SAS4Kids Christmas in July Blog Hop

Two weeks and here I am again! 🙂  Today is a special day, we have our Blog Hop today! 🙂  I’m so excited and I hope you are too! 🙂

Christmas in July Challenge and Blog Hop Celebrating our 175th Challenge!

Welcome to our huge blog hop and celebration of Send A Smile 4 Kids’ 175th Challenge! The theme of our blog hop is Christmas in July 4 Kids because it is never too early to start making holiday cards for all the kids in the many children’s hospitals we now serve. We would love for each child to receive a holiday card as well as be able to pick some for special medical staff or loved ones they are missing during the holiday season.

We have 17 stops in the blog hop and at each stop you have one or two chances at winning just by leaving a comment. You can also earn a chance to win a prize by commenting on the blog post on our SAS4Kids blog and also by entering the Christmas in July challenge which starts July 21st and runs through August 3rd at noon.

One comment on any of the blogs or on the main SAS4Kids blogpost qualifies you to win one of the prizes on that blog. If you leave a comment on each stop, you will have earned 17 chances to win a prize, and if you enter a card in the Christmas in July 4 Kids challenge, you will also earn a chance to win one of 8 random prizes there.

**You MUST have an USA mailing address to qualify to win any of the prizes. We apologize to any of our readers outside of the USA, but this is a requirement to win any of the prizes in this blog hop and in the Christmas in July challenge.

**The blog hop will start July 21st at 8:00 a.m. CST and continue until July 31st at midnight CST. When the blog hop is done, all the winners will be drawn randomly from the commenters on each blog and on the main blog, and announced on the SAS4Kids blog on August 4th and on each individual blog. If your name is listed as a winner, you must contact Karen at khasheck@gmail.com BEFORE August 18th at midnight CST with your NAME, EMAIL ADDRESS AND MAILING ADDRESS. If you do not contact Karen before August 18th at midnight CST, your prize will be forfeited.

**The Christmas in July 4 Kids challenge at SAS4Kids will run from July 21st until August 3rd at Noon CST (as is typical of our two week challenges.) You can qualify for one of 8 prizes by entering a Christmas or holiday card appropriate for a child following the rules of all of our challenges found in the page above. The prizes will be awarded by random drawing and announced with the rest of the winners on August 4th on our blog.

We are so happy to have some of the volunteers who collect and distribute cards to our many children’s hospitals as well as some TEAM SAS alumni and previous Top Three winners join the SAS4Kids TEAM SAS in this blog hop!

Now, on to some cards! 🙂  I have two cards from one of our sponsors, Fred She Said Designs 🙂  This link goes right to the page of this set called Christmas Poinsettia Packs: Red or Blue 🙂

My Project2

This first card was made with items in the pack, except for the shiny gold medallion behind the flower.  The medallion is from Stampin’ Up!, it’s retired, but I had a few left over from last year.  It’s just an idea how you can make the pack items look a little different.  I also used Stampin’ Up! Real Red cardstock for my base layer 🙂

This is the second card I made using the Christmas Poinsettia Pack, from Fred She Said 🙂  I’m sorry, parts of this look a little blurry to me 😦  I hope you all can see it okay 🙂  I used just the Poinsettia from the pack and mounted the whole thing of Stampin’ Up! Real Red.  The black paper is from Carta Bella, Christmas Delivery paper pack #2.  Nope, I don’t have it sitting around, I bought it from Snap Click Supply.  It’s a digital paper pack, and it printed out beautifully on Canon, Matte, photo paper.

Behind the black designer paper is just some Stampin’ Up! Basic Black. For the Memory Box, Holly Vine, I used Stampin’ Up! Garden Green. I used a set by Avery Elle called Winter Woodland Wonders for the “Merry Christmas” sentiment. Lastly, I used a retired embellishment for the middle of my flower from Stampin’ Up!

The Poinsettia was so easy to cut out once it was printed, also on Canon, Matte, photo paper.  This card shows that you can take items you have sitting around, add a FSS Christmas Poinsettia and you have a beautiful card! 🙂

Now, I will be giving away, free, to one of my commenters, one of two Stampin’ Up! Party Pandas stamp sets! 🙂  All you have to do is make a comment on my blog and you will be entered to win! 🙂

I made a card for this occasion, the set is usually for Birthdays, but I saw a panda with a Christmas hat somewhere and thought it was so cute! 🙂

I used Stampin’ Up!  Real Red cardstock.  The tree is from Peaceful Pines, the sentiment from Snowflake Sentiments, The hat is from Jolly Friends, it also had a punch for the hat, and of course, the panda is from Party Pandas, all sets from Stampin’ Up! I believe they are all retired, but Stampin’ Up! has a lot of sets that are similar and the new Holiday catalog will be coming out before you know it! 🙂

I cut down the hat and white hat band, it was a little too big, but it helped to have the punch 😉  The panda actually has a card in his hand.  I cut out his arms and made a little Christmas gift and colored it with Stampin’ Up! markers.  I drew the bow right onto his lower face 😉  The inks I used were Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Real Red and Early Espresso on the tree trunk.

I am personally supplying 3 Stampin’ Up! stamp sets.  One on Dena’s blog and 2 on my blog.  I have two sets of Party Pandas 🙂  These were very popular and very cute! 🙂

I enjoyed making all these cards and encourage you to check out Fred She Said and Stampin’ Up!

Thank you so much for supporting Send a Smile 4 Kids and our wonderful sponsors of this blog hop. Good luck in the drawings! Leave a comment here and hop for more chances at many prizes.

THE NEXT STOP IS: Anne Slattery

SAS4Kids Challenge July 2, 2018

Ok, I think it’s been 2 weeks and here I am! 🙂  I’m so glad you’re stopping by! 🙂  The first thing I want to remind everyone is about the upcoming Blog Hop! 🙂

175th Challenge Celebration Coming!

SAS4Kids is celebrating our 175th Challenge on July 21, 2018 with a Huge Blog Hop with Many Prizes to be WON! The theme will be Christmas in July 4 Kids and you can win prizes by just commenting and/or entering the challenge!
That’s in 2 weeks from Saturday!! 🙂  There will be prizes along the Blog Hop for many to win!! 🙂  I will personally have two prizes to be given away for people commenting on my blog! 🙂  It should be lots of fun, I hope you can all join us!! 🙂
I saw a card on Pinterest that was similar, but not the same.  I’m always saying how I need more “boy” cards, so I made one 😉  Using the Doodlebug, Dragon Tails, 6×6 pad, and also the Dragon Tails odds & ends pack.  I popped up the dragon and the sentiment with Stampin’ Dementionals from Stampin’ Up!, also some Tombow glue.  Deciding what to do was the hardest part.  Once I got going it was really easy! 🙂
Now I need to apologize to my cardmakers.  I’m sorry, this last month has been really busy and I didn’t have time to do individual card photos 😦  But I am going to share some of the group photos 🙂  So first I have Melissa Jackson of MO.  Melissa has group card making events and some of the ladies share their cards with us as well 🙂  So in her grouping of cards, other cardmakers could have actually made some of the cards, but they were all sent by Melissa for our kids! 🙂
Melissa’s group makes well made and fun cards, great to share with our kids! 🙂
Next up is Judy Martin of PA 🙂
Judy’s cards are all different, you can see her cards are fun too! 🙂
Next is Ruby Haugen of MN 🙂
Ruby tends to send themes, like holidays, this time was mostly baby cards which are so cute!  I’m also loving the three cards right up front! 🙂
Next is Dr. Robin Hayworth of NY! 🙂
Robyn sends some of the same cards almost every time, but she throws in new ones
also 🙂  Great selection for all ages! 🙂
I want to thank all of my card makers, including these four! 🙂  Your dedication means so much to me and the kids at our hospitals! 🙂  You make a difference! 🙂
Thank everyone for joining me today, even if you don’t make cards for SAS4Kids, I appreciate your interest! 🙂  I hope you’ve found some inspiration! 🙂
I hope you will join us on July 21st for our Christmas in July Blog Hop! 🙂  You can visit us on our blog, or start with me, here! 🙂

Fred She Said Ground Hog Day Blog Hop

final wiarton willieFred She Said is having a Ground Hog Day Blog Hop.  Tracey, from Fred She Said hails from Wiarton, Ontario, Canada, home of Wiarton Willie, the albino ground hog.  Every February 2nd, Willie emerges from his den to predict whether or not we will have an early Spring.  If he sees his shadow, he will become frightened and scurry back into his den, hailing 6 more weeks of winter.  If he does not see his shadow, he will declare an EARLY SPRING woohoo!  Tracey has asked the Fred She Said DT to make a card – either a “wintery” card ( if they think Willie will predict  a LATE SPRING ) or a “Flowery or Spring” card ( if they think he will predict an EARLY SPRING ).

Your job, dear blog hopper, is to hop along and TALLY up how many DT thought it will be an EARLY SPRING and how many predict a LATE SPRING.   Instructions on how to enter will be posted on the last stop at the FSS CHALLENGE BLOG.

Blog Hop closes Friday February 8th,  Midnight EST

$30 GC for the Fred She Said Store
$25 GC for Crop Stop ( provided by Tracey )

( 25% off any purchase  on or over $10 from Friday FEB 1 UNTIL Sunday FEB 3 midnight EST )

Why?  Because I want one!! LOL   When I started making cards for this Hop, it was 60 degrees (for those of you who don’t know, that’s very warm for January in Illinois, USA! )   But warm weather doesn’t last long here in Illinois.  The very next day it snowed!  Now it’s VERY cold!!!!

So what does my card look like?  Here it is:

Half-fold Card1This beautiful pre-colored digital image made me think of standing on a hill in the Spring with the warm breeze blowing though my hair:)  If you go here, you can find the free digital background, just scroll down a bit:)  The image of Emma is called, Emma and the Butterfly.  I asked Tracey for the PNG version so I could add it to the background.  I printed two Emmas, cut one out  and popped up the dress and butterfly.

The white embossed frame is from Stampin’ Up! called, the Framed Tulip Embossing Folder, one of my favorites!  The sentiment is from the retired set, Easter Blossoms.  I love this set, but having recently moved, I still can’t find it so I popped over to my Stampin’ Up! site and ordered the EASTER BLOSSOMS STAMP BRUSH SET as a digital download.

The great thing about the My Digital Studio downloads, besides the fact that you can get retired images, is that it’s almost instantly available.  You don’t even have to own the My Digital Studio software!  I, of course, own MDS , but in this instance I used it in my Print Shop to make it the size I wanted it!  How cool is that!?

Now for the part that’s not so “simple” for everyone, I made my own paper:)  Yep, I have a program that’s called Artweaver.  I downloaded the free version;)  I took my image of Emma, plus opened a new window.  I used the ink dropper to pick up the color from the ribbon on Emma’s dress and used the paint bucket to make my own color in the new window.

Ok, I know that sounds hard, and for the first three or four tries, it was, but now it’s easy:)  Something to think about;)  Let me know if you would like to try it, or the My Digital Studio.

If you follow me at all, you know I have a couple more cards to celebrate the Early Spring I’m predicting (hoping for).  Just keep scrolling:)

If you’ve come from Crystal, you’re right on track, and your next stop is Karen🙂  If you’ve just happened to stop by, head over to the Fred She Said blog and start with Tracey🙂

Here is the blog hop list in case you lose your way!

Blog Hop List:

Janet Kay – Me, you are here
FSS CHALLENGE BLOG ( entry instructions )

Good luck and Have Fun!

For those of you still here, I have two more cards! 🙂  Nothing says Spring quite like Daffodils….. unless it’s Tulips, so I have one of each!! 🙂  Both cards use all Stampin’ Up! products, except for the beautiful digital images from the  Fred She Said store.

These two are from the Spring Flowers & Paper Pricking Frame set.  There are two more flowers in the set.

Half-fold Card4

Half-fold Card13Yes, I made them almost the same, that’s because I won’t send them both to the same person, and I love them both!  For the Daffodils, I used Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Delight cardstock and buttons.  For the Tulips I used SU Primrose Petals cardstock and ribbon.  Both these cards were very simple to make.  If you need a nice card quickly, FSS pre-colored digital images are the way to go!  I don’t color very well and Tracey does beautiful coloring!  Most of her images also come un-colored so you can choose your own colors if you like;)

As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I’m always happy to answer questions or order products for you:)  As a Fred She Said Design Team member, I’m also happy to answer questions about images and techniques:)

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to check out the Fred She Said Blog Hop, you could win!! 🙂

I’ve made the project above, and an extra one at the end of this post, so be sure to scroll to the bottom;)

For my first card, I used a pre colored digital image from Fred She Said called, Blue Jay & Raspberries Coloured SET.  The paper I used is also from the store, but not included in the set.  The paper pack is called, FSS-BMD Yummy Delights Digital Papers SET.  It has lots of yummy papers:)

I used my Spellbinders Scalloped Oval set behind the bird, in Stampin’ Up! Real Red,  and the Classic Oval set to cut out the main image.  The sentiment is from Stampin’ Up! set Swrils & Curls Verses, a retired Hostess set.

I popped up the bird with Stampin’ Up! Stampin’ Dimensionals, as well as my sentiment.  The ribbon is Stampin’ Up! Pacific Point. I used S’U! Crystal Effects to highlight the berries on the main image, it makes them shiny and raised up a little bit.   Please scroll down after reading to see the next card:)

I used Stampin’ Up! Real Red as my background, white cardstock cut with S’U! Adorning Accents Edgelits, and on top of that I used Garden Green and a retired S’U! punch called Lace Ribbon Border.  The stamp is from Stampin’ Up! retired set Wonderful Words II.
