Send A Smile 4 Kids with donor cards

I’m back, I’m so sorry I’ve been gone so long!  Today I have a card I made with the SAS4Kids blog challenge in mind 🙂  The challenge ending May 5th is, Punches and/or Die Cuts.

5-1-2017

This card is actually for one of my granddaughters.  She just turned 12 and is very picky about her cards.  I did use a punch, and a die cut.  Her favorite color is red, at least for now 😉  She was very happy to get a “grown-up” card 🙂  She may feel differently next year, I guess we’ll see. lol

Now for some great cards from our SAS4Kids donors! 🙂  First up is Holly Blaskie of MI.

I love these cards, they are great examples of making different cards using almost the same supplies! 🙂  Thank you Holly for these beautiful cards, that either boys or girls will love to share with their moms! 🙂

Next is Tammy Gullett of IA 🙂

I love Tammy’s cards too! 🙂  Similar products with different outcomes 🙂  Now I know both of these ladies have other supplies, they have both been donating a long time! 🙂  So it’s not that they don’t have other supplies to use 😉  This is a great way to make cards that look different so everyone doesn’t get the same card 🙂

It’s also great for kids because they are often picky, they might pick one card over another to share because of the color or image, you just never know!  I could send all of these cards to the same hospital and everyone would feel they have a different card! 🙂 Plus, I have three hospitals, even making multiples of the same card would reach different patients, and in this case, moms! 🙂

It’s great for card makers, you have all your supplies out, cutting different colors, using different inks or papers, makes it easy for you to supply more cards with less effort 🙂  We want your card making to be fun! 🙂

Thank you Tammy for continuing to share your wonderful cards! 🙂

Next I have Lee Mae Elkins of WA 🙂  Lee Mae actually makes almost all different cards, she makes very few multiples, that’s just the way she rolls! 🙂  Of course, this is fine with us as well, whatever you have time to do and what makes you happy, makes us and our kids happy! 🙂

Thank you Lee Mae, for these beautiful cards! 🙂

All the cards shared today, on my last few posts and those that were went in but not pictured here, have all been sent! 🙂  My husband and I took them to the Post Office today! 🙂  Thanks to everyone who has donated for Mother’s Day,  I sent over 300 cards for the kids to share with their moms for Mother’s Day! 🙂

If you’ve come by just to check out the cards shared, I hope you’ve enjoyed the wonderful gifts made to share with the kids at my three hospitals! 🙂

I appreciate everyone who makes and sends cards for our kids! 🙂  I appreciate everyone who stops by and visits my blog, and thank you to all who join our challenge over at SAS4Kids! 🙂

I hope you’ll come back again to see the amazing cards, even the cards that I make 😉

UPDATES-Merry Monday # 155 and Freshly Made Sketches #183

I have some updates for this post, I will add them as bold print:)

I have a lot to share today and it wouldn’t all fit in the title!  I have Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, two different challenges, Christmas, images by Fred She Said and SAS4Kids! No time to waste, lets get going! 🙂

I made two cards last night, one for Merry Monday #155 and another for Freshly Made Sketches #183.  Merry Monday’s challenge was to use a cat or a dog.

I received an Honorable Mention for this card from Merry Monday #155.

Honorable Mention 15665

abSDC15665This image is from Fred She Said, and is called Kiss Me Scottie.  I also used an embossing folder with Holly (close enough to Mistletoe) Stampin’ Up! Real Red cardstock, and some really pretty washi tape, also Stampin’ Up! that you can get discounted right now, called All is Calm.  I used the same layout as the challenge for Freshly Made #183, which is coming up next:)

FMS Final 183-001Yes, I usually stay pretty close to the sketch;)

My ProjectThis image is also by Fred She Said, called Nolan with a Sign/Heart.  I love Fred She Said because you can get your digital images colored or b/w so you can color them yourself:)  I used Stampin’ Up! Pacific Point, Real Red, and Soft Suede cardstock. I think he’s so darn cute!

Switching gears, we are on to Mother’s Day with a new guest, Mairead Reid (rhymes with parade)  Mairead is from Ireland and is a good friend of mine:)  She is living in the USA now in the Northwest.

My friend, Mairead, had this to say about the kimono, “A Japanese lady I knew in Atlanta learned that I made cards and gave me a bunch of her old ones for me to “upcycle”. The cards had all Japanese images and of course are very unusual for us here in this part of the world. So I just cut them up and used parts to make new cards. Sometimes I add a border of stitching to make it more authentically mine and more handmade.”

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERASAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERATwo different, lovely pinks, the flowers in the first card are also from Fred She Said called Lenten Roses – Hellebores.  I was shocked to discover that I don’t own this design from FSS, I thought I had everything Fred She Said! It comes in 8 different colors.  A beautiful flower and I love the cut-out design!  The kimono is amazing, it appears to be a lazor cut design and it is gorgeous laid over the pink!

Mairead gave me this info regarding the three lovely different colored flowers: “The three stamped flowers are colored with 3-D Ink Glaze pens – it gives an embossed look. The stem was a stencil.”

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERABoth of these cards are beautiful, the flowers in the top one are shiny, I don’t know how she did that.  The flowers in the second card also look glossy, and the pink strip is glittery.  The kids are going to love giving these to their moms.  Oh, dear, I forgot, all Mairead’s cards will be going to Send A Smile 4 Kids!  But wait, there’s one more! 🙂

Mairead gave me this update on the butterfly: “The butterfly on that last one was the left over (or negative) bits from a peel-off butterfly. There is a technique to pick up all the left over bits, so you don’t waste anything from your peel-off sheet.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERALook at this beautiful cut-out!  It has a very delicate pattern that is hard to see here.  The butterfly is decorated with gold!  This card is beautiful in hand, the photo doesn’t do it justice!

Actually, all the cards shown here today will be going to Send A Smile 4 Kids, they have a blog challenge that you can find here.

Be sure to check out the Blog Candy I have coming up in May, you can find it here! 🙂

Thanks for taking the time to come by and read my blog today! 🙂  Hope to see you soon with Father’s Day cards and more! 🙂

Mother’s Day with SAS4Kids with 3 guests

Wow, I can’t believe how fast it got from Easter to Mother’s Day!  Time does go by quickly! 😉  I hope to have one more Mother’s Day post before we move on to Father’s Day, but today, it’s all about Mom:)

My first guest who has made cards to support Send A Smile 4 Kids, is Donna Wakefield, of Bedford, IN.  Donna has sent in cards before so she is a repeat donor, thank you Donna! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAIsn’t this beautiful?  Great card by Donna, love the purples:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAHere are two more cards from Donna, these look really fun! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThese cards are from Tammy Gullett, of Ottumwa, IA.  She sent 9 cards all the same.  They may not sound like a lot, but every card received is one more sent to the kids to share with their moms.  Thank you so much Tammy 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAHere’s a closer look.  You can see she used Versamark to stamp the background, it’s just barely there.  I love this technique:)  She has layer of embossed cardstock on the right, as well as some flowers from Stampin’ Up!  All of them are lovely! 🙂 Tammy has also sent in cards before:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThese cards are from Jill Blasche, of Houston, TX.  These cards are all beautiful!  Jill has sent multiples of each to share with our kids:)  Jill has also shared with us before.  Thank you Jill for thinking of us again! 🙂

All of the cards shared today are wonderful! 🙂  I know our kids will be excited to share them with their Moms! 🙂  I don’t think any of them are difficult to make.  I believe you could follow these examples of layouts and make some beautiful cards! 🙂

I’d like to have one more showing of cards for you to enjoy before Mother’s Day.  I’m expecting two packages tomorrow and I will take photos before I pack them to ship to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois:)  Then we move on to our Father’s Day cards:)  I know I’ll also be slipping in some cards for the kids:)

While your here, take a look at my blog post for May!  I will be having a drawing at the end of May for some Blog Candy! 🙂  Yes, you can join in, read my blog post and be sure to follow me to get all the details! 🙂

Thanks for coming by today, I appreciate your interest! 🙂  I’m off to make cards now, everyone is sleeping and it’s nice a quiet! 🙂  I hope you come back again! 🙂

Mother’s Day with guest and more

I’m sad to say I received way more cards for Easter than I have gotten for Mother’s Day:(   But, I have received some beautiful Mother’s Day cards and I’m going to share some with you today:)  First some cards from Diane Herniman of Canada:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERADiane makes all her own envelopes, yep, this is the envelope:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERADiane makes mostly easel cards, so this is the inside.  You fold the blue part down and the Happy Mother’s Day will hold the card in place.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAHere’s a side view with the front folded and in place.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

This is what it looks like when you set it up.  So the part above the Happy Mother’s Day, is actually the front of the card.  Sorry for the flash:(

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThis is the way the front only looks.  Diane uses a lot of photo images from around her own property!  She takes beautiful photos! 🙂

Here’s another by Diane:)

1aDiane HernimanHere I took three photos and made a little collage.  The blue envelope, the card opened all the way and bottom left, the card set up.  Beautiful card, Diane makes wonderful cards! 🙂

One last cards from Diane:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAAnother pretty envelope:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThe inside totally open.

The card set up with the easel.  Gorgeous papers and photo! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

This is a beautiful card from Donna!  I have to say, I got a good photo as well;)  The colors are beautiful and the flowers are all popped up:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The colors of this one are also beautiful!  I love blue and the added browns make it soft and soothing:)

Great cards from both Diane and Donna, all of them are beautiful!  Thank you ladies for donating these cards to Send A Smile 4 Kids! 🙂  They have a card challenge that you can check out here🙂

Please take a few minutes to check out my site about my blog candy coming up in May! 🙂

It’s April! I have a new guest for SAS4Kids

Mother’s Day is next month, so I want to be sure to show you plenty of Mother’s Day cards this month.  But first I want to take some time to welcome a new guest to my blog, Geri, from Spring Valley, MN.  Geri sent in a very large group of cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids, so I won’t be able to show a lot of them, but you will see a good example of her work shown over several  postings:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAIt was hard to choose what to show first, so here are some April flowers!  The white is all embossed, it’s shiny and looks really beautiful in hand with the sprinkles of color:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERALook at these!  Geri sent a bunch of these adorable ladybug cards!  There are two here, one shows the closed, and one the open.  Lots of room to put a note:)  My granddaughters are 8 and almost 10, they both loved these cards! 🙂

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAHow about this one?  There are several different versions of this card, I love it:)  I think the kids will love it too:)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAFinally, a Mother’s Day card, actually it could be an any day card for a mom.  Geri sent several different versions of this card as well.  They all say Love You Mom, but they have different papers:)

I think Geri has done a wonderful job of sending a good variety of cards!  They could be used for different reasons, not just what I might think they’re for.

Send A Smile 4 Kids, appreciates every card received!  Our hospitals love to share cards with kids and their families!  We thank you so much for your time and effort, it means so much to everyone involved!! 🙂

If you’re visiting just to get some good card ideas, you certainly have gotten a lot to look at over the last couple of months!  Lots of different styles and ideas! 🙂  I’m going to be posting some of my own cards in a day or two, so please come back and have a look:)

Thanks for coming by today! 🙂  I hope you’ll take a look at the SAS4Kids blog, there’s more cards where these came from;) lol  Hope to see you again:)

Freshly Made Sketches #177

Wow, here I am with 3 new cards, and I made them all!  Shocking, I know!  lol  Okay, I actually made one last week and didn’t get a chance to post it;)  Still counts as me making it:)

The first card I made for the challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches #177.  Here’s their sketch for this week:

FMS Final 177-001And my card

SDC15053aYes, it looks almost exactly like the sketch;)  But the color is a little off:(  The background and the sentiment are both Very Vanilla from Stampin’ Up!.  The next layer is not grey, it’s Sahara Sand also Stampin’ Up!  The ribbon is Primrose Petals Seam Binding (retired).  The seam binding and the other embellishments come from a retired set from 2013 called Embellishments Artisan Kit from Stampin’ Up!  (Not the current Artisan kit)

OMGoodness, all that info is correct, but I couldn’t stand it, I had to stop everything and go take more photos!!

abSDC15057Ok, now does it look better?  It’s a little dark, but the colors are more true.  I’m happy now:) This is the card I will enter in the challenge.

This next card, I made for the challenge, but decided it had too much going on.  Any opinions?

SDC15052aFor all my cards today I used my favorite white cardstock bases from Michaels.  You can scroll down on my blog a bit and find all the info on card bases:)  Next I layered Stampin’ Up! Soft Sky, and the strip is some new DSP from Stampin’ Up! called Painted Blooms.  It’s in the new Spring catalog and I love it! 🙂  I used a Stampin’ Up! retired embossing folder on the Daffodil Delight oval, and Wild Wasabi for the sentiment with Chocolate Chip words.  Does anyone recognize the retired Stampin’ Up! Chocolate Bunny?  It’s embossed with clear so you can see a little glare on his ears, I cut him out by hand. Lastly I used the Bitty Banners Framelits for cutting my sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes, SU.  I think I’ll enter this one in the challenge over at SAS4Kids, you can check out more cards for kids here.

SDC15051aNow isn’t this little guy cute?!  This is a precolored digital image from Doodle Pantry.  I’m going to enter this one in the Doodle Pantry Challenge, ANTS IN MY PANTRY DIGITAL CHALLENGE  3.  They actually had a shorter challenge name and changed it. lol  It’s all good, I copied and pasted the title;)  This image is called Quirky Bunny, and can be found here.  The kit comes with the background paper as well, and a b&w image you can color yourself.  I used some pretty Easter egg ribbon, hmmm, where did I get that?  Sorry, I can’t remember:(  I did use Tempting Turquoise from Stampin’ Up! behind the bunny, and the same Bitty Banners Framelits to cut the sentiment, which also comes in the kit.

All my cards today will be going in the boxes for Send A Smile 4 Kids:)

Thanks for coming by today! 🙂  I still plan on showing more Easter cards, so come back and see:)

I’d like to remind everyone that in April, I will be having some blog candy!  All you have to do is comment on any of my blog posts in the month of April.  Any comment will be entered to win! 🙂  I’m not sure what I will have yet, but I’m pretty sure there will be three prizes and one prize will be a brand new stamp set from Stampin’ Up! called You Brighten My Day.  I’ll show it next month and make a card with it:)

This is my Stampin’ Up! blog where you can see the catalogs and more cards:)  See you soon! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 172 & SAS4Kids

Hi everyone! 🙂  I’m on a little early today, the kids are all in a bedroom listening to music and coloring:)  I should have at least 15 minutes of quiet;)  Today I have another card for Send A Smile 4 Kids:)  I’m going to enter it in the challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches 172.  Here’s their sketch for this week:

FMS Final 172-001Here’s my card:

Doodle Pantry1a

I think this card could also be a Valentine, but I’ve made it for Mother’s Day.  I’m hoping some  little boy will want to send this to his mom:) The image is from Doodle Pantry and is called, Lil Gorilla Jungle. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder, added some typed words onto a heart that came with the Gorilla set, and used some heart paper that I printed some time ago and found in my stash.

I use Print Shop 23.1 for almost all of my digital work.  I’m just so used to it, I’ve had it for years! The version of Gorilla I used was pre-colored, but the set also has an uncolored version that you can choose how to color yourself:)  I know I used Stampin’ Up! Real Red cardstock, and I think Smoky Slate behind the Gorilla.  The Gorilla is popped up a little with extra layers of cardstock, also the heart.

I’m off to eat dinner, yep, my 15 minutes is up! lol  I must feed the little monsters:)

Thanks for stopping by today, I’m always glad to have visitors! 🙂  See you soon:)
