Christmas in July Challenge and Blog Hop Celebrating our 175th Challenge!
Welcome to our huge blog hop and celebration of Send A Smile 4 Kidsโ 175th Challenge! The theme of our blog hop is Christmas in July 4 Kids because it is never too early to start making holiday cards for all the kids in the many childrenโs hospitals we now serve. We would love for each child to receive a holiday card as well as be able to pick some for special medical staff or loved ones they are missing during the holiday season.
We have 17 stops in the blog hop and at each stop you have one or two chances at winning just by leaving a comment. You can also earn a chance to win a prize by commenting on the blog post on our SAS4Kids blog and also by entering the Christmas in July challenge which starts July 21st and runs through August 3rd at noon.

Here are the rules for this blog hop:
**You do not need to comment on every stop of the blog hop to have a chance to win a prize. One comment on any of the blogs or on the main SAS4Kids blogpost qualifies you to win one of the prizes on that blog. If you leave a comment on each stop, you will have earned 17 chances to win a prize, and if you enter a card in the Christmas in July 4 Kids challenge, you will also earn a chance to win one of 8 random prizes there.
**You MUST have an USA mailing address to qualify to win any of the prizes. We apologize to any of our readers outside of the USA, but this is a requirement to win any of the prizes in this blog hop and in the Christmas in July challenge.
**The blog hop will start July 21st at 8:00 a.m. CST and continue until July 31st at midnight CST. When the blog hop is done, all the winners will be drawn randomly from the commenters on each blog and on the main blog, and announced on the SAS4Kids blog on August 4th and on each individual blog. If your name is listed as a winner, you must contact Karen at khasheck@gmail.com BEFORE August 18th at midnight CST with your NAME, EMAIL ADDRESS AND MAILING ADDRESS. If you do not contact Karen before August 18th at midnight CST, your prize will be forfeited.
**The Christmas in July 4 Kids challenge at SAS4Kids will run from July 21st until August 3rd at Noon CST (as is typical of our two week challenges.) You can qualify for one of 8 prizes by entering a Christmas or holiday card appropriate for a child following the rules of all of our challenges found in the page above. The prizes will be awarded by random drawing and announced with the rest of the winners on August 4th on our blog.
We are so happy to have some of the volunteers who collect and distribute cards to our many childrenโs hospitals as well as some TEAM SAS alumni and previous Top Three winners join the SAS4Kids TEAM SAS in this blog hop!
Now, on to some cards! ๐ย I have two cards from one of our sponsors, Fred She Said Designs ๐ย This link goes right to the page of this set called Christmas Poinsettia Packs: Red or Blue ๐
This first card was made with items in the pack, except for the shiny gold medallion behind the flower.ย The medallion is from Stampin’ Up!, it’s retired, but I had a few left over from last year.ย It’s just an idea how you can make the pack items look a little different.ย I also used Stampin’ Up! Real Red cardstock for my base layer ๐
This is the second card I made using the Christmas Poinsettia Pack, from Fred She Said ๐ย I’m sorry, parts of this look a little blurry to me ๐ฆย I hope you all can see it okay ๐ย I used just the Poinsettia from the pack and mounted the whole thing of Stampin’ Up! Real Red.ย The black paper is from Carta Bella, Christmas Delivery paper pack #2.ย Nope, I don’t have it sitting around, I bought it from Snap Click Supply.ย It’s a digital paper pack, and it printed out beautifully on Canon, Matte, photo paper.
Behind the black designer paper is just some Stampin’ Up! Basic Black. For the Memory Box, Holly Vine, I used Stampin’ Up! Garden Green. I used a set by Avery Elle called Winter Woodland Wonders for the “Merry Christmas” sentiment. Lastly, I used a retired embellishment for the middle of my flower from Stampin’ Up!
The Poinsettia was so easy to cut out once it was printed, also on Canon, Matte, photo paper.ย This card shows that you can take items you have sitting around, add a FSS Christmas Poinsettia and you have a beautiful card! ๐
Now, I will be giving away, free, to one of my commenters, one of two Stampin’ Up! Party Pandas stamp sets! ๐ย All you have to do is make a comment on my blog and you will be entered to win! ๐
I made a card for this occasion, the set is usually for Birthdays, but I saw a panda with a Christmas hat somewhere and thought it was so cute! ๐
I used Stampin’ Up!ย Real Red cardstock.ย The tree is from Peaceful Pines, the sentiment from Snowflake Sentiments, The hat is from Jolly Friends, it also had a punch for the hat, and of course, the panda is from Party Pandas, all sets from Stampin’ Up! I believe they are all retired, but Stampin’ Up! has a lot of sets that are similar and the new Holiday catalog will be coming out before you know it! ๐
I cut down the hat and white hat band, it was a little too big, but it helped to have the punch ๐ย The panda actually has a card in his hand.ย I cut out his arms and made a little Christmas gift and colored it with Stampin’ Up! markers.ย I drew the bow right onto his lower face ๐ย The inks I used were Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Real Red and Early Espresso on the tree trunk.
I am personally supplying 3 Stampin’ Up! stamp sets.ย One on Dena’s blog and 2 on my blog.ย I have two sets of Party Pandas ๐ย These were very popular and very cute! ๐
I enjoyed making all these cards and encourage you to check out Fred She Said and Stampin’ Up!
Thank you so much for supporting Send a Smile 4 Kids and our wonderful sponsors of this blog hop. Good luck in the drawings! Leave a comment here and hop for more chances at many prizes.
THE NEXT STOP IS: Anne Slattery
