will  get you two chances to win:)

If you make a comment during May, and send at least one card, you will have three chances to win! 🙂

If you’ve been following me for the last couple of months, you know I am doing volunteer work for Send A Smile 4 Kids, you can find my address and info here.   This is a wonderful group of people who make, collect, and donate handmade cards to children’s hospitals:)  Any and all cards sent to me will be donated to The Children’s Hospital of Illinois:)

What kind of Blog Candy do I have, you might ask.  I have 4 items that I will send out.  You will be able to let me know what your wish list is by numbering the letters 1-4.  One being what you would like the most, but this is not a guarantee.   These items have not been donated, all these items are from my own personal stash of craft items and are unused!  So here’s my list of Candy:)

A-From Stampin’ Up, Framed Tulips Embossing Folder.  I love this folder! 🙂

C-From Stampin’ Up, You Brighten My Day, cling mount stamp set.

D- From me, die cut outs.

So, now, I’m hoping you’re wondering what kind of card to send;)  Here are the SAS4Kids suggestions. You could send birthday, thank you, thinking of you, sending prayers, thoughts & prayers, have a great day, encouragement, no sentiment with a cheerful image, Father’s Day is in June, so that would be fine as well.  Please no Get Well, some of these children will not get well:(  We would like to concentrate on cheerful cards:)

I will announce the winners by June 15th, so please follow me so you will be notified of the winners:)  Also, if you send cards, make sure you include your email address and I will be able to notify you personally:)

Now, for some cards! 🙂  All the cards shown today will be from a cardmaker sending cards to Send A Smile 4 Kids, Janelle Klapperich, from SD! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThese are the 3 cards from Janelle Klapperich that I will highlight today.  All of them are Father’s Day cards and they are made beautifully! I know a lot of the supplies are from Stampin’ Up!, if you have any questions, I can refer them to Janelle:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAI had seen this shoe set and wondered what you could do with these shoes.  Wow, Janelle did a wonderful job! 🙂  I love this card and I know some child will love giving it to their dad! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Look how different these two cards look, with the same supplies! 🙂  Well, almost, just changing the color of the sentiment, and the background paper, has given them a totally different feel:)  ( in my opinion;) )

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAOh, dear, I did a preview of this card just now, and noticed the card on the right has Janelle’s name spelled wrong:(  I’m so sorry Janelle! 😦

I wanted to tell you all to click on either one and it will enlarge, then take a look at the fish eye, it’s awesome! 🙂  I love these cards too:)  I think Janelle did a wonderful job choosing her papers! 🙂  Two similar cards, that feel very different, by just changing the color of the paper:)

All of these cards will be enjoyed by the fathers of the kids at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois! 🙂  Thank you Janelle for sending these cards in to me.  I have more cards from Janelle to share in a future post:)

Thanks for coming by today! 🙂  Be sure to read about the Blog Candy and leave a comment regarding Janelle’s cards:)  See you soon! 🙂

FMS Final 184-001abSDC15713For this card I used Stampin’ Up! Soft Sky, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, hmmm, I think the birds are Tempting Turquoise and Melon Mambo, but I don’t remember, sorry.  I added the birds as a last thought and I made them more than a month ago.  Both of the dies are from Impression Obsession.  The kite is DIE153-I and the birds are DIE154-A.  The bird die has 10 small birds and the kite comes with this big kite, the pieces to go inside the big kite, a small kite, two strings and 4 bows, really awesome! 🙂

I’m also going to enter again into The Challenge #32 over at Always Playing With Paper.

New Banner-005I really like this card:)  Yes, it will be going into my box for Send A Smile 4 Kids;)

One more bit of news:)  This card was chosen as a runner-up, (Glamette) for the Friday Mashup #206🙂  Yay! 🙂

Friday Mashup #206 & ALWP The Challenge # 32

Ok, this is going to be a short, quick post today:)  I’m entering some cards into challenges and I only have half an hour to do it!  Of course, I will be back soon with some more cards to share:)

This is the challenge over at the Friday Mashup #206:

This week’s Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project using ” Umbrellas”.
  • Create a project using “Polka Dots”.
  • Or Create a project using “Umbrellas & Polka Dots”.

abSDC15680So I have umbrellas and polka dots:)  I love polka dots! 🙂  I made a card almost exactly like this last year, but smaller.  This card is not an A2, it’s  just a little too big for an A2 envelope, but I needed to make the elements fit right;)  I used Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Delight for this one, and an image from Clear Dollar Stamps.  CDS has closed, but you can find some of their images at Doodle Pantry.

Here’s the challenge #32 over at Always Playing With Paper.  Also polka dots, yay!:)

New Banner-005

I could use the same card, but instead, since these cards are going to Send A Smile 4 Kids, I made two;)

abSDC15681For this card I used Stampin’ Up! Wisteria Wonder.  Which one do you like better?  Maybe I should have used SU Perfect Plum, I’ll try it later;)

Thanks for stopping by for this short post, I’m off to submit my cards.  Check out both challenge blogs and see what others have made:)

Mother’s Day with SAS4Kids with 3 guests

Wow, I can’t believe how fast it got from Easter to Mother’s Day!  Time does go by quickly! 😉  I hope to have one more Mother’s Day post before we move on to Father’s Day, but today, it’s all about Mom:)

My first guest who has made cards to support Send A Smile 4 Kids, is Donna Wakefield, of Bedford, IN.  Donna has sent in cards before so she is a repeat donor, thank you Donna! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAIsn’t this beautiful?  Great card by Donna, love the purples:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAHere are two more cards from Donna, these look really fun! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThese cards are from Tammy Gullett, of Ottumwa, IA.  She sent 9 cards all the same.  They may not sound like a lot, but every card received is one more sent to the kids to share with their moms.  Thank you so much Tammy 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAHere’s a closer look.  You can see she used Versamark to stamp the background, it’s just barely there.  I love this technique:)  She has layer of embossed cardstock on the right, as well as some flowers from Stampin’ Up!  All of them are lovely! 🙂 Tammy has also sent in cards before:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThese cards are from Jill Blasche, of Houston, TX.  These cards are all beautiful!  Jill has sent multiples of each to share with our kids:)  Jill has also shared with us before.  Thank you Jill for thinking of us again! 🙂

All of the cards shared today are wonderful! 🙂  I know our kids will be excited to share them with their Moms! 🙂  I don’t think any of them are difficult to make.  I believe you could follow these examples of layouts and make some beautiful cards! 🙂

I’d like to have one more showing of cards for you to enjoy before Mother’s Day.  I’m expecting two packages tomorrow and I will take photos before I pack them to ship to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois:)  Then we move on to our Father’s Day cards:)  I know I’ll also be slipping in some cards for the kids:)

While your here, take a look at my blog post for May!  I will be having a drawing at the end of May for some Blog Candy! 🙂  Yes, you can join in, read my blog post and be sure to follow me to get all the details! 🙂

Thanks for coming by today, I appreciate your interest! 🙂  I’m off to make cards now, everyone is sleeping and it’s nice a quiet! 🙂  I hope you come back again! 🙂

Happy Birthday to me Blog Candy!

I’m changing my Blog Candy to May instead of April.

D- From me, die cut outs.

I’m already planning on Blog Candy for the Fall;)

As always, thanks for coming by and reading my long note! 🙂  I’ll post cards with these items as I make them;)
