Freshly Made Sketches #324 & Easter

Hello again! πŸ™‚Β  I know, I’ve been gone a long time again 😦  I hope you all are making Easter cards! πŸ™‚Β  Easter is early this year, April 1st!Β  Hard to believe there are only a few weeks to get your cards sent in! πŸ™‚Β  I have some cards to show you that I’ve been working on πŸ™‚Β  My first card is for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge #324.Β  I will also be posting on the SAS4Kids challenge blog, you can too! πŸ™‚

First up is the sketch I worked from:

FMS Final 324-001My Project (201802152018) c

For this card I used a retired Stampin’ Up! set, Basket Bunch πŸ™‚Β  I think it’s such a cute set, I wish we still had it for sale! πŸ™‚Β  It comes with all the stamps and dies, I just used a little ink and it was all done! πŸ™‚Β  I find these minimal sketches very challenging, I’m so used to putting so much more on a card!

Here are a few more cards I made for Easter, not very exciting, but I’m sure some kids is going to love them! πŸ™‚Β  I also found making “boy” Easter cards to be a challenge!Β  I hope some of you are making “boy” cards! πŸ˜‰

Donor cards for Easter have been very slow coming in, but I have some cards to share πŸ™‚Β  First up is Diane Herniman from Canada πŸ™‚Β  Diane was joined by her daughter, Dawn to make these great cards! πŸ™‚

Thank you Diane and Dawn, beautiful cards! πŸ™‚Β  Lots of variety here for kids of all ages! πŸ™‚

I also have cards to share from Ruby Haugen of MN:)

Thank you Ruby for always sending such adorable cards! πŸ™‚

I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at all the Easter cards! πŸ™‚Β  Hopefully you’ve gotten some inspiration, or decided you’d like to send in cards to our cause as well! πŸ™‚Β  It seems most of our volunteers have a good supply of cards, except holidays.Β  Easter will be very soon!Β  Please try to get cards to your volunteers at least 2 weeks prior to a holiday! πŸ™‚Β  After Easter/Spring is Mother’s Day and then Father’s Day, I know, hard to believe! πŸ™‚

Please let me know if you would like to become a volunteer! πŸ™‚Β  You get to choose your hospitals, and donors would send you cards to share with that hospital or hospitals πŸ™‚

Kids love to receive cards and handmade cards are the best! πŸ™‚

Thank you for coming by today, it’s always fun to share the wonderful cards received for our kids! πŸ™‚Β  I hope to see you sooner next time! πŸ™‚

Freshly Made Sketches #319 & Encouragement

Some of you must wonder what I do that I don’t have time for many cards.Β  I adopted one of my grandsons, and he’s only 6.Β  Quite a handful for someone in their 60s, at least I think so! lolΒ  I also have 2 sons, 3 daughters and 10 other grandchildren! πŸ™‚Β  Four of my granddaughters live right down the street and their family doesn’t have a car so I do all the driving.Β  Plus I manage cards for 4 hospitals!Β  There is seldom a dull moment in my house! lol

You may think all this time I haven’t made any cards, but I have πŸ™‚Β  I’m going to show you some of my cards today, because my theme is Encouragement cards.Β  A number of people have asked about Encouragement cards, so I’m going to show you some, and give my advice for making them, and it’s easy! πŸ™‚

First off I want to show the card I made for Freshly Made Sketches #319, I will also post it on the Send A Smile 4 Kids challenge blog πŸ™‚Β  Here is the #319 sketch:

FMS Final 319-001

And here is my card:

aDSC01813

What can I say, my cards aren’t really exciting, I make them for kids, I try to make them cute and fun πŸ˜‰Β  What can be more cute and fun than this adorable little panda?!Β  You can get it free from Stampin’ Up! with a $50 purchase during Sale a Bration! πŸ™‚Β  I bought the cute envelope paper at Snap Click Supply Co.Β  I got it last week on $1.00 Wednesday.Β  They have rotating digital products for sale every Wednesday πŸ™‚Β  I saw the paper and knew right away what I wanted to do.Β  I fussy cut my little panda.Β  As always I kept close to the sketch and my card is clean and simple πŸ™‚

Now for some other cards I’ve been making:

This is mostly digital papers that I printed with my computer and printer, but you could use paper stacks.Β  You could use any paper, with any theme.Β  People seem confused when I say Winter theme cards.Β  These are Winter themed Encouragement cards.Β  Winter papers with Encouraging sentiments πŸ™‚

Also Winter themed with Encouraging words.

I made these Winter themed Encouragement cards with older (teen, pre-teen) kids in mind.Β  All Stampin’ Up! products.Β  These are certainly not the only type of card that is Encouraging.Β  Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer all have nice papers and images that can be considered Encouraging πŸ™‚

I’m including some cards from Vicki Luebke of IN πŸ™‚

Now click on the images to enlarge and read some of the sentiments.Β  Some of my sentiments were rubber stamps and some printed off my computer.Β  I’m pretty sure Vickie’s were computer generated.Β  It works out great if you can size them so they fit into punches or dies that you already have.Β  Please no hand written sentiments.

There are many more sentiments that you can find or print.Β  Great Job, Good Job, Have a Wonderful Day, Wishing you Sunshine, You Did it, Congrats, Be Brave, Be Strong, Be Happy, Smiles, Hugs, Enjoy Your Day, Make Memories, Have Fun.Β  If you can think of anything that might be good for Encouragement, feel free to add it to the comment section!

If you still have questions, you can ask in the comments or email me for a more personal answer πŸ™‚Β  I plan to make more Encouragement cards for other Seasons.

Thank you Vicki for letting me share your Encouraging cards!

I hope you all have enjoyed these cards! πŸ™‚Β  Thanks for coming by whether you send in cards or just join us for inspiration, I appreciate your interest! πŸ™‚Β  I hope you can come by again! πŸ™‚

It’s was warm earlier this week but we’ve fallen back down to the single digits 😦  Hence my signature of snowmen! lolΒ  Spring is coming…….sometime…….wait for it! πŸ™‚

Freshly Made Sketches #306 & SAS4Kids

It’s the first day of Fall here in the Midwest and it hit 93 today!Β  I love Fall, but that’s a tad hot for me!Β  I hope it’s nicer where you are! πŸ™‚Β  Today I have some cards of my own.Β  These cards are made for younger kids and are very simple!Β  I’m not kidding about this! πŸ™‚Β  I wanted to share these cards because they are simple for one, and for two it gives an example of what I mean when I say “everyday sentiments with Fall themes”.

My first card is for Freshly Made Sketches #306.Β  Here is their sketch:

FMS Final 306-001

2aDSC01294

If you’ve been here before, you know I stick pretty close to the sketch πŸ˜‰Β  I used an ESTY digital image and a sentiment by TLC.Β  All the papers are Stampin’ Up!Β  This card I made thinking of teen girls.Β  Life is tough for teens and being in the hospital is really tough!Β  Notice the Fall leaves embossing folder, the Fall leaves strip and the Fall colors πŸ™‚

Next I have a card made for the challenge at our own Send A Smile 4 Kids blog, Fall colors for kids.

aDSC01255

All of the cards I’m showing next are mine.Β  I have weird signatures and watermarks going on 😦  My Print Shop program decided to stop working and I had to do the best I could on my own, not a pretty sight, sorry 😦  But please pay attention to the sentiments and the “Fall themes”.

On the cowardly lion, the one on the left says “Have Courage”, the one on the right has a medal and says “You did it”.

I notice the sizes are all wonky too, I don’t know why, sorry again 😦

Next time I’ll be back with more cards from my SAS4Kids donors! πŸ™‚Β  Cards are starting to come in for Fall and Halloween, I hope you’re getting excited, because I am! πŸ™‚

Thanks for coming by today, I hope you enjoyed my cards, even though they are very simple and intended mostly for younger kids πŸ˜‰Β  I hope to make some more teen cards soon πŸ™‚

Freshly Made Sketches #295 & Guests

It’s been busy around here but I found time to make a card! πŸ™‚Β  I’m glad you could join us for some inspiration! πŸ™‚Β  I’m back with another card for Freshly Made Sketchs #295.Β  Here is their sketch for this week.

FMS Final 295-001

Here is my card for this week πŸ™‚

aDSC00827

Yes, another card for the kids we serve at Send A Smile 4 Kids πŸ™‚Β  I used an adorable pre-colored digi from Fred She Said called “Emma in the Leaves Coloured“.Β  You can also get it uncolored in the section named Autumn.Β  I used Stampin’ Up! Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler, and Crushed Curry.Β  I also used the Stampin’ Up! Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.Β  Included in the set are circles, squares and ovals.Β  I do have some buttons shaped like leaves, but couldn’t find them, so I used some foiled leave that I found in my stash πŸ™‚

I like having Seasonal cards with different sentiments for the kids.Β  There’s more going on in every Season besides a holiday or Birthday! πŸ˜‰Β  You can add encouraging words, general sentiments, as well as Happy Fall, Happy Halloween,Merry Christmas, etc.

I have guest cards today to share, I know everyone likes to see what everyone else is making! πŸ™‚Β  First I have Jill Blasche of TX πŸ™‚Β  Jill makes and sends in lots of cards! πŸ™‚

Thank you Jill for this wide variety of wonderful cards! πŸ™‚Β  Jill sent multiples of most of these cards! πŸ™‚Β  A lot of cards for our Peds ICU!

Next I have Vicki Luebke of IN πŸ™‚Β  Vicki also sends lots of cards and specializes in sending Encouragement cards! πŸ™‚Β  Not sure what to send as an Encouragement card?Β  Look at some of these sentiments πŸ™‚

The little boy with the frog is also Fred She Said, it’s called “Nolan & The Bullfrog“.Β  Thank you Vicki for these great cards for our boys and girls! πŸ™‚

Lastly I have cards from Dr. Robin Hayworth of NY πŸ™‚Β  Robyn has sent many cards πŸ™‚

Robin doesn’t just send to me, I’ve seen thank yous on our gratitude page.Β  Robin is sending to several of our volunteers! πŸ™‚Β  Thank you Robin for your dedication to our kids, with your beautiful cards! πŸ™‚

Lots of variety today for just about everyone! πŸ™‚Β  I’d like to thank, not just these three ladies, but all of my donors for their wonderful cards and their inspiration to me! πŸ™‚

For the Send A Smile blog post, please visit here πŸ™‚

If you come by just to visit, I’m thankful for your interest! πŸ™‚Β  It’s easy to be a donor if you’d like to give it a try, please visit here, and then check out our other links at the top of the page πŸ™‚

Thank you all for coming by! πŸ™‚Β  I hope to see you again soon! πŸ™‚

Freshly Made Sketches #292, SAS4Kids

Welcome back! πŸ™‚Β  I’ve been making cards again! πŸ™‚Β  I love all the sunshine we’ve been getting, it makes me so happy! πŸ™‚Β  It also gives me a lot of energy! πŸ™‚Β  My grandson has been allowing me to make some cards by being really good! πŸ™‚

I made and will enter into the Freshly Made Sketches challenge #292, a fun Summer card, I hope you like it! πŸ™‚Β  Here’s the sketch:

FMS Final 292-001

aDSC00737

This is where I found this digital image on Etsy. Prettygrafikdesign.

I used Stampin’ Up! papers, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzaz, and a retired DSP.Β  Isn’t he so cute! ?Β  Reminded me of my grandson:)Β  That’s not the only cute card I made, here are a few more:

Some of my images and papers are also from Clipartland, also on Etsy. I had lots of fun making these simple layouts with the cute images! πŸ™‚Β  I also used more cardstock from Stampin’ Up!, Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, and Pacific Point.Β  The printed papers came from Etsy on one of the sites already given above.

I don’t think we have enough African American images on our cards 😦  I was thrilled to find some cute ones on Etsy! πŸ™‚Β  Although I have to say, it’s disappointing to just find “white” kids colored “brown”.Β  At least these images have ethnic hair.

I’m having trouble finding teen boy or girl images, if anyone knows a source, please let me know!Β  A lot of our “kids” are teens.

I haven’t gotten a lot of Summer cards, that’s one of the reasons I decided to make some.Β  I made quite a few of these cards πŸ˜‰Β  I did just this Saturday get a package from Janelle Klapperich of SD πŸ™‚Β  Here are some of her cards:

On the left are two cards.Β  On the right is the inside of the blue “hat” card.Β  Not a great photo, but I believe you can tell one of the balloons is popping out πŸ™‚

Janelle let me keep one of the jellyfish cards for my grandson, she is so sweet! πŸ™‚Β  He loves jellyfish and put this card in a place of honor so he can see it every day! πŸ™‚

I love all of these cards, fun and colorful, sure to bring smiles to lots of faces! πŸ™‚Β  Thank you so much Janelle for sending them in! πŸ™‚

I hope everyone is enjoying their Summer so far! πŸ™‚Β  I want to thank everyone who makes and sends in cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids! πŸ™‚Β  Be sure to check out our blog! πŸ™‚Β  The current challenge is “For the boys“, and I will also post my card there πŸ™‚Β  You can join the fun too! πŸ™‚

Thank you all for coming by! πŸ™‚Β  I appreciate your interest, even if you don’t send in cards! πŸ™‚Β  I hope you all have found some inspiration! πŸ™‚Β  Hope to see you all again soon! πŸ™‚

SAS4Kids Anything goes for kids

Hi everyone, I have a very short post today.Β  I wanted to share some cards I’ve made and a couple of sites I use for clipart and background papers πŸ™‚Β  I have some cards that I’ve made over the last 4 days, I don’t know how I got so many done, except that they have pretty simple layouts and they all use digital art πŸ™‚

My first card I will enter into our own SAS4Kids challenge, which is currently “Anything goes for kids”.Β  I didn’t receive very many Summer cards, so I decided to make some πŸ™‚Β  I decided what girls love right now are Mermaids and Unicorns, so I made some Mermaids first πŸ™‚

a705

How cute is this little mermaid?!Β  I found it on Etsy, who knew right? πŸ™‚Β  The vendor didn’t have any matching papers so I found another site that seemed to match.Β  But guess what?Β  I asked the vendor if she could supply matching papers and she said “yes”!Β  I paid extra for them, but guess what?!Β Β  She’s having a SALE, $1.00 per set! πŸ™‚Β  The Sale is until June 11th, but she said she will have another sale, a different one, after that! πŸ™‚

No she didn’t supply me with any images for free, but she has tons of them, great for kids! πŸ™‚Β  You can check her out on Etsy here, it’s called clipartland πŸ™‚Β  These are digital images and papers, that I printed out on my personal printer.Β  Here are some more cards.

a704

a702

a703

Very simple cards, but I think kids will love them πŸ™‚Β  I added some Stickles to the “pearls”.Β  Of course it’s hard to tell here.Β  All of the cards are flat, except the first one I showed.Β  For that one I used some special foam.Β  It’s pretty thin, thinner than a pop-up.Β  I cut it out with the oval die I used for the image and then just glued it on the back.Β  I think you can tell in the photo that it’s not flat πŸ™‚

Lawrence wasn’t a lot of help on these cards 😦  He did say he thought a “girl” might like the ones that had crowns. lolΒ  Maybe he’ll like the next cards I make better πŸ˜‰

I’d also like to share another shop where I get digital images, Fred She Said Designs.Β  I didn’t make a card to show, but I’ve made plenty of them and you can search with the bar on the left.Β  Tracy just put up a bunch of beautiful butterflies, but she has lots of images to choose from, she also has some cut files πŸ™‚Β  You can also check out her blog here.

One last site that you may like for digital images is called Dollar Graphics Depot πŸ™‚Β  They have some new language about “sharables” on the home page.Β  I was confused so I asked for clarification.Β  The response said we are free to use any of the images in the store to make cards to sell or give away, but you can’t give away or sell the digital files to others.

If you’ve never used digital images, you do need to set up folders on your computer to store the files.Β  I also use Print Shop to change the size of my images and print them.

If you have questions, you can leave them here or send me an email πŸ™‚Β  I hope you enjoyed my post today and you’ll come back again! πŸ™‚Β  I’ll be preparing more donor cards to showcase πŸ™‚

Freshly Made Sketches #289 and SAS4Kids

I’m back, today I have guest cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids, and a card for Freshly Made Sketches #289.Β  So off we go with the sketch for Freshly Made πŸ™‚

FMS Final 289-001

Here is my card:

a675

For this card I used some images from Fred She Said’s store called Daisies & LadyBugs.Β  Right now she has brand new butterflies! πŸ™‚Β  There are lots of options in her sets.Β  Here I used a cloud background in JPG format.Β  The flower and ladybugs are PNGs.Β  The JPG format has a white background, the PNGs have a clear background so you can layer your images.

I fussy cut the flower including the ladybugs and left it hang over the left side and bottom of the cloud background I cut in a square.Β  I think this will make a really cute card for one of our kids at Send A Smile 4 Kids πŸ™‚

Now we have Father’s Day cards sent in by our SAS4Kids donors! πŸ™‚Β  First I have Diane Herniman from Canada πŸ™‚

The insides and the backs of Diane’s cards are always decorated too!Β  Thank you Diane for your continued support of our kids in the hospital ! πŸ™‚

Now some cards from Brenda Zellner of WI πŸ™‚Β  Brenda has done an awesome job of taking the same images and making them look different! πŸ™‚

Oh, my, I see I’ve done it again 😦  My hands are getting shaky and my eyes are not as good as they used to be, I can see in some of my photos today, that they are a littleΒ Β  blurry 😦  I look at every one of these when I put the names on them, apparently my eyes are getting bad enough that I don’t see the blurry ones until I post them here 😦  I’m so sorry, please forgive me.Β  I’m going to have to dig out my tripod 😦

Thank you Brenda for these wonderful Father’s Day cards! πŸ™‚Β  I love how you used the same image more than once! πŸ™‚

On to Tammy Gullett of IA πŸ™‚

Tammy sent in multiples of her cards as well using the same images but different backgrounds πŸ™‚Β  Thank you Tammy, I’m so glad you were able to make some cards! πŸ™‚Β  Please take care of yourself! πŸ™‚

Donna Wakefield is next, she has a blog, you can visit here here πŸ™‚

Thank you Donna for these great cards for kids to share with their dads! πŸ™‚Β  Thanks for taking my challenge of sending at least 10 cards! πŸ™‚

Lastly I have Jill Blasche of TX, and her card making friend, Jan Kloss, also of TX πŸ™‚Β  I don’t know how far they live apart, but they get together and make cards for our kids, what could be more fun ? πŸ™‚

Jill Blasche

Ok, now I know these cards were not blurry on the preview page, but the last two are blurry here 😦  Try clicking on the blurry images.Β  The plane cards are beautiful, I’d like for you to really see them!

Jan Kloss

Jan sent multiples of each of these cards πŸ™‚Β  Thank you Jill and Jan for the wonderful cards! πŸ™‚Β  I’m so glad you can get together, have fun and share what you make with our kids! πŸ™‚

I want to thank all of “my” card makers for continuing to support such a good cause! πŸ™‚Β  Even though I make fewer cards now, I really enjoy receiving boxes and sorting your cards into boxes for my hospitals! πŸ™‚Β  You are all so talented and generous, the world is a better place because of you! πŸ™‚

If you’re just stopping by for some inspiration, I hope you found something that you might be able make! πŸ™‚Β  There is plenty of inspiration here for next year as well ! πŸ™‚

I hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day weekend ! πŸ™‚Β  Please remember those who have fought and fallen to preserve our way of life!

Thanks for coming by today, I appreciate your interest! πŸ™‚
